Dream On by Jennifer Hartmann is an absolutely stunning young adult romance that will grab your heart and refuse to let go. This beautiful story follows Lexington, a young Hollywood actor, and Stevie, a farm girl with dreams bigger than her small-town roots, as they navigate the complexities of love, loss, and finding their way back to each other.

The story opens with these two unlikely souls crossing paths in high school, where they bond while performing together in their school play. Hartmann masterfully captures those tender, awkward moments of young love – the stolen glances during rehearsals, the nervous energy of first connections, and the magic that happens when two people truly see each other for who they are.

But life, as it often does, has other plans. Tragic events tear Lexington and Stevie apart, sending them down vastly different paths – him to the glittering world of Hollywood, her back to the simplicity of farm life.

What makes this story so compelling is how Hartmann weaves their separate journeys back together. The author has a gift for showing how people can grow and change while still carrying pieces of their past with them. When Lexington and Stevie find each other again, they're no longer the teenagers who fell in love on a high school stage, but the connection between them burns as bright as ever.

Be prepared for this book to put you through the wringer – in the best possible way. This story will have you laughing out loud one moment and reaching for tissues the next, sometimes within the same chapter. The emotional depth is incredible, and the way she balances humor with heartbreak is nothing short of masterful.

Dream On is a beautifully written testament to the power of first love, second chances, and the way some connections are simply meant to be. Jennifer Hartmann has created characters that feel real and relatable, with a love story that will stay with you long after you turn the final page.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves young adult romance with depth, heart, and characters you'll fall in love with yourself.

If there is one things that Jennifer Hartmann is good at it is at telling a story and that will get you to feel a range of emotions. Dream On is yet again a story of young love upon first meeting that. As per the synopsis you know it doesn’t last and that they meet up again 4 years later. So it is a second chance romance.
This book is told in three parts and is in first person. Something I loved was that the first part was centered around them being in a school musical together. And its moulin Rouge. To tell you that I was obsessed with that movie and musical is an understatement. So Jennifer brought my musical love into this book and I loved that.
I really don’t want to dive into the conflict that surrounds both characters becuase I feel like that will take away from the readers experience but just know that there is content in the book that readers will find issues with. Please read the authors notes before going into this as you should be informed before going into this. I will say for a book that is also genrefied under the teen imprint there are opened door scenes similar to her previous teen publiscation Catch the Sun and it happens when they are adults. This is more of a New Adult book.
I loved the story. If Jennifer Hartmann writes it I am going to read it!

Thank you to Bloom for the completmentary copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First book I’ve read from this author, and was honoured to have received the ARC of this book.

Dived into the book without much expectations, and no reviews to spoil it for me.

TBH, the rich, bad boy meeting the sweet, low/middle income farm girl was a little too cliche at the beginning. I caught myself thinking, “Not again… she’s going to try to change him or heal him.”
I do however appreciate that it was not set in the school going years, and showed their lives as adults, four years later.

Personally did not think it was necessary for the author to introduce a sexual predator/grooming character in, making it feel a little too similar to Fifty Shades of Grey’s Mrs Robinson. I felt his family background and complexities were sufficient enough to show the impact it had on his life.

Otherwise, a total decent read, with a little spice (still within acceptable limits for me as a non spice reader.)

Dream On by Jennifer Hartmann is a captivating and emotionally charged read that kept me hooked from the first page to the last. The story of Stevie and Lex—a reunited childhood sweethearts whose past star-crossed romance is now playing out in the limelight—delivers a perfect blend of Hollywood glam, heartache, and forbidden temptation. Hartmann expertly explores the thin line between fiction and reality, weaving a compelling tale of old wounds, new beginnings, and the risks you take when love gets complicated. Lex, the charming Hollywood icon, and Stevie, the small-town girl with stars in her eyes, complement each other perfectly, and their chemistry is palpable. Their fake romance might just be the beginning of something genuine—if only they can trust each other enough to see where it leads. The pacing is fast, the emotions run deep, and the story manages to evoke both laughter and tears. Hartmann’s writing captures the glamour of Hollywood and the vulnerability of second chances beautifully, making this a perfect read for anyone who loves stories about redemption, passion, and the messy complexity of falling in love again. Dream On is a tempting blend of fantasy and reality—a story about chasing dreams, risking heartbreak, and discovering that sometimes, love is worth rewriting the rules. A definite four-star winner that will leave you rooting for second chances and new beginnings.
