This was such a lovely read. My son is obsessed with everything that has to do with space and I think this book would be perfect for him. It has a lovely friendship message and the stunning illustrations add depth and humor to this already great book. I would definitely suggest this

Not just adorable, but educational, too! What's there not to like? An adorable, smart, and appealing dog Rover, who makes an outstanding case for joining his human on the moon. I'm surprised NASA didn't jump at the chance! Highly recommend.

This book will be perfect for our Space unit! I loved Rover’s comparisons of himself to the rovers that NASA uses. At the end of the book I loved the facts and information about real rovers. This is a fun way to introduce space to my 1st graders.

Earth Rover by Taylor Woolley is a sweet story about a dog called Rover whose owner has gone on a NASA mission. Missing his human and unable to bear the long distance, he writes a letter to NASA pitching why he would make the best Lunar Rover.
The illustrations beautifully enhance the story. The various photo snapshots of Rover and his human show their bond.
There is more information about moon explorations, the Rover toolbox, and the Journey to the Moon at the end of the book.
This is perfect for kids who enjoy books about dogs and space.

I absolutely loved this book! This is an adorable story with beautiful illustrations. The story follows Rover the dog, who writes to NASA on why he is the perfect choice to be the next lunar rover. There are more details about space and moon exploration simplified for children.
This book is perfect for those who love dogs and loves space.

My 5 year old loved the sweet dog named Rover and the illustrations. The illustrations were simple enough to understand the story with cute detail.

This was such a fun read! I loved the mix of facts and fiction, and the letter-writing style made it extra engaging. Rover is super cute, and my son really enjoyed the story—we had a great time looking at the pictures and chatting about space. The illustrations are lovely, with soft colors and diverse characters.
Thank you NetGalley and Familius for the eARC!

Rover is a pooch after my own heart. I too have often dreamt of being an astronaut and think I could be very helpful to NASA’s mission. The story was perfect and lighthearted. The illustrations were wonderfully done and helped us understand exactly why Rover should be in space.

There's nothing like a humorous yet educational children's book! What an enjoyable little story from a pup's perspective.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

*Earth Rover* by Taylor Woolley is a charming and imaginative picture book that blends humor, heart, and a touch of science. Rover, a determined and lovable dog, dreams of becoming a NASA moon rover. He’s convinced he would make a better rover than any robot, proudly pointing out that he never tips over and loves feeling the wind in his fur. His playful enthusiasm shines as he even writes a letter to NASA, hoping to be chosen for the job. Though he doesn’t quite make it to the moon, he gets his moment of joy when his owner, a NASA employee, brings him to work for "bring your pet to work day."
The story is sweet and funny, and the illustrations add an extra layer of warmth and personality. Rover is drawn with such expression and charm that it's impossible not to root for him. At the end of the book, readers are treated to a brief but informative section about lunar travel and how real moon rovers operate. This educational touch makes the book both entertaining and enriching. I really enjoyed this delightful read and would give it 4 out of 5 stars. I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and Familius.

I thought this was a well written story with a good blend of facts and fiction. Rover was super cute and I liked that it was narrated in a letter writing style. My young child was also engaged and we looked at the pictures and discussed space. I appreciated the illustrations and the variety of people depicted in the book, as well as the softer muted tones and colours used. Being a teacher, the extra facts and additional information about the moon was both informative and a helpful teaching tool. I would love to read this in a classroom one day and I think it’s a wonderful picture book.

Fall in love with canine Rover while learning great facts about robotic Lunar Rover!

"Mom's" Review:
Earth Rover is a sweet, intentionally silly, yet still very educational story! I love how the author managed to roll facts about both space rovers (the robots) and want-to-be "space" Rovers (aka a canine Basset Hound) all into one cohesive story. Nearly tit-for-tat, one rover🤖 fact is shared and countered by a similar Rover🐾 fact.
The illustrations looked like they were colored pencil, or if digitally done, in the style of colored pencils and reminded me a little of classic children's hand drawln images. Rover's expressions were just the cutest! Really cute!
For your more curious kiddos, there's a little extra, denser information on the final few pages that gets a bit more technical about space travel, NASA, and rovers🤖 allowing the book to have a slightly larger age range that perhaps the "story" portion alone would normally cover.
A's Review:^
I loved this book so much! I read a book yesterday about a robot Rover on Mars so it was really fun to read about two different Rovers today! And Rover the puppy was so silly!
The facts at the end were so cool. I had Mommy read those to me so I could enjoy listening to them. And now I want to go to Florida for vacation just so I can watch a spaceship take off for outer space! I didn't know that the Moon's gravity is what helped bring the lander down!
C's Review:*
Rover's toes were so cute! He's such a big dog with little toes! And his ears looked so soft. I loved watching him pretend to explore the Moon with his owner. He looked so good in his spacesuit!
In the beginning of the book, his owner had a telescope. I want a telescope so I can look at the stars and the moon! I really like looking at the stars at night when I can see them.
Thank you to NetGalley, Taylor Wolley, and Familius Books for the chance to review this adorable book!
° = Our Plot/Lesson rating is how well the kiddos picked up on the morals/lessons learned or well recieved the facts were.
^ = A, "Ready to Read" level 3, voracious reader
* = C, learning her letters, but memorizes stories well!

