I’ve read a lot of books about perimenopause and menopause in the past decade. I only read books by doctors or trusted health professionals to avoid the bs that surrounds Women’s health.

Casperson’s book was fabulous. Up to date information and research (with oodles of notes and the back of the book) all told in a conversational, lighthearted way.

There was lots of detailed discussion about hormones that I found fascinating as well as information about sexual health and desire in menopausal women that I was grateful for. The practical stuff was American-centric, but it has given me enough information about the results of new studies to talk to my doctor about what alternatives might be available in Australia.

Highly recommended for any woman over 35 (and her partner).

What strikes me most is the author's emphasis on dismantling fear-based narratives around menopause. Too often, women navigate this transition with outdated information and cultural shame. Casperson's science-backed approach combined with empowerment messaging suggests this could be genuinely liberating for readers who've felt confused or dismissed by traditional medical approaches.

This book has some solid information, and tries to be informative, but I feel like the "vibe" of the book (for lack of a better word) is wrong. The language is a flash back to the 80s or 90s? Not really sure, but it almost makes the book feel dated, and not in a good way. It feels like someone is living there. I don't agree with all of the information, but a different view on all of the stuff going on in this book and others is refreshing.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC. These opinions are my own.

This was chock full of useful information for women. To know that women can live their later half of life with great quality is refreshing. Getting past the old stigmas that have been ingrained in us and taking our heath in our own hands is the key.
I didn’t agree with the views and responsibilities of FDA. My opinion is they have fallen short and I cannot help but wonder is there is some financial motivation. This was an informative book that I recommend for all, women and men.

I jumped at the opportunity to read and review Dr. Kelly Casperson's new book, The Menopause Moment. Dr. Casperson is a urologist who strongly advocates for women's education about thier own bodies and access to hormonal treatment. I came across Dr. Casperson years ago on YouTube when I was searching for information about pelvic floor dysfunction. She provides complicated information in an easy to understand manner and provides research based solutions. Unlike the solutions she had for pelvic floor dysfunction, many of the solutions she provides in The Menopause Moment, are not currently available to all women. This book is more than a resource for women considering menopause hormone therapy, it is a push for rethinking how to treat the symptoms of menopause. I encourage everyone to read this book and consider how our current healthcare system treats women and views menopause. Thank you to Dr. Casperson, Sheldon Press, and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy of The Menopause Mooment.

I was disappointed with The Menopause Moment. I knew that I would learn about the importance of hormones on the body and the effects their depletion had on the body which were well written. Unfortunately this book seemed to suggest the only way to reduce all menopause effects was to take medically prescribed hormones rather than other ways to manage symptoms.

Grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.As a women going through this cycle of life and an RN it is important to have correct information and have it delivered at an enjoyable personal level, it was as if being in consultation where the doctor actually spends the time you need to understand and helps you make decisions for yourself. The author Dr Casperson felt like a friend giving me the lowdown and she is funny! Loved the honesty and reality. Highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with menopause or has a loved one going through it.

The Menopause Moment is a refreshing, empowering, and much-needed resource that cuts through the confusion and stigma surrounding midlife and menopause. Kelly Casperson delivers science-based insights with clarity and compassion, helping women understand what’s really happening in their bodies—without fearmongering or outdated myths.

This isn't a one-size-fits-all prescription; instead, Casperson offers readers the knowledge to make informed choices about hormones, health, and longevity. It's part science, part mindset shift, and completely affirming. As more women raise their voices around this once-taboo topic, books like this feel revolutionary in their honesty and helpfulness.

The only thing holding it back from a perfect rating is a desire for even more real-life applications or stories—but as an educational foundation, it’s powerful. For anyone navigating or approaching menopause, this is an essential, sanity-saving guide.

Another insightful and informative addition to the growing collection of books on menopause. While I found this book incredibly helpful—especially in introducing me to the estrogen patch and encouraging me to explore it further—I do wish there were more resources that delve specifically into the nuances of early menopause and life after menopause. Menopause may be a natural phase, but let’s be honest—it’s no walk in the park. Still, this book offered both clarity and validation, which I deeply appreciated.

Many thanks to NetGalley and John Murray Press US | Sheldon Press for providing an eARC of The Menopause Moment: Mindset, Hormones and Science for Optimal Longevity prior to publication.
