This was a cute story of an alligator that could not find his family, but found a home he found welcoming. Though as soon as the two boys that found the alligator mentioned him missing his family, he broke down. The boys helped him find his way home, but also made a new friend along the way in helping him. My four year old liked! The illustrations went very well with the story.

Thank you so much to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC with my child. She LOVES alligators and found this book so charming. In her own words, her favorite part was “the super cute baby alligators”. The story was really cute and a fun little tale for us to read together before bed. She is still in a learning curve to read and it was simple enough that she could get some of the words herself.

We both really enjoyed this one!

Why is there an alligator in their bathtub? Peyton and Bennett don't know why but they need to get him out so they can use it. But how can they make him get out? This was a very cute picture book with a satisfying ending

Thank you, NetGalley and Colleen C. Coggins, for providing me with an early copy.

This was a fun and quick read. The kids will enjoy it and have fun with it. The illustrations are cute, and how they all became friends at the end was adorable.

I will be honest and wish there were a bit of a bigger lesson at the end of the book.

It's bathtime, but there's a problem—there's an alligator in the bathtub!

Luckily this particular alligator is reasonably charming (snobby, yes, but good-natured). The boys want their bathtub back, but they pretty quickly get over any residual fear of being eaten (though...parents in Florida...maybe remind your kids that alligators in the bathtub are all good and well, but only in fiction?). It's a quick-moving and playful story, with equally playful illustrations to help carry the story along.

I read an ARC and hope that there's been a last round of proofreading since the ARC was made available; I appreciate that they story *isn't* in rhyme (rhyme can be nice, but it takes some serious skill to keep it from feeling contrived), but there are some minor punctuation errors. I learned so much about grammar and punctuation through reading as a kid (ah, the American education system, where teaching these things is considered a "nice to have" rather than a "must have"!) that I always wonder what kids pick up from small errors. (I am probably overthinking this.)

All that said, this is super cute, and I can imagine little kids dreaming up their own alligators in the bathtub. A good one to pair with an alligator stuffed animal as a birthday gift.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.

It is a fun cosy read about an alligator that has come to visit. Surprise, surprise, he heads straight for the bathtub when he enters someone's home. It is beautifully illustrated and heartwarming. But I somehow do not find it engaging enough.

I was totally sold on this book just by the title and cover! Yes, I judged it by its cover! How could I not? It’s amazing!

Two young boys discover an alligator in their bathtub and have no idea what to do about it. Thankfully, this isn’t just any alligator; it’s Alistair, a sophisticated gator who is over the whole swamp life thing and prefers bubble baths. Even though Alistair is quite charming, the boys still need to figure out how to get him out of their tub!

My favorite part was Alistair’s personality. He’s so posh and speaks in this fancy, high-brow way. I couldn’t help but imagine him sounding like a proper English gentleman, which made it even funnier for me!

The story does take a surprising turn about halfway through, though. Suddenly, it’s less about getting Alistair out of the tub and more about helping him reunite with the family he says he’s lost. In the end, he finds his family and goes back to the swamp. It’s a cute conclusion, but it leaves the original question of how to get an alligator out of the bathtub unanswered.

While I found the two halves of the book to be disconnected, I don’t think kids will notice or mind at all. The illustrations are super cute, and the story brings themes of friendship, family, and kindness to life. Any kid who loves alligators, quirky adventures, or silly situations will enjoy this book!

Thank you @netgalley and MamaBear Books for an eARC, which I’ve read and reviewed voluntarily.

The illustrations were eye-catching and the story was cute. At several points in the book, it was difficult to read due to the font size. Overall, good book.

How to Get an Alligator out of the Bathtub - I read this book to my girls (7 and 4). They enjoyed the illustrations and the hunt to find Alistair's family. My 7 yr old who takes things more literal, had a bunch of questions as to “how did the alligator get in the house without a key? Where is the mom and dad? How does the alligator know its bubbles and not shampoo, can it read?...” They were happy for the ending and also for keeping their friendship intact. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Very cute story! I read this with my six year old and he giggled a lot. He really liked that the main characters were two brothers- just like him and his big brother! We guessed that AliStair's family was planning him a birthday party from the picture but we were wrong! Cute ending.

This was really cute! The art is really colorful and eye catching. There's also lots of opportunities to say words in a silly way when reading in Alistair's voice. I do think some of the words are a bit too big for the target audience though. I'm sure words like sophisticated, galore, fret, and food such as caviar, truffles, and duck a l'orange aren't something that are really present in a child's vocabulary to fully grasp what's happening in the story.

Cute story. Nice ending. Font was a little hard to read. Recommend thicker font. Good characters. Like the alligators accent.

To start, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the author, Lynsey Martin, the illustrator, Colleen C. Coggins, MamaBear Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub. I read in a digital format. I will also share my review to Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes & Noble upon release. This children's picture book for ages 3-7 approx. is a little tale about an alligator who wanted to live inside and take baths. The boys who live there decide not to tell their parents what they've discovered, and antics ensue. The story went somewhere I really didn't expect, but it was funny and cute. The illustrations were nice, and have a cohesive color scheme that maintains a playful vibe throughout. Thanks again!

Awesome book! I was so entertained while reading this book, and it was a total blast to read! Since this was my own personal reading experience, I believe that every little one that reads this book is going to be full of joy and giggles as they read. Semi-realistic kids' books such as this one rarely fail to disappoint, and this book wasn't an exception to that rule (meaning I was NOT disappointed at all). Additionally, I loved seeing the progression of the boys' feelings towards Alistair, going from fear to friendship over the course of the whole book. Lastly, the illustrations were phenomenal! The alligators were surprisingly adorable, and emotions were conveyed flawlessly throughout. This book was amazing overall!

How to Get an Alligator Out of the Bathtub is a cozy little story about two boys making a friend when he comes to hang out in their bathtub. Alistair the Alligator is a sophisticated type. This book would be appropriate for kids 3-8.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced reader's copy.
