It wasn’t offensive it was just kind of nothing. The characters were underdeveloped and the romantic plot lines were even less developed so you kind of just struggle to care. I’ve read so much worse, but also so much better.

This was a nice clean romance.
I personally am not a fan of 3rd person POVs and SO many POVs. It was a little much to keep up with. But it was a decent read. The narration was also good.

Who doesn't love a super cute small beach town summer romance? These sisters are adorable & snarky!
Description
Savannah is on a mission to reconnect the Prestly sisters the best way she knows how: reliving their carefree childhood summers at the beach. She's booked the same beach house, convinced her sisters to take the month off, and even made a bucket list to fit in all their favorite coastal fun. It's going to be perfect . . . or else. (And if planning this trip has anything to do with a certain secret she's hiding . . . well, let's not dwell on that.) Sun, sand, and some sisterly bonding--what could possibly go wrong?
Enter Bianca, the baby of the family, with a huge announcement: she's getting married! And her sisters' reactions are . . . not exactly what she hoped for. But Bianca is on a mission to prove that she's not the mess they think she is. Her grand plan? To find love for Cora, her perpetually single sister, on the same dating app where she found her fiancé. The stakes? A bet that if Cora can't find her 'One' on the app, Bianca will call off her engagement. A challenge Bianca is all too ready to tackle head-on, even if it means a little conniving. Cora's about to get swept off her feet, whether she likes it or not!
Meanwhile, Cora is rolling her eyes so hard they might get stuck. Love is a fairy tale for other people, not her. As she's filling out her dating profile, she thinks--nope, she knows--it'll be easy to show her sisters just how absurd this whole love thing is. So what if this Jax guy Cora just matched with is Hemsworth-brother hot? And, if his messages could be believed, maybe even slightly charming? None of this is real, anyway--love just doesn't come easily Cora. And she's getting ready to prove it. She's got this under control.

What Not to Do on Vacation
by Rachel Magee
Narrated by Karissa Vacker
Publisher: Thomas Nelson

What Not to Do on Vacation is a warm and heartfelt escape that blends emotional vulnerability with breezy vacation vibes. When a vacation mix-up sends a Type-A heroine to Mexico instead of Paris, she’s forced to loosen up. And maybe even fall in love.
The characters are endearing, the chemistry subtle but believable, and the emotional layer adds weight to an otherwise light setting. It’s a charming, easy read with just enough depth to keep things interesting.
A lovely pick for fans of sweet, sunlit romance with a touch of healing and growth.

A chaotic vacation romp with heart, What Not to Do on Vacation is part comedy of errors, part introspective detour. It leans heavily into slapstick misadventures and exaggerated mishaps, which made for a fun (if sometimes over-the-top) ride. The real strength, though, lies in the emotional undercurrent—friendship, personal growth, and learning to let go. While some plotlines felt a bit rushed or too convenient, I still found myself rooting for the characters. A solid summer read with a touch of soul.

Very cute. How to loose a guy in 10 days vibes.
Loved that it was heavy on the sisters relationships as well as the love relationships

This was a cute story about 3 sisters, Bianca, Cora and Savannah, trying to relieve childhood memories at the beach. I enjoyed the narrator; however, I was very confused at the beginning trying to keep the different viewpoints in order. This book was very light and an easy read. There was the perfect amount of drama and family conflict without going over the top.

3.5 ⭐️s, rounded up : Narration was good & added to the enjoyment of the story. A cute beach read. Found it to be a fast listen.
Somewhat predictable, but that’s kinda what beach reads are all about. Sister/family drama, romance, self reflection and remembering perfect often doesn’t look like we think it does. Likable characters & enjoyable summer story.
Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for a free ARC of the audiobook.

I tried really hard to like this book based on the reviews. I kept forcing myself to read it, but I had to give up at 38% in. Absolutely nothing of interest happened, Three sisters on vacation who had grown apart after their parents' divorce. There was not one truly likable character, and the dating plotline felt forced..

I LOVED What Not to Do on Vacation! The characters were so relatable and realistic, and I flew through this book. Perfect for a summer beach read, and I could not put it down. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone.

Sweet and sassy. A story of sisters coming together, traditions, family secrets and bets that turned out good and bad.
When three sisters come together as adults to relive their childhood summers at the cottage they learn a lot about each other. Family secrets come out, they stick by each other as much as they butt heads and they fall in and out of love all in one summer.
10 things I hate about you meets how to lose a guy in 10 days makes for a funny and sweet story.

