This sweet picture book explores a child's experience of moving into a new, larger home. Lola's mommy is expecting a new baby, and their family needs more space. They work together to pack up their belongings, and they organize the packing process very well, in a way that may give some parents helpful ideas. The moving process goes smoothly, and at the end of the book, Lola goes to bed in her new bedroom.
People who enjoy the Lola series will appreciate this new installment, and it can be a helpful book for families who are preparing to move. The book models what to expect from aspects of the moving process, and it does so in a fairly casual, unemotional way. Kids who are struggling with difficult feelings about a move may not find this book as reassuring, since it doesn't address the emotional hardships involved, but this book can help others prepare for a move without introducing any new fears or feelings that the child hasn't yet had on their own.

I love these books. It’s a simple story. Lola‘s mom is having a new baby and they need a bigger house. They must pack and move. Lola‘s mom is probably one of the most organized packers I’ve ever seen. They move into the new house and things are different but everything will be fine. I love the Lola books and I am glad that new ones are still being published.

Beloved characters Lola and Leo are moving because Mommy is having another baby! This book captures the ups and downs of moving from a child's point of view. This next entry into the Lola and Leo series will be great for libraries and families. Plus the news of a new baby means more new adventures of a growing family to share with a growing family.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
This book does a wonderful job at explaining the moving process to children who might not understand. This book goes into to detail some of the the changes that will be happening such as different neighbors, the space feeling funny, and leaving behind their height chart.
The illustrations of this book were beautifully done.

Thank you to NetGalley and Charlesbridge for the ARC.
I read this book to my little cousin, and he absolutely loved it! It's a charming story that addresses a relatable topic for young children, many of whom experience their parents moving to new places. I can't wait to add this book to our library collection.

Lola continues this time with a story about her family moving. A good book for helping children understand moving and all that comes along with that.

Lola's Moving Day is a sweet picture book in a series of books about Lola and her family. Lola's family is expanding, which requires her family to get a bigger home. Moving a household is a big task that requires significant organization. Lola's family has it covered with numbered boxes and colorful stickers that designate boxes to specific rooms and owned by certain family members. Lola's story explains the process to help the reader understand the particulars of a move and how it can be unsettling but not scary. The illustrations were colorful and detailed, giving us a glimpse of Lola's new home and feelings about the move. This is a great resource for young children who are in the process of moving so they don't feel so scared by the prospect of a new residence, neighbors, and community.

Another winner in the Lola series. My kiddo loves these books and I love how it prepares her for things she will experience. I only wish we had this one a year ago before our move!

Thank you NetGalley and Charlesbridge for the ARC of Lola's Moving Day by Anna McQuinn!
I read this to my upcoming first grader and she really liked this book! She liked the step by step layout of what Lola and her family did to prepare, pack, move and unpack for their new house.
It really was the sweetest story about the family growing and moving to a new apartment around the corner and how Lola helped sort, label and pack up to move. It's a great story for kiddos who are experiencing moving and have nerves about it and how to help with your feelings through it.

Moving day is stressful for adults, but what is it like for children? This delightful picture book follows a family who is moving to a bigger place to prepare for a new baby. Little Lola is stressed by the changes around her. Throughout this story, her mom helps her to see that moving, while stressful, can be exciting and full of possibilities. The illustrations are full of details, and readers will sink into the story to see how Lola handles the changes ahead.

The Lola Reads book series continues to be a family favorite. In this story, Lola leads us through the steps of her family moving to a bigger home because *surprise* they have a new sibling on the way. Anna McQuinn’s writing is so sweet and realistic while Rosalind Beardshaw’s illustrations are gorgeous as alwayss

Lola's Moving Day will be published August 5, 2025.

Lola's Moving Day is about Lola and her growing family as they prepare to move into a larger space and her mum gets ready to have another baby!
I must admit my family's favourite part of the book was the beautiful illustrations! We loved the way that Lola looks after her little brother and helps her parents with the packing in her own little way.
The story was tender, moving, relatable, funny, and cute. The book was the perfect length to keep the kids entertained whilst not being "too much" in the way that many kids books are these days. I didn't realise that Lola's book is part of a series which I will be getting to continue enjoying lovely Lola's stories.

The newest book in the Lola series has two new life events for our main character: a new baby and a new house. This story focuses on packing, and planning the move, as well as anticipating the new location. Lola and Leo are perfect for young children who are learning about their world. I love these books, and recommend this one for schools and libraries.

This is the first of the Lola Books that I've read. Anna McQuinn's text and storytelling is very engaging, soft and feels like a warm hug. Moving can be difficult for not just kids but the parents too. This is a wonderful book to talk about the possibilities of experiencing new things in a new place and also how to go about packing your life and things in many boxes. I learned about using stickers for packing and I will use it the next time I have to move!
Rosalind Beardshaw's illustrations are beautiful, colorful, so soft and expressive! They make the story and the book complete.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
