The story follows Rover, an endearing dog with dreams of becoming a lunar rover. Convinced that his skills—such as navigating various terrains, digging up rock samples, and being spaceship-trained—make him the perfect candidate for lunar exploration, Rover pens a heartfelt letter to NASA. The narrative unfolds with a charming mix of innocence and determination as Rover embarks on his imaginative journey.
Earth Rover is a delightful addition to children's literature, offering a blend of humor, imagination, and education. Its engaging story and informative content make it a valuable resource for parents and educators aiming to inspire young minds about the wonders of space.

This book was utterly adorable! I always love a book that's about dogs, and this book did not disappoint one bit. Rover was such a fun character to read about, and the author definitely allowed his unique personality to shine through. By the end of the book, readers know who Rover is and exactly what his dream is. Another thing that helped convey this was the illustrations. The illustrator did a fantastic job of showing Rover's many emotions and creating a fully formed personality. What's even better was the way this book was organized and written. It was such a smart decision to have this book be written in the form of two letters. It added to the uniqueness of this book and made for a more personal reading experience. As the reader, I really felt involved in the story, and I had so much fun reading this story. Lastly, the ending was so heartwarming and was definitely a happy surprise! Bravo!

A dog dreams of being a lunar rover and the book basically acts as his resume for the job position, as he states all of the reasons why he would be a good candidate for the role. It's a cute story with a happy ending and is perfect for children who love space and animals - best of both worlds! The info in the back of the book is also very informative and the book could be a useful tool in schools. The illustrations are wonderfully done and clearly indicate that the dog is dreaming about the job, which can help to prevent potential confusion among children about the storyline.
I suggest increasing the text size on the pages to fill up space and make it easier to read.
Great book overall and I'd be interested in checking out the published version!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishing company Familius for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

This was completely adorable! Rover was the BEST, I loved him so much. The illustrations were so cute!!

This was surprisingly more educational and informative!! I went in expecting a cute story about a dog and was so surprised but definitely not mad. After all it IS still a cute story about a dog too!

What a fun space-themed book!
This had beautiful and adorable illustrations. I also enjoyed all the puns as well. This had a great ending that young readers will appreciate and included some informative material about moon exploration and rovers in the back matter!
I'd love using this in a space unit or space-themed storytime.

What an amazing book! I was so impressed with the way the author tied together the fictional dog Rover with a “Space Rover.” The letter writing and subsequent letter editing, mixed with factual information about space travel and dogs is done seamlessly. The subtle jokes will not be missed by parents and will be another layer that kids can engage with. Added to an already really strong book is the back matter with more Rover information!

Review from my six year old: “Such a silly book! Rover is so cute and his letter shows he would be good in space with his human.”
Cute dog/space puns.

This book has the benefit of teaching children about two diverse subjects: dogs and space. My favorite fact—how deep underground dogs can sense water. That one blew my mind!
Fascinating facts and lovely illustrations, make this a great learning tool.

This one was a fun read, of the dog of an astronaut that wants to be an astronaut himself. It opens the conversation about space and science with children and at the end, it has a summary of the Artemis project which I find very interesting, but maybe focused for older kids than my own.
Thanks Taylor for writing books!

This is a very cute book about a pet wanting to go to space with it's owner. It makes an excellent case in a letter and it has comedy and at the end of the book a glossary and more information about space travel. Excellent book for ages 3-5 year old.

I absolutely loved this. It was informative about both dogs and space, featured the Artemis lunar mission, and was all around cute. 10/10. I'll definitely be getting this not just for my library but for my kiddo. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read!

Follow Rover the dog as he writes to convince folks to send him to space to act as a space rover. Through the book Rover goes through all the reasons he would be a good space companion and we learn that his person is an astronaut and he really wants to accompany her to space. Super cute and heartwarming story that teaches kids about space and space exploration. I came away with a better understanding of how spacecraft trajectories through space and how they orbit planets before landing.

4.5 Stars
This book was so cute. The theme, Rover, the illustrations, and the humor made this a truly delightful read.
Highly recommend this book to those who enjoy the wonders of space and their furry friends!
Thank you to Taylor Woolley and Familius for granting me an ARC through NetGalley.

"Earth Rover" is a delightful book for kids about a dog who dreams of going to space through a letter format. At the end, there are some cool facts about space travel. It's a great read for any child who loves adventure and dreams big.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Netgalley ARC - Cute! A lighthearted story of an astronauts dog who writes a letter to NASA, asking to be the next lunar rover. Very sweet, with a few pages that showcase some information about rovers.

I've recently been quite eager to read more space-themed books and this was a joy to read! Taylor Woolley's text and art are hilarious and informative, where you learn what all goes on in 's head and also learn quite a lot about space! The illustrations are engaging, bright and the blues and purples set the "space" really well! I very much enjoyed reading this book!
There is also additional text sharing information about moon exploration!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

what an adorable story about a dogs dream to go to space! this one was so interesting and the illustrations were perfect for the story! little scientists are gonna love this one!

A cute book about dogs and space. Rover is a very good pup who wants to go to space with their human. They write a letter to NASA explaining how they are better than a robot in space. There are funny little mistakes in the letter such as crossing out "ruff, ruff, ruff" and writing rough. Although Rover is rejected from going into space, NASA invites them to "Bring Your Pet to Work Day" along with their human. A very fun book for all ages.

Ahh Rover, what a good boy you are! The best boy! Such a sweet book about an aspiring Lunar Rover. Earth Rover is a very fun read, and the illustrations are beautiful! My son’s favorite part, the numbered list describing how spacecraft launches reach the moon; personally, I like the NASA day trip, but he and I look for different things in our books.
I do think the font needs to be bumped up quite a bit in size. There isn’t a need for so much open space on the pages, and reading this in dim light (nap time, bed time) will be difficult/borderline impossible. I have pretty close to perfect eyesight, and read this on a full size tablet, but I had to bring the book close to my face for some of the small text. If it were easier to read, this would be 5 stars-because the story is something my son loved!