First off - I think the narrator did great.
Overall, I think this book was a good one. I felt at times it may be a little long for what it was, but it was still one I got through without wanting to quit (which I sometimes get like if it feels like it's taking too long). I think the rom-com aspect was cute and the different dynamics of partners, friends, and family members was interesting to read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for providing an ALC of Rachel Magee's "What Not to Do on Vacation". This book was masterfully narrated by Karrisa Vacker.
This perfect summer book is filled with love, laughs, siblings being silly, and so much more. While the book was a light summer rom-com on the surface, the deeper vein of sisterly love provided a bit of depth to the characters and story. Three sisters (Savannah, Bianca, Cora) agree, with some hesitation, to meet up at the rental house in Florida from their childhood for a chance to reconnect, fulfilling their mother's last wish. Time, distance, responsibility, and more have kept the sisters apart, but they will have an entire month to reconnect and relive some of their best childhood memories.
The sisters and their love lives couldn't be more different from each other, but when the youngest announces her (completely unexpected and extremely fast) engagement, they band together to try to make sense of it all. Cora likes to believe she's in control all the time, but let's be serious, things couldn't be further from the truth - especially when it comes to her complete lack of a dating life. Cora believes her sisters a ridiculous, but even more so when they suggest she start dating... the town playboy! Let the silliness and summer laughs begin.
This was such a fun read, and the narration was absolute perfection. I cannot recommend this book enough. Grab it to take along on your next vacation.

This was so much fun! This story drew me in right away, with all three sisters being distinctly different, well-developed, and each having a unique set of issues but enjoying their time together in the same rental they had as kids. I loved getting to know each of them and laughed alongside the two when Bianca’s fiancé arrived. The banter between the sisters as well as their romantic interests was funny and the whole book was entertaining, perfect for a beach read or a rainy afternoon.

This was a cute and fun, easy read—perfect for summer! The setting was charming, and the lighthearted romance made it enjoyable throughout. Some of the sister drama felt like it dragged on a bit longer than necessary, but overall, it was an entertaining and breezy escape. Great for fans of feel-good beach reads.

3.5 ⭐ rounded down for this romcom that's obviously perfect for the summer / beach.
This is a pleasant beach or summer read!
The audiobook was well narrated and the story tight.
I recommend if you want to go to Florida for a story about three sisters... And a couple of love stories along the way.
Story: Three sisters go back to the Floridan beach cottage they went to every summer when they were kids, before their parents got a divorce.
Will they be able to have a summer that rivals with the one they had as kids?
The middle sister is not so sure about that as her short flight turns into a mess and they lose her luggage. The oldest sister wants to have the best summer so the sisters become a tight unit once more. The younger sister, the wild card, is engaged...to someone she met online through a matchmaking app but never in real life.
So they enter a bet. The middle sister will try the app and if she finds love, the youngest can marry her fiance with her sisters' approval.
My thoughts: The best part of this book is the brilliant idea to have POVs for the three sisters!
Overall, I think this is a nice book but I feel like we missed some things in order to immerse in the two younger sisters' relationships and budding love stories. There was emotional depth and complications. Predictable things as with many summer romcoms.
All in all, a nice uncomplicated beach read.

This is such a cute and sweet summer read. I love a book with multiple perspectives. The book follows three sisters who go back to the beach they use to go to with their family prior to their parents divorce and their mom’s death. All of the sisters have unique personalities and perspectives. And they are all hiding something from each other. But this sweet beach town brings them together in unexpected ways. Such a good summer read!

A enjoyable read that makes the perfect beach or summer read. Had me hooked as I listened along and waiting ro see what would happen next.
The narrator did an amazing job and I loved listening along.
Many moments had me laughing and I enjoyed it.

“What Not to Do on Vacation,” a lighthearted and enjoyable beachside romance novel by Rachael Magee, follows the journey of three sisters who reunite after a divorce and the tragic passing of their mother due to cancer. Each sister faces their own set of challenges and obstacles, and I thoroughly enjoyed the personal growth and transformative experiences they undergo throughout the story.
I listened to the audiobook version and was delighted by the narrator. They were easy-to-understand and had a delightful male impression, perfectly complemented the flow of the narrative, making it an enjoyable listening experience.
Thank you Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

What Not to Do on Vacation is an utterly charming, feel-good read. Perfect for the beach. I really loved the relationship between the sisters; their bond was heartfelt, funny, and refreshingly real and the banter between them was great. The story had just the right mix of mishaps, laughter, and sweet moments, and the happily-ever-after ending left me smiling. A light, breezy escape that hits all the right notes!
