Jennifer Hartmann is a poet. Her writing can take a story made from chaos and and make it end in the most beautiful way. This story changes up the hero into a heroine and shows how not everyone is who they present themselves to be. This enemies, to frienemies, to friends, to enemies, to lovers is just what I needed. Jennifer’s writing is like butter.

Dream On was my first book by Jennifer Hartmann and it won’t be my last! Dream On shattered my heart and slowly was put back together piece by piece, then the cycle repeats until we get to the beautiful I was rooting for! You will want to check the TW. I’m usually not into a dual timeline but in Dream On it was perfectly done! I could see this book coming to the big screen! Lex and Stevie have been through it, but Lex’s childhood and the after effects broke me. Lex was a character I went back and forth on throughout the book but once we got towards the end I just had so much love for him. This book had me in a chokehold and I can’t wait to go back and read Jen’s other books!

If Jennifer Hartmann writes it I will read it and own it! One of my favorite authors ever!

I absolutely loved this book! You will feel all the feels. Its shatters you and then you are put back together again.

I took my time reading this book I did not want it to end.

Lex and Stevie meet due to an accident and then Lex disappears after another accident occurs. It leaves Stevie hurt and confused.

Four years later and they are brought back into each other’s lives. This book has fake dating, tragedy, love, trauma, and celebrity romance. You’re gonna cry, you will laugh, but you will remember Lex and Stevie and tuck them away in your heart.

Thank you Jennifer Hartmann and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this book before it’s released. My dream of having an ARC from my favorite author has been fulfilled!

“I think, sometimes, love isn’t always in the ones who stick around. It’s in the missing pieces- the holes carved out, the gaps that strain and stretch. You notice when it leaves, the quiet, empty moments where absence lingers, and you feel the weight of what’s gone.”

Another beautiful, heart wrenching, edge of your seat, and holding your breath kind of story that only the Queen of Harts can deliver.
First and foremost.. a nod to Moulin Rouge?! I was absolutely eating it up. Forever one of my all time favorite movies♥️
Lex is our distant and tortured hero, but all I want is to wrap him in a hug and tell him it’s all going to work out; he WILL be fine. My heart absolutely broke for all he’s endured, but I also fell in love with his redemption storyline. Sure, he’s Hollywood’s golden boy, but underneath all the fame and money is a man who just wants to be seen.
Stevie is our small town, farm living, starry eyed dreamer who knows she has what it takes. Her family has always supported her dreams and she wants to give back to them tenfold. She sacrifices so much, fights hard for those she loves, and will stop at nothing to prove to Lex that she’s got him.
My heart was put through it with the tragedies, but in true JH fashion, healing happens along the way that simply brings tears to your eyes❤️‍🩹
If you haven’t read a Jennifer Hartmann book yet… why not?! Change that immediately. I think this is a great intro into her writing style and dynamic.
AND THE SECRET TROPE!! In love!

Wow! Just wow! Another knock you off your feet story by Jennifer!

“Lex didn’t just tell his story… He took ours. And shattered it.”

💚 Fake Dating

💚 All the Emotions
🩷 All the Angst

I was hooked from the first chapter! As always Jennifer knows just how to grip you and pull you right into her stories! I just couldn’t put Dream On down! I devoured it, wanting more with every page turn!
I loved Lex and Stevie’s story! They basically come from opposite sides of the tracks. Lex, child star turned into a beloved Hollywood Golden Boy. Stevie, the poor farm girl next store with stars in her eyes to becoming so much more. Both with their own struggles & making some wrong choices along the way while their worlds keep colliding. Their journey is so heart wrenching and beautiful! But their back & forth banter & angst was absolutely drool worthy!
I’ve always loved the fake dating trope and Lex & Stevie’s fake dating was so much fun, it kept a smile on my face! My heart honestly hurt so much for Lex. And seeing Lex and Stevie’s entire journey from teen collision to adult lovers with all the struggles & stressing events that filled their path is a true Jennifer Hartmann emotional rollercoaster ride of heartache, drama, warmth, stress, yearning and love! Jennifer continues to be my favorite author! Dream On is absolute perfection!

Thank you so much Jennifer Hartmann & Valentine PR for the ARC of this beautiful story! I loved every minute of it!