"Earth Rover" by Taylor Woolley is the story of an older hound dog aptly named Rover. He misses his human companion terribly while she is away. We see through flashback photos that he has been with her since his puppy days and has never been apart from her for long periods of time. So sweet and loyal Rover hatches a plan to join her by writing a letter to NASA, where his owner works as an astronaut, pleading to be allowed to join her on her Artemis mission to the Moon- as an official Moon "Rover".
I shared this book with my young son who happens to be very obsessed with all things space right now, so this definitely was enjoyable for him. Silly dog puns scattered throughout the story made this a fun selection for him as well.
I found this book to be an easy read and the mistaken Rover to be adorable in his certainty about what a better Rover he would make than a robotic Rover.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and to Netgalley for making this electronic book available to me for review.

Such a sweet and uplifting story—especially for children (and adults) who love dogs.
Many pet owners dream of never parting with their furry companions, even at work— and unlike human children, our four-legged friends sometimes really do get to join their “parents” at work. What a joy that must be.
This book captures that happiness beautifully, with warmth and heart.

A fun play on words taken to the next level. A dog learns about what rovers do in space. Along with the text, we get to see the dog reenact what he imagines rovers do in space. The reader can enjoy the cute dog or focus more on the text. The end notes have more in-depth details that will appeal to some readers who were drawn in by the story.
Thank you for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.

Earth Rover by Taylor Woolley is an utterly charming picture book that blends humor, imagination, and education in a delightful way. Told through the perspective of Rover, an adventurous dog who dreams of becoming a lunar rover, the story is presented as a playful letter to NASA, complete with hilarious illustrations and clever wordplay. Young readers will love Rover’s endearing determination while also learning fascinating facts about space exploration, seamlessly woven into the narrative. With its heartwarming storyline and engaging visuals, Earth Rover is perfect for dog lovers, space enthusiasts, and curious minds alike.
Thank you to Taylor Woolley and Familius Publishing for the eARC!

I grabbed Earth Rover because of the adorable cover—our household is all about hounds! So glad I did, because this book is a real gem. It’s such a cute story told from a dog’s perspective, which is perfect for teaching older elementary students about perspective. My toddler absolutely loved it, and I appreciated how the humor and easy-to-follow story make it great for young readers. The illustrations are fantastic, and the addition of factual information at the end of the book is a wonderful touch that extends its appeal to older readers.
As someone who sometimes struggles with reading picture books digitally, I did have some formatting issues with the Kindle version—pages split awkwardly, and the colors were off in the NetGalley reader, making the text hard to read. However, I’m confident it will look great in print. I wouldn’t hesitate to add Earth Rover to my home library or my classroom collection. Thanks to NetGalley and Familius for the ARC!

I absolutely loved Earth Rover! This story is heartwarming, educational, and perfect for dog or space lovers alike. The space facts are woven in so naturally that kids won't even realize they are learning. The illustrations are adorable and I loved the addition of facts on rovers and moon explorations at the end! I will be purchasing a copy for my library (great to pair with a space science unit) and at home for my space loving toddler!
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy!

Earth Rover is a children's picture book that I was able to read an ARC version of, thanks to NetGalley.
A beautifully cute story about how Rover (a dog) is telling NASA how he would make a great Lunar Rover so he could join his human in space. Well-done story with cute illustrations and also very informative about how the lunar rover works in a fun & cute way. This is a great way for children to learn about it. Would absolutely read it again and show it to the children I work with. Plus who doesn't love stories with dogs 🐶

Let me start by saying this: Rover, I'd hire you in a heartbeat. Move over NASA, I got this one.
More seriously, in Earth Rover, author/illustrator Taylor Woolley weaves the story of Rover, a dog who thinks space rovers are pups like him. With delightful puns and pictures that capture the double meaning of Rover's words, this story is told as if the title character is writing resume (and in my opinion, a very successful one at that). I especially enjoyed how the characters reflected a range of identities.
With a fact sheet at the end, this book is perfect for kids who love space and those wishing to introduce them to the subject matter in a fun, yet informational way.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC, and thanks to the author as well for creating a story I would be more than happy to share with my child when she's old enough.
5 stars.
