I snatched this one up right away after enjoying the author's previous novel.
I enjoyed the fast-paced, multiple-POV mystery and trying to figure out how everything was going to turn out. The characters felt developed and varied but were easy to keep track of. I looked forward to figuring out how it was going to end and was enjoying the ending all the way up to the last few pages. I don't want to spoil it but it felt kind of lackluster and hurried.

There are so many things that I thoroughly enjoyed about this book. Firstly, I love multiple POVs. While I found the many different POVs in this book slightly hard to keep track of - I still enjoyed it.
The characters were well done. I felt like they were portrayed in such a way that I knew / could picture exactly how they were. That’s always a plus for me!
Overall, a great read with an immersive setting!

I thought this was an enjoyable read! It centers on Faith, a popular meteorologist on TV who has a huge fan club. Two members are Carol and Jim, who never miss a segment. Imagine their shock at the announcement of Faith's death. Murdered!
Who on earth would harm her?
Carol's niece Olivia is an intern at the station. Maybe the note Faith gave her to pass along to the manager is a clue...
The story is told from multiple POVs of key people. There is a disgruntled former friend, an exhausted producer, and another meteorologist who wants Faith's position. And it turns out Faith wasn't as angelic as Carol thought. But who would hate her enough to murder her? There has to be an explanation.
I read this quickly; it moves along and is a solid mystery. I can't wait to see what the author writes next.

The Fair-Weather Friend is one of the best books I have read in 2025. I would probably give it a 4.5 star rating if I could. Jessie Garcia has built a great book, with a unique plot and lots of twists and turns. While not all of the characters were likable, they were well developed and relatable. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast paced storyline with lots of twists and turns. They should also like books that jump back and forth in time.

Faith Richard’s is Detroit’s well loved weather woman. One night she disappears and the tv station intern, along with her aunt, decide to figure out what happened to Faith when her body is discovered. Each character has their own little secret and the plot is unravelled. This book had some great twists and turns, I enjoyed it a lot. I’ve become a fan of Jessie Garcia!

The Fair Weather Friend ☀️⛈️☔️❄️
My first Jessie Garcia book was an ARC of The Business Trip. I knew immediately after reading that this was an auto-buy author for me, and I was lucky enough to have this ARC sent to me. This book was just as twisty and turny as her previous and I absolutely ate this book up! I think it took me about a day and a half to read and I loved every minute of it. There were quite a few POVs so at times I found it a bit difficult to keep straight, but I think the POVs all added to the story as a whole. I definitely wasn’t able to predict the ending — while I had my suspicions I was WAYYY off.
Highly recommend this book if you’re a thriller fan!
Four stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you @stmartinspress for the chance to read and review this ahead of time!
Mark your calendars for January 28, 2026 ✏️ 🗓️

I liked the story until I didn’t.
The story was four stars as far as I’m concerned until the 50% mark. I thought it was pretty obvious what was going on at the vigil but I really don’t mind that I figured it out.
What I didn’t like was that Faith and her sister got away with everything. I didn’t like that an innocent person is sitting in jail because of what they did. I didn’t like that Faith and Hope felt they did nothing wrong. I also think with so many people involved somebody’s going to come forward with the truth.
Ultimately, the story is too convoluted and contrived.

Goodness gracious, what a book full of morally dubious characters and actions! I had such a great time with this one. I read Jessie Garcia's debut book, as well, and I liked it quite a bit, but dare I say.... she's gotten even better? So much for a sophomore slump!
Who killed Faith Richard's? Loved by so many (side note: parasocial relationships are WEIRD!), but despised by plenty. An accident in Faith's childhood that resulted in the death of her 3 year old sister had such a lasting effect on Faith and her actions, which shows just how much childhood trauma can be carried into adulthood.... All that aside, seriously, what happened to Faith's? Did her stalker finally get ahold of her? The college friend she stole from- repeatedly? The jealous coworker? This book has several twists and turns, and most characters get what they deserved in the end. This would make an awesome limited-run TV show, for sure! I plan to look for ay future titles by Garcia, and will obviously be recommending this book when it was released.

I read The Business Trip by this author and loved it. I was really looking forward to this one. For the most part it was really good, however I wish the ending had been different. I will continue to read her books though.

I just couldn't get into this book? It was very mystery and slow paced. And mystery aren't my usual genre.

