This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

This is my first read by Jessie Garcia and definitely won't be my last!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple perspectives and couldn't believe the final twist. Wow!!! Definitely recommend this one!!

After reading the synopsis of this book, I thought the storyline seemed intriguing. After completing it, I would say “this book just wasn’t for me”. There were so many POV’s to keep track of and I didn’t particularly care for the writing.

I absolutely loved The Business Trip, so I couldn’t wait to read The Fair Weather Friend. Unfortunately, this was not for me. The characters were unbelievable (do people really act like Carol?) as were their actions, all throughout the book. There were many characters and multiple point of views., but it was easy to follow along, and was a quick read.

3.5 stars
This book delivered an engaging storyline with plenty of twists and turns that kept me invested, many of which I truly didn’t see coming. The character development was fairly solid in relation to the plot, though I sometimes found it difficult to keep track of who was who along the way.
The ending, however, left me with mixed feelings. The main character commits a number of terrible actions throughout the book and comes across as deeply unlikeable—yet the conclusion seemed to suggest we were meant to root for her. That disconnect made it hard for me to fully embrace the resolution.
Overall, an intriguing read with strong suspense elements, but one that left me conflicted at the end.

summary:
This book is the perfect blend of comedy, mystery, and suspense—a beach read with a twist. It follows Faith Richards, a popular Detroit TV meteorologist beloved by viewers. When she mysteriously fails to return from her dinner break to go back on air, the community is shocked and concerned. But as secrets unravel and we learn more about her colleagues, family, and past, it becomes clear the real question isn’t whether Faith had enemies—it’s which one wanted her dead.
Despite the many POVs, this book is surprisingly light and easy to follow. Each character has a distinct background, a clear connection to Faith—and a possible motive for wanting her gone. The abundance of red herrings makes the mystery all the more engaging, giving it the feel of a real-life game of Clue. Because the story never lingers too deeply on any one character or suspect, you never truly “side” with anyone. I found myself genuinely ambivalent about who killed Faith, which only heightened the intrigue. It’s a quick, addictive read where every page brings a new revelation.
My favorite element, though, was Aunt Carol and the fan club. Faith’s devoted viewers were both charming and delightfully committed—you can easily picture their excitement over having a local celebrity in their small community. It was sweet, endearing, and added just the right touch of lightness to balance the suspense.
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy, and make sure you check this book out when it releases on January 20, 2026!

The Fair-Weather Friend by Jessie Garcia is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. With coworkers and a fan club like Faith Richards had you don't need enemies. Great Read from this newer author with this being her second novel.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the advance copy of Fair Weather Friend. This one felt a bit more like a mystery than a thriller to me, but I really enjoyed it. The main character was engaging, and the different plot lines from each character’s perspective kept things interesting. I especially liked how the short chapters made it such an easy book to get through while still holding my attention. A solid, character-driven mystery that kept me turning the pages.

This book started out strong for me, but became predictable pretty quickly. The dialogue was bit cringey as well, especially the adoration of the newscaster— kind of creepy to be honest. Not a bad book, but not a phenomenal one either.

I got an ARC of another book by this author a while back called The Business Trip, which I devoured and highly enjoyed, so I was looking forward to this book. For me this book is really hard to follow, there are a ton of POV's and the story kept losing my attention. I like the whole concept, but it definitely fell flat for me. I still encourage others to give this book a try as I seen others thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick and easy read and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed how it wrapped up and figuring out what happened and why. This felt more mysterious than thriller but still a fun read!

This book takes a close look at how fragile friendships can be and what happens when trust begins to crack. The writing is engaging, the atmosphere is vivid, and the characters carry a depth that makes the story linger long after. It’s thoughtful, tense, and deeply satisfying.

This auther is good, the book kept my attention. I basically read it in one sitting. I hope she writes more non-fiction books.

The Fair Weather Friend Jessie Garcia. Told in multiple POVs and flashbacks. Short chapters, a quick and entertaining read. Faith is everyone's fair weather friend on air and in social media but not so nice in real life. The characters are not all likeable and some are Hope-less. Did like the role Mr Bojangles played, quite ingenious.
Thank you to the author, St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

The book summary sounded intriguing and I was excited for a new thriller to read, unfortunately this book was just meh. I almost didn’t want to finish it, but hoped it would get better. I enjoyed the different character perspectives but they were all a little flat. It did have some twists but the ending was a little expected. I would like to try another book from this author as maybe this story just wasn’t for me.
Thank you to NetGalley for letting me have an advanced copy to read.

I liked the concept behind The fairy weather Friend but struggled with the writing. I hope Jessie Garcia continues to work on her fiction as she has great promise.

I read this author’s other book, The Business Trip, and really enjoyed it so I was excited to get this ARC. This was another great book that kept me reading to want to find out what happened. The book had a lot of characters to try and keep straight but once I started reading about that character again I would remember the story associated with them. It had some twists at the end that I didn’t expect as well which is always exciting.

I enjoyed Jessie Garcia's first fiction novel, The Fair- Weather Friend. This story is told through multiple POVs, which I really enjoyed. I liked seeing the slow build of how each person in Faith’s life had wronged her and how her upbrining had caused her to become the woman she was. That being said, it seemed a bit over the top to ruin so many peoples lives over what could be considered small things. I guess it just felt a bit unrealistic to me, but it is fiction :)

dnf @ 20%. i really wanted to get into this one! as a metro-detroit native i figured it would be fun to explore a thriller/mystery in my home area. i loved the premise and it intrigued me off the bat as well as hearing great reviews about the author's debut. unfortunately, this fell really flat for me. the writing felt so clunky and just rough in a way that was not enjoyable. overall underwhelming, shallow and slow to get into -- i just couldn't get into it.
thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Please spare yourself and do not read this book. I'm new to the ARC game, and I Hope (terrible pun as seen at the end of this book) the version I read was an early, early, early draft. The writing was honestly insulting to the intelligence of the human race because I promise you that people know what "talent" means in local news, and you don't have to add "(the industry term for on-air people)" to the sentence. There are SO many moments like that with the writing, and it honestly got to the point where it was funny and felt like a comedy and not a thriller.
Then the plot. It kept me intrigued for part of the book because I genuinely wanted to know who did it, and then the end was so ridiculous, unsatisfying, and unbelievable. I had this problem with the ending of the Business Trip by this author as well.
