Bridges shares information on bridges from what are they, records, history, and construction. Lots of sketches with labels show different bridges around the world. Great for engineering projects or fans. Would be a good fit for classroom or technology libraries. Browseable nonfiction for grades 5-8.

What a remarkable, uniquely formatted book. The color scheme is gorgeous and this is packed so full of information. The illustrations are genius. I cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy and share it with my son. I'll also share it with the adults at my library - we love a unique piece of kids nonfiction.
Thank you for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.

Super informative, cool book to learn more about bridges. The book goes into detail about how to build a bridge, different kinds of bridges, etc.

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated non-fiction books I've come across recently. Bridges is an exploration through the history and design of bridges, from ancient stone arches to modern constructions. It's jammed packed with EVERYTHING you can know about bridges. It's such a beautiful collaboration that would be a perfect book for any fan of architecture or engineering.
The best thing about this book is its ability to make the complex world of engineering accessible and engaging for kids. I am a sucker for a well-designed book and it's such an aesthetically pleasing color palette and design that makes it so much more engaging for kids while they learn. My favorite part was the section on the Brooklyn Bridge because its comic book format made it a very enjoyable read.
The book also encourages creativity and critical thinking, inviting kids to try their hand at building their own bridges using everyday materials like spaghetti. It reminds me of my 8th grade years when my friend and I won the spaghetti bridge contest in one of my classes. I had completely forgotten about that so now I can't wait to try this challenge with my son after reading this book.
I think that Bridges is a great blend of education and inspiration and a must-have for any young learner interested in science and engineering or anyone looking to add a great STEM focused book to their home or school library.

Bridges of many types all over the world are carefully illustrated and explained.
Too bad they showed the lift bridge in Bordeaux, France but not the one in Duluth, MN, USA as it's my favorite next to the George Washington and the Brooklyn bridge (which has a 2 page spread!).
The illustrations by Jakub Bachorik are clear and explicit of each type and of bridge
Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age, including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library! Excellent in print copy! printed in English
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected digital Galley on Thorium PDF from Publisher Spotlight | Post Wave via NetGalley. I ordered mine new through #thriftbooks.

Another absolutely amazing non-fiction reference book that we will need to purchase a physical copy of for our homeschool shelves! The illustrations are gorgeous- realistic but still clearly illustrations (just how we like it) and there's TONS of information, but presented in an easy to digest manner. My kids have really enjoyed looking through this one and we've learned a lot of interesting information about bridges that we truly never even thought about before. Definitely recommend if you have a budding engineer or just a family that enjoys a beautiful non-fiction for read aloud!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

We are in a great age of children’s non-fiction. I love the illustration style in this book, I learned a lot of interesting facts about bridges and the images assisted greatly with understanding the new information. I think this is a great book for learners of all ages and I will be getting it for our library collection!

This reminds me of those fantastic books from when I was growing up with detailed pictures of castles and other buildings-- the amount of detail is stunning. But there's so much more!
I never really thought about the first bridges because it seems obvious now that when we can, we build something between two points to make it easier to get there. But humans saw other animals doing it first and the way we build bridges has changed so much over time.
This short book goes through all that, explaining things such as different materials and kinds of structures.
One of my favorite things was seeing other bridges around the world, like the longest and the highest. I'm afraid of heights but there's a tall bridge where I can pay someone to drive across for me!
This is a great book for home and school and a quality addition to every STEM collection.

This is a beautifully illustrated infographic-style book with fantastic information crammed (in a very organized way) into every page with bright colors. Perfect for children who are interested in engineering, trains, bridges, and learning! This is also great for STEM teachers to have as a reference book. The book even describes how to make a spaghetti bridge for a fun activity.
I highly recommend this book for all schools and libraries, and as a gift to a child or adult who would like this on their bookshelf!