Thank you to my partners, Valentine PR, Bloom Books, NetGalley, and the author. I appreciate the gifted eARC and am leaving this review voluntarily!

1. 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 • It always looks like the grass is greener on the other side, but we don’t always see what happens behind closed doors. I think the simplicity of Stevie’s life is such a draw to Lex because he sees how real it all is.

2. 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 • It’s amazing just how much pain and suffering one can give another and how much it can linger. Lex experienced way too much and it causes him to hurt those in his life who truly mean the world to him.

3. 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐔𝐩 • Sometimes, it is just truly meant to be. I think this story is a testament to fighting for what one knows is right. Whether it be love or something else entirely, trust your instincts and fight!

4. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 • It is so easy to get lost in the expectations of others. Both Lex and Stevie figure out the hard way that what matters most is how you feel and what you need. The strength it took at some points was incredible!

5. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐅… • Holy smokes. I really don’t know how many times my heart was ripped out only to find out I was totally fooled. I almost threw my Kindle across the room near the end…trust me, don’t do it.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Jennifer Hartmann for this ARC.
I absolutely loved following Stevie and Lexington’s story. This was another powerful novel from Hartmann that truly moved me. It had everything I adore: angst, forced proximity, those irresistible “I hate you but I don’t” vibes, and it was beautifully written. If you’re familiar with Jennifer Hartmann’s writing, you know she often structures her books into several acts, and each act in Dream On was phenomenal. The first one in particular broke my heart, but I won’t say more to avoid spoilers. I highly recommend this book because it’s absolutely worth buying and reading.

What an Honor it was to receive an Advance Reader a copy of one of my absolute favourite authors.

Jennifer Hartmann is the queen of angst, yearning and trauma all wrapped up in a beautifully crafted story. I absolutely adore her writing style and the way she has the ability to ensure you endure a rollercoaster of emotions in a single chapter of all her books.

Lex and Stevie’s story was no different it was utter perfection, the yearning and heartache began early on in this one and the dual timelines, flashbacks and dual POV kept me captive until the final word.

I loved the subjects this book highlighted which ranged from Loss, heartbreak, found family, toxic relationships, life in the spotlight.

I absolutely loved Dream On

“𝙄’𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢, 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮.”

Stevie is the small town farm girl made of hard work and quiet dreams. She never expected her life to intertwine with someone like Lexington, the boy destined for the spotlight. Their differences should have kept them apart but they have an instant connection and spark something unforgettable.

This book felt like stepping into that electric first love. All the forced proximity, butterflies and nervous glances, all consuming intensity. Just when everything feels unshakable, Lex disappears, leaving Stevie with heartbreak. The story then jumps forward, and fate throws them back together. Only now, Lexington Hall is a household name, building his fame on the story of the love they once shared, and he’s back with an offer that could change everything for Stevie.

Jennifer Hartmann does what she does best, as always! She makes you feel. The ache of what was lost, the tension of what still lingers, the bittersweet pull of first love colliding with second chances. It’s tender, messy and so beautiful, a reminder that love doesn’t always fit neatly into the boxes we want it to.

It took me some time to put my thoughts together to write this review which probably still won't do this book justice. After reading Lex and Stevie's story I was left emotional, speechless, yet complete.

“ᴀ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ᴄᴀɴ ᴏɴʟʏ ʙʀᴇᴀᴋ ɪғ ɪᴛ ᴄᴀʀᴇs ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ ᴛᴏ."

Lex and Stevie were two beautiful souls who found each other amidst the chaos that tried to drive them apart. With each page I read I was more emotionally embedded in their heartbreakingly beautiful story. I couldn't stop reading, unable to put it down the raw emotions had me inhaling this story like my next breath. This book was filled with so much intensity and chemistry that you could feel it through the pages as if you're losing a piece of yourself in there but knowing you are closing the book on a phenomenal story!

🌙✨ Review: Dream On by Jennifer Hartmann ✨🌙

Jennifer Hartmann has done it again, Dream On is raw, emotional, and absolutely unforgettable. Stevie and Lex’s story is full of ache, longing, fake-dating tension, and the kind of second chances that make your chest tight and your heart race.

I laughed with Stevie’s pun-loving family, cried for Lex’s broken edges, and rooted for them both through every messy, tender, healing moment. This book lingers long after the last page, it hurts, it heals, and it hums with hope.

