I really enjoyed this story. The writing style was different than most mysteries I read. It provided a clear description of each setting which I loved. I did not love Faith though and I am guessing that was intentional. The twist was shocking but the ending did not leave me fully satisfied. I wish there would have been more. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Jessie Garcia does it again bringing another mystery about the television world and the reporting staff. The Fair - Weathered Friend focuses on Faith and the station she works for. She has gained a almost cult like following for her weather reporting and her pizzaz that she has added to the weather with her earrings and other fun things. However, Faith doesn't return to the show for the evening forecast. The staff thinks she has just pulled a diva moment -morning she's been found dead. The mystery begins as the town and Faith's fair weathered friends group grieve one of their own and look to solve the mystery.

This was a fast-paced read for me, I just glanced over the first couple of pages while listening to an audiobook… because why not? Then I was hooked and had to pause my audiobook and finish this!
For me, this was a page-turner but I felt like the ending was too unbelievable for me to really enjoy, and some of the writing was choppy which really bothered me. I will say I enjoyed this one far more than The Business Trip!
I’ll definitely give her third a try, should she write another.

I try not to write bad reviews but this one is not ready for print. It’s needs some grammar editing, but most of all it needs some plot work if possible. The co-workers characters were not well developed, especially the ones Faith targeted. I didn’t feel their relationships were bad enough that they should be on the list. Also, the relationship between Faith and Hope was not developed enough. I felt I needed more reason why hope would do what she did in the end. I feel like the truth between them needed to come out. Finally, I didn’t find the ending with Olivia plausible. It was a little too “neat”.

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. I was excited to read this based on the description and it did not disappoint.
To me it felt a little like Gone Girl.
It’s about Faith Richards, the fair-weather friend. She’s a meteorologist for Channel 9 in Detroit.
Faith leaves for dinner break on night, and goes missing.
From there it gets interesting. It’s told from multiple viewpoints, which helps the story flow.
It was a relatively fast read. The only reason it took me 4 days to read, was I had other stuff going on lol.
Definitely worth the read.
8/10. Would recommend

A great book…though I was pulling for a different ending! A quick, fun read. When the tv meteorologist disappears between broadcasts, the mystery heats up quickly.

This book is a swift, sharp, and cleverly plotted domestic thriller. It is a solid choice for readers who love methodical mystery over emotional immersion. So much is going on with the story and it goes in many different directions!
Twisty, Ensemble of Perspectives and the Finale is Satisfying! 5 stars! This so good and a top 5 read for 2025!

When i started this book, i really didn't think I would like it. It started off really cheesy, and I thought it was going to be like a lifetime movie. The storyline did get better, and I ended up really enjoying it. The ending had a good twist and a good mystery element. The book doesn't release until January 20th, 2026. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC and the opportunity. All reviews are my honest opinions.

The first half of this book was better than the second half. I was very into it and liked the style of writing. I thought the climax and conclusion was very unbelievable so that brought my rating down. Kind of left some plot holes hanging at the end as well.

I LOVED the Business Trip and was excited to see The Fair Weathered Friend by Jessie Garcia coming out. She is so talented at writing small town atmospheric, character profiles, and gripper of "what happened" plots. Faith Richards is a popular TV meteorologist that her fans call her the The Fair Weather Friend, even with her own Fan Club. One night, Faith leaves work on a break and never returns. Her body is found the next morning. The town is distraught and secrets are uncovered that may uncover she wasn't as popular with her internal team as we thought.
Just like her first book, this one was a page turner and the multiple POV's really enhanced the story. I found it all very clever and liked the fast paced timeline. Believe it or not, my favorite characters were actually Carol and Jim. Yes, she seemed like a busybody, but she was written so well! This would make a easy and fun thriller read for bookclubs or buddy reads. You can make it fun just like Faith did with her Forecast earrings!

Jessie Garcia has done it again! Wow, what a read!
The popular town meteorologist, Faith, is found murdered. Talk about a book of "Clue," this book was your typical "who done it!" Though out the read, your not sure who can be trusted and that was the highlight for me. There are different timelines and stories being told from different points of view. They are told smoothly and really paint a picture for the reader.

So, I truly loved “The Business Trip” by Jessie Garcia and believed “The Fair-Eather Friend” would not disappoint. This book was enjoyable at times and a bit boring…due to multi-POV voices in stories…stories I tend to shy away for this reason. The story is about Faith Richards, a meteorologist for a Detroit new channel who is found dead. Her life is told through various POV characters that were at time unbelievable and left me struggling to the end. This one was not for me, but I will still consider other stories from this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an eARC of this book via NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ooowwwweeeee Jessie Garcia does it again! She is a thriller savant. She is known for several character narrations and again, did not disappoint! Story all about meteorologist Faith and everybody’s POV of their relationship with her and what happened leading up to her death. With enemies like this, it could be anybody! I love the build up she gives for the twist that you KNOW is coming and you KNOW it’s going to be good! Highly recommend! Also if you haven’t read Business Trip, read that one too. The moment I saw a new Jessie Garcia available on Netgalley, I was hoping I’d get it!

