Thanks to Amplify Publishing and NetGalley for this free ARC in return for my honest review.

Let's get this out of the way first. I am 71, never was a runner and have mobility issues. And, I LOVED THIS BOOK!! When I first saw the title it intrigued me, and Marie Leautey's story is one of great endurance and perseverance. This is a truly inspiring story of Marie's journey to become only the 7th person (2nd woman) to run around the world, and in doing so she ran a Marathon each and every day. It took over 2 years, was interrupted by COVID, and also introduced us to people and places that Marie encountered, as well as the goodness of the people she encountered along the way. She went though 16 pair of shoes, ran over 28,000 kilometers, never got a blister, ran in all weather and in all terrain. And so close to finishing this run she developed Covid in Australia - but she kept on running. It was a remarkable feat and basically lets us know what we can accomplish if we put our mind, body and soul into something. This is a marvelous book, an easy read and can teach everyone important lessons. I was sad when the run ended, and I wonder what lies ahead for this remarkable woman!!

What a great story about someone’s love for life, believing in themselves and following their dreams, but what an amazing dream.
Lootie has lived a life of solitude thus far, travelling and enjoying new experiences, then she takes up running and wants to keep on running, around the world!
This inspiring journey follows Lootie as she runs across continents, learning about the world and exploring all it has to offer! There’s so much to learn from reading this book, most of all the lesson is about how the human body works and how it is pushed to achieve.
I loved the way that knowledge and history is shared, human nature is a powerful thing.
So, one woman’s running experience, over a long period of time, gives a personal insight into so many cultures and traditions. I was in awe of Lottie not suffering an injury, Covid only slowed her down towards the end.
Lootie shares her story, bringing her closer to her own family and many others along the way. The next adventure begins when Lootie is ready to experience it!

Huge amount of thanks to Amplify Publishing, NetGalley & the amazingly talented author for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you're looking for a heavy dose of motivation and inspiration, look no further than this woman's story. She ran a marathon a day (yes, you read that correctly) for more than two years, six days a week. Fun fact: she went through 16 pairs of running shoes! This book served as a perfect reminder that the human body is simply amazing. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Amplify Publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review - it's out today!

After getting into running, Marie Leautey decides to take on the challenge of becoming only the second woman to run around the world. This involves crossing at least 4 continents & there are many more rules - more than you would think even when running in a competitive challenge for a world record. After months of preparation, Lootie (name based on many people's pronunciation of her surname) sets off by running through Europe just as Covid strikes the world. With whole countries within Europe closed off, travel to the other continents is impossible at the time, but she rises to the challenge. Running equivalent to a marathon a day for two & a half years, Lootie sees the world from a different angle to most people & finds herself the recipient of many acts of kindness from strangers.

This was an interesting & inspirational read. It's not something I could ever do (same as climbing Everest) but I don't mind living vicariously through these type of books. It was nice to see that the experience not only brought Lootie closer to her family but others who became friends along the way, & it also gave her a new appreciation of the natural world. I think solo running as a woman has a very different risk to it than if a man did it & yet there's only one occasion in the book where the author relates feeling apprehensive or afraid. Maybe I've read too many true crime books but I was glad when a travelling companion came along for two of the four continents. A recommended read.

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Amplify Publishing/Mascot Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

I can't really wrap my head around running a marathon 6 days a week for years! It's an extremely impressive feat, especially when you factor in that she didn't get injured, didn't eat a special diet - and did all this during covid restrictions. I almost can't believe it!

Highly recommended for runners and all athletes, and for women and all those invested in the accomplishments and betterment of women around the world. Lootie is running partly to raise funds for Women for Women International, an organization helping women survivors of war, and she places great emphasis on women's rights and equality throughout the book.

I really enjoyed this book — the pace is great and it’s a real page-turner. Lootie is so inspiring; she ran for 697 days across the world, averaging 40km a day. She navigated all sorts of terrain, as well as the challenges of the pandemic.

As I was reading, I found myself wondering why she wasn’t mentioning any injuries after all that running. But as I read on, it all became clear. Around 79% in, her running philosophy reminded me of a book I’ve read called Born to Run by Christopher McDougall — and lo and behold, she mentions it at 80%!

Lootie has such a positive mindset and prepared and trained appropriately. She experiences her runs through all five senses, and I loved how she talks about looking forward to the opportunities and surprises along the way to a new destination.

I also really enjoyed the historical and cultural insights, as well as the nature and background she weaves throughout the memoir. And the kindness of strangers really stood out.

I especially appreciated the section at the back of the book detailing the journey in numbers — a lovely touch. Amazing book and I fully recommend. I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and and this is my honest review.