If you love romances that make you feel everything, from heartbreak to healing, this one is a must-read. 🌟

Jennifer Hartmann’s Dream On pulls you in with a mix of nostalgia, heartbreak, and hope. Lex and Stevie meet in high school while starring in a Moulin Rouge production. He’s the guarded, famous teen actor carrying more pain than anyone realizes, and she’s the small-town girl with a generous heart and big dreams. Their bond is instant, but tragedy forces them apart.

Years later, Lex has turned their story into a TV show, bringing them face to face again. What follows is a reunion filled with emotion, unspoken longing, and a love that never burned out. Hartmann blends Hollywood sparkle with the quiet comfort of Stevie’s farmhouse, making every moment feel real.

This isn’t just a fake dating or second-chance romance. It’s a story of healing, second chances, and love that survives the hardest seasons of life. The emotional depth and character growth stay with you long after the last page.

tw/cw: references to SIDS, flashback to past sexual assaults, abusive parent,

✨ 3rd act break up: of sorts
✨ heat level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Man, this author knows how to bring the angst and drama, and I’m here for it. I stayed up until way past my bedtime last night as I could not put my kindle down for love nor money. It was well worth the crackhead look I’m currently sporting.

I was fully consumed by Lex and Stevie’s story; split out into acts similar to a play, we were given insight into their past, present and future. During the first act, I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t warm up to Lex as a character. However, when you find out the things he’s been through at the hands of the people that he’s meant to trust, it completely changed my perception of him. This bloke had demons and the last thing he wanted to do was involve Stevie in his drama.

Stevie was such a wonderful heroine; extremely likeable and unapologetic about who she was, she brought a lightness to Lex that he hadn’t experienced in a while. Lex was a complex character, however I loved seeing him slowly warm to Stevie, realising that she was probably the only honest and trustworthy person in his life.

Incredibly thought provoking and addictive, Dream On was pure perfection from beginning to end.

Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.

⭐️ ARC REVIEW ⭐️

This story was absolutely beautiful, it really had so much depth and emotion. To say I devoured this would be an understatment.

I’ve read a fair few books by Jennifer Hartmann now and I can honestly say she NEVER disappoints!

Lex and Stevie’s story was so raw and real, and I loved how the story was broken up into different stages of their lives and all of the trauma and scars that were revealed along the way. It really kept me invested!

The fake dating was not at all how I thought this story would go but it worked so well, I was laughing so hard throughout this book while having my heart ripped out in others. Truly the sign of a great story!

Both characters had very complex stories and emotions and my heart hurt for both of them in their own right. But you, Lex, you deserve the world 😭

Also really loved the musical element of this story too, the names, songs, the moulin rouge! Absolutely brilliant ❤️

I don't think there is anything Jennifer Hartmann can't do. I have loved all her books so far and this was no different. Although this is definitely different from her other books the essence of it still has all the emotion and angst you would expect from her.

Stevie St. James is a small town girl with a huge dream. She may be the only one who isn't impressed when word gets out that Lexington Hall the child actor is going to be going to the same school as her. These two don't get off on the right foot so you can imagine that when they are both auditioning for the school musical she is less than thrilled. Lex walks the halls full of confidence and swagger but underneath it all he is hiding a boat load of hidden trauma. These two who come from different worlds end up having to work together and through this they develop an unlikely friendship. Four years later Lex is back in Hollywood and riding high after the making of a t.v. show that he not only wrote but starred in. The problem is that he wrote it about his relationship with Stevie with out her consent or input. Now everyone wants to know who the real Stevie is. The last four years have not been kind to Stevie and she is made an offer that she can't refuse. When these two come back together once again there will be fireworks. The question is will Stevie be the one to get burned again?

This was chock full of so much angst you could feel the emotions bleeding off the page. Lexington was such a frustrating character who was deeply flawed by his trauma. His relationship with Stevie was full of push and pull, will they or won't they. At times you are rooting for them and at others you are screaming at the pages for Stevie to get as far away from his as possible.

This was such a well crafted slow burn with characters that must go through a healing journey before they can find their happily ever after.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

In Dream On, Jennifer Hartmann delivers a heartfelt and emotional romance that gracefully explores fame, forgiveness, and the blurred lines between performance and reality, a love that endures through time, trauma, and betrayal. With her signature deep emotional tones, Jennifer Hartmann creates a story that is both a second-chance romance and a sharp commentary on the consequences of private pain becoming a public spectacle, keeping readers captivated well into the night.