This book and this author are so amazing! I loved every minute of this crazy story! It is told in multi- POV's with short chapters. Faith Richards is Detroit's beloved meteorologist, disappears during her dinner break, and is later found strangled. What unfolds is an intricate mystery told through the eyes of a tightly knit circle of characters: coworkers, fans, friends, and even a stalker.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy! This book will be released 1/20/26.

Faith Richards is the meteorologist for a local Detroit news channel. She is very popular and has a Facebook group, Fair Weather Friends, who love her earring forecast, her videos and everything about Faith. Fans think highly of her but do her co-workers, family or friends? When she is found dead, speculations are many but when the police are given a list of possible suspects, the real interrogations begin. Olivia, a channel 9 intern and her Aunt Carol are big fans of Faith and wonder if they can't help solve the mystery, will they help or hinder the investigation?
First, let me say I was really enjoying the murder mystery, the plot was well developed, the suspects were definitely on the list for a reason and I liked the tension between and backstories of the characters and their involvement with Faith. However, the last chapters of the book left me disappointed. One chapter basically wrapped up the plot lines for most of the characters, it was as if the author needed to finish the book and just spewed out the plot lines. You need to suspend any rational or logical process to believe the way the murder was solved. Lastly, the way the book ended was a moment of me stating out loud - seriously?? Overall, I enjoyed this book mostly but how it ended was a big disappointment.

The premise of this book hooked my attention--a beloved weather reporter disappears and is found dead, but has left behind a "hit list" of people who had it out for her--but the execution really didn't pan out. I found almost all of the characters devoid of ethics and/or very boring. I had to force myself to keep returning to this book because I needed to review it, but it didn't hold my attention. When I got to the twist in the middle, I really struggled because it felt so ridiculous. This was my second time trying a Jessica Garcia book (I enjoyed THE BUSINESS TRIP), so I'll give her another chance when her next one comes out, but with a more wary eye.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
This book starts off strong. Right off the bat I was immedietly hooked. Each chapter is told by a different character (which i usually don't like but it didn't bother me with this book). The chapters are short which make this book easy to read. Each chapter left me wanting more and I changed my mind multiple times while reading on what really happened. The ending was surprising and I did not expect it. It did seem a bit strange and I wish more "hints" were put throughout the book that it could have been a possibility instead of fixing the whole plot at one of the last chapters.
Overall, I enjoyed most of this book. It kept me interested the entire time. The ending threw me off guard but I am still impressed by this book. I'm interested in reading more of Jessie Garcias work.

This is such a good book!!! It is a perfect thriller with so many twists and turns. You never really know where the book is going. I think it was full of emotion and great writing! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

The Fair-Weather Friend by Jessie Garcia was my first read from this author, and it’s a fast-paced, multi-layered domestic thriller that delivers suspense with a sharp emotional edge. Set in Detroit, the story follows Faith Richards, a beloved TV meteorologist whose sunny persona masks a life filled with pressure, fame, and hidden enemies. Known affectionately as “The Fair Weather Friend” by her viewers, Faith seems to have it all until she vanishes during a routine dinner break and is found dead the next morning. As the city reels from the shock, a tangled web of suspects and secrets begins to unravel, revealing that Faith’s public charm may have concealed private turmoil.
The characters are compelling and complex, especially Faith, whose life is slowly reconstructed through the perspectives of those who knew her best and worst. Garcia’s signature multi-POV style allows readers to see Faith through the eyes of her allies, adversaries, and those caught in between. Each voice adds depth to the mystery, painting a portrait of a woman who was both adored and resented. The twist comes when long-buried secrets surface, and the investigation exposes not just the truth behind Faith’s death, but the darker undercurrents of ambition, jealousy, and betrayal that surrounded her.
The conclusion is both satisfying and sobering. Garcia doesn’t rely on shock for its own sake; instead, she crafts a resolution that feels earned, emotionally resonant, and true to the characters’ arcs. The final chapters reveal how the deepest wounds often come from those closest to us, and how justice can be as complicated as the people who seek it. For a first-time reader, The Fair-Weather Friend is a gripping introduction to Jessie Garcia’s storytelling smart, layered, and impossible to put down.

It was a slow start for me due to there being so many POVs to establish but once the story had been set I was hooked. There were a lot of moments where I thought I had it all figured out but I truly was thrown for loop after loop until the very end. Overall it was a great read!