I have only read one other novel by this author, The Business Trip, and I would say that there are some very similar plot points in both novels. One thing I liked in this one was the multiple POVs throughout - getting to experience the story from so many different perspectives kept an otherwise obvious situation a little bit interesting.

I wanted more from the ending and I found myself losing interest the further it went into the story. Almost all of the characters were either boring or somewhat awful and there was no one to really root for.
Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

No offense to the author, but I found this book really boring and drawn-out. The plot twist wasn’t nearly as shocking as I’d hoped. The Business Trip was way more interesting

This book started out very exciting with much promise but it became a farce with the direction the plot took. Totally unrealistic plan and very anticlimactic ending. Five people can keep a secret if four of them are dead.

When beloved meteorologist, Faith Richards, is found deceased, the whole town is devastated... or, mostly. Once foul play is discovered, we must figure out who had enough motive to harm her.
I loved reading the different POV. From a colleague who despises her fake persona, her stalker, and the woman she stole from, it becomes obvious that she's not as "beloved" as we once thought. Honestly, I can't stand her either.
My heart was in my throat the whole time trying to figure out exactly what was going on. Carol and Olivia's characters felt a little naive, but I enjoyed the way they secretly inserted themselves into the investigation.
If you're looking for a thriller filled with endless twists and turns, The Fair-Weather Friend is a fun read!
Thank you so much St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the digital review copy!

“The Fair Weather Friend” by Jessie Garcia is a quick read mystery about a beloved celebrity weather woman who is murdered near the TV station where she works. The book follows several friends, colleagues and possible suspects who knew her well, or thought they knew her well!
I thought the premise intriguing but the characters felt flat to me, and I couldn’t get invested in any of them as they were mostly unlikable. For me, the ending was lackluster, and I really like to be invested in my characters more than happened in this story. It makes the book much more compelling and entertaining for me, but that is just my personal preference.

I enjoyed this story but was a bit underwhelmed with the twist as it was similar to the first book I read by this author. The details and intertwined characters were great- and the storyline was exciting! I think there could be a sequel where the main character gets some revenge on her sister.

I couldn't wait to read this as I just recently read the business trip. This story didn't disappoint, lots of great twists and turns, i thought I had it all figured out and then something new. I like the narration changes, but took a bit to get used to the 1st 2nd 3rd person changes too.

The Fair-Weather Friend by Jessie Garcia is a quietly powerful novel that explores the delicate balance between loyalty and self-preservation. It starts with a simple enough question: What happens when a lifelong friendship begins to fracture under the weight of secrets, betrayal, and time? At the heart of the story are two women—Maya and Jen—whose bond has carried them through childhood, heartbreak, and motherhood. But when Maya faces a personal crisis, she begins to notice that Jen is only around when it’s easy—when things are light and fun, not when life turns messy. The novel unpacks what it means to be there for someone and challenges the idea that history alone makes a friendship unbreakable. Garcia writes with warmth and sharp insight, capturing the nuances of female friendship with honesty and care. Her characters are complex and flawed, and their emotional arcs feel earned. Maya’s journey toward clarity is relatable, especially for anyone who’s ever had to reevaluate a relationship that no longer serves them. What’s especially strong about this book is its realism. There are no over-the-top betrayals or melodrama—just the quiet ache of growing apart and the courage it takes to confront that truth. Garcia gives space to the messy middle—the conversations we avoid, the resentments we carry, the expectations we silently set. The pacing is gentle but never dull, and the ending feels both satisfying and true to life. It doesn’t wrap everything in a bow, but it gives you just enough closure to exhale. The Fair-Weather Friend is a heartfelt, introspective read about friendship, boundaries, and finding your voice. It’s perfect for fans of character-driven stories that reflect the emotional realities of everyday life. Thoughtful, authentic, and quietly brave, this novel is well worth your time.

Jesse Garcia’s THE FAIR WEATHER FRIEND tracks the last days of Detroit’s most popular television meteorologist through the viewpoints of multiple characters, from fans, fanatics, coworkers, friends and family. The police follow the leads they are given for the final arrests, but how valid is that information? A fan and her niece who is interning at the station are the amateur sleuths who move the conclusion to what was a problematic ending for me. That, in addition to the over-done coziness of that central character, detracted from the many good moments of the book.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