Stevie St. James is a small-town girl with dreams of becoming an actress, crosses paths with Lexington Hall, a former child star running from the harsh truths of Hollywood. Together, they find refuge under the bright lights of a high school drama stage and in the bonds of newfound friendships, creating a sense of hope until tragedy strikes.

Lex is both infuriatingly charismatic and deeply regretful, a man trying to reconcile the version of himself the world adores with the one that broke a girl’s heart. Now a Hollywood star, he has used their shared past turning it into entertainment for the whole world to see. Stevie is guarded yet vulnerable, still healing from heartbreak and a betrayal that not only shattered her dreams but also exposed her private life to millions. Their reconnection, sparked by a fake relationship arrangement meant to generate media hype, sets the stage for a slow-burning reunion that feels raw, real, and utterly unputdownable.

More than just a romance, Dream One explores the journey of reclaiming one’s narrative in a world eager to rewrite it. It's about second chances, not just in love, but in life. The story is messy, heart-wrenching, and undeniably hopeful. For fans of fake dating, forced proximity, friends to enemies to lovers and second chances, this book is a chance worth taking. With layers of unresolved history and chemistry that crackles with every glance and cautious touch, readers are drawn into a love story that is as risky as it is redemptive. Once again, Jennifer Hartmann has delivered an emotional and gripping masterpiece.

Thank you, Jennifer Hartmann, and Valentine PR for the chance to read an advanced copy of this book!

Review: Jennifer Hartmann does it again! She absolutely wrecked me and then put me back together. I went into this book completely blind which was fun! So no spoilers from me!

Stevie St. James has big dreams of being a star in the stage lights. Lex Hall is the golden boy who grew up in them. The instant these two meet...there's something there. It's more like hate, but it's there!😂 Their meet cute had me hooked! The draw to one another was undeniable, but fate had other plans. I loved how their story was told in the past and then, thanks to a twist of fate, these two are back in each other’s orbit.

Jennifer always delivers on the angst, the longing, and the messy imperfect love. She captures the raw and real feelings of love. Stevie’s vulnerability mixed with her stubborn fire made her a heroine I adored and related to. Lex, a walking contradiction of charm and ache that I just wanted to hold and give him a big hug. Their chemistry leapt off the page, and I devoured it.

If I had one wish, it would be just a little more time of them in their HEA because I just wasn’t ready to let them go. Jennifer makes you feel every beat, and I closed this book with a full heart.

✨ Another unforgettable love story from one of my favorite authors.

Jennifer Hartmann, what did you do to my heart? I just got sucker punched in the feels—in the best, most devastating way.
Dream On is an unforgettable slow-burn romance about Stevie, a farm-town girl with big dreams, and Lex, an emotionally guarded Hollywood actor grappling with a troubled past and his growing feelings for Stevie. Their complicated love story unfolds through scripts, music, and a connection that begins to blur the line between acting and reality. Lex is able to express his true emotions through the roles he plays or behind a cell phone screen. Their connection is electric, and I was so book-buzzed and invested in these two characters.
This book is everything. I savored every word from the first to the last page. The feels. What an epic journey. Dream On might just be my favorite book by Jennifer Hartmann.
Hands down, Dream On is one of my top reads of the year.
(Also… psst, @netflix , are you seeing this? 👀🎬) August 12th release.

Second chance • Fake dating • Broken hero • Slow burn

“You.”

If it’s a Jennifer Hartmann book you know you’re in for an angsty, emotional, and heartfelt ride. This one belongs to Stevie & Lex.

Lex has a tough time connecting. He’s somewhat detached. His past and some pretty terrible parents have left him empty and scarred. But something happens when he meets Stevie. She’s pure joy and her light begins to fade some of the pain. It’s never that simple though, is it.

There’s a moment. One choice. A lie. Then paying for it for years. Time moves forward, but sometimes we get stuck. That’s all I’m going to give you. I think it’s always better to go in blind, but due to the sensitive nature of some of this story you should check the content warning.

“She’s always been my hope, wrapped in dark hair, pale skin, and emerald eyes. Hope of better days, of sweeter living. An all-consuming light just within reach.”

“Come what may.”
