My kids and I really enjoyed this. They thought it was funny and the illustrations are well done. I would recommend this to my friends with kids in elementary school.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions written are completely honest and my own.
An amusing story with bright fun illustrations is a hard combo to beat. Alistair is a great name for a posh alligator.
My only dislike was that Alistair just became a normal gator after his family was found in the illustrations. His unique personality disappeared.

3/5 Stars! Thanks NetGally and MamaBear Books for this eARC book of How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub By Lynsey Martin.
I really thought the illustration of the books was very well done, however it didn't really catch my kids attention...but also, I didn't really see any real reason behind this story. The plot was just okay for me but I wish there was something more fun / hilarious to add to it. There was a lot of zooming in and out and moving around the page because the digital was a little off. This may have been another reason why my kiddo wasn't too interested.
Thanks!

This is a beautifully illustrated children’s book but the story didn’t seem to have any real meaning or purpose. The alligator declared that he was too sophisticated to live in a swamp but then happily went back there as the plot changed to him not being able to find his family. It left but myself and my son very confused about the point of the story.

Well, this shows off the virtues of being kind and generous, and not judgemental, but it's not a great story. Two kids find an alligator in the bath, talk to it until an issue arises, and then all three go off and try to resolve the issue. Which kind of does that itself, so it's not even as dramatic as might be. Also, the character of the 'gator seemed too posh and mature to be the child he proved to be, so there's that to beware of when reading this out loud. It's not bad, but there was little to make me urge anyone to buy it.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to preview this title in exchange for an honest review.
I read this with my 6 yr old daughter. This was a sweet book with an original idea and beautiful illustrations. It was long enough to make it interesting but not too long that it dragged. We both agreed that we liked the story and the illustrations, but the font was incredibly small. I read this as an ebook so making the font bigger made the illustrations not work.

The excellent illustrations in this book bring the story to life. An alligator is found by two brothers in their bathtub, and they don't know how to get him out! It turns out that the alligator needs help, and he's found the perfect brothers to help him out. This is a book that is fun to read aloud, and children will love the story and the message of family, friendship, and belonging. Delightful short children's book.

Vibrant, fun, and quite silly, this book takes you on a journey that ends up being quite heartwarming at the end.
When a pair of brothers find an alligator in their bathtub, they are frightened, but after some antics from all parties involved, they move to friendship, and when the alligator reveals the real reason he took up residence in their tub, the boys and the audience alike just want to give that cute little gator a hug.
Bonus: many children's books from small publishers are not well designed in terms of illustrations and text meshing well, but this one nailed it. It is adorable and easy to read.
Thanks to MamaBear Books for the digital review copy. All opinions are my own.

When Payton and Bennett come in from a very busy day playing and go to take their bath they discover there is already someone in their bath tub, and that someone is an Alligator who is having a lovely time.
His name is Alistair and he is not in a hurry to get out of the bath at all. All he wants to do is enjoy his bath and make friends with the boys.
But as everyone knows, Alligators are not the sort of friends you really want, especially when they are in your bath tub, no matter what they have to say about how friendly and nice they are.
The boys eventually have to stop their yelling and talk to Alistair who explains how he came to be in their bath tub and why he is also very unhappy.
What to do next and how to get Alistair out of the bath tub makes a fun filled story about planning, working together, problem solving and understanding different perspectives in life which have been skilfully woven throughout How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub.
How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub will have a wide appeal for all children in the 4-8-year age range. Colourful illustrations from Colleen C Coggins add to the fun in the story.

The illustrations are great. I read this with my 7 year old and he liked it. I can see my 3 year old enjoying it a bit more. Alligators are fun to read about. Especially since they've watch Lyle Lyle Crocodile.

An unusual story about a sophisticated and friendly alligator that ends up in Peyton and Bennett's bath tub and they try to figure out how to remove it.
They go through a few unsuccessful options but eventually help the alligator find his family.
The book feels like a bit of a missed opportunity for some easy humour - though I did enjoy the alligator with tea and a lorgnette.

A very cute little book. Read this for bedtime with my one year old. Was quite sweet - including the backstory on how the story originated. If I wasn’t deathly afraid of alligators and crocodiles it would have been 5 stars.

The narrative centers on Peyton and Bennett, who discover Alistair, a friendly alligator, enjoying a bubble bath in their tub. Rather than reacting with fear or frustration, the brothers embark on a mission to help Alistair find his way home. Their journey is filled with humor and creativity, showcasing their problem-solving skills and the importance of helping others in need.
How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub is poised to be a delightful addition to children's literature. Its engaging storyline, charming illustrations, and meaningful messages make it a valuable resource for parents, educators, and young readers alike.

This was super adorable and an all around fun read! My 2.5 yo really liked it, and got excited on every page. The illustrations were vibrant and interesting for the younger kids- this is most ideal for ages 2-4 I’d say! Very cute though and definitely worth adding to your shelf!

I read this with my 3.5 year old and we both enjoyed it!
I downloaded this onto my kindle, so he enjoyed reading a book like mummy does'
Would very definately get the hard cover for a gift for someone

This is such a fun story. I loved Alistair, the alligator! He is so different from our usual horrible alligators. The illustrations add the charm to the story.

This is such a fun story! It is cute, short and joyful. Kids will love to join Peyton, Bennett and Alistair, the alligator in this sweet story.

This was a cute read and a quick one too. I thought the illustrations went well with the story and I think there are many kiddos who will have fun with it. I do wish there was more of a lesson at the end as it felt like it was going that way but then kind of didn't finish up.

I wanted to read this book because when I saw the cover it reminded me a lot of a book I read as a kid, "Alligator Baby" by Robert Munsch. This was very nostalgic for me.
The story starts by introducing two brothers, Peyton and Bennet, who run to take a bath at the end of the day, but they find an alligator in their bathtub!!
It turns out the Alligator decided to move in after thinking his family abandoned him, and the two boys help to reunite him with his family. It was a touching family reunion.
I think kids would really enjoy this one!

I feel like the alligator got out of the bathtub relatively quickly fort hat to be the name of the book. Sometimes there was a rhyming scheme and sometimes there wasn't and that sort of threw off the flow for me.
