Another Thursday Murder Club adventure! I've enjoyed all of them so far, and this one didn't disappoint. Trying to speak vaguely and spoiler free, it's fun to watch how the group dynamic changes, as they get pushed out of the comfort zone, and deal with all that comes along with getting older (and also all that comes along with spending your days chasing dangerous criminals). Hope the gang has some more adventures left in them.

Thanks for the ARC Viking Penguin!

In the quiet year since Elizabeth's beloved husband passed away, Joyce has been busy helping to plan her daughter's wedding. When a chance wedding interaction leaves Elizabeth intrigued for the first time in a long time, she follows her curiosity to the Thursday Murder Club's first murder in a year.

The team is back, with all their tangled family and friend glory with Ron's family, Ibrahim's counseling sessions with Connie, Joyce's new son-in-law, and so much more. This was a fun addition to the series and feels like reuniting with old friends.

I was so happy to see that Richard Osman is back with a brand new Thursday Murder Club mystery. This one is just as good as the ones before it, so you will love recommending it to readers who have enjoyed the series. It definitely works as a standalone title, but I think that the reading experience will be a much better one for readers who are familiar with the characters, who continue to grow and develop and charm us all. As this book opens, Joyce's daughter Joanna is getting married, and Elizabeth is just starting to see some better days after Stephen's death. At the wedding, they meet the best man, Nick, who asks Elizabeth's help in investigating a car bomb that someone planted under his car. From there, it's off to the races, as our four detectives are joined by their sidekicks from the younger generation to solve what evolves into a very complex, intriguing crime. A wonderful book for readers new and old.

I love this series! As a retired librarian, I can totally relate to this gang of retirees. The Thursday Murder Club series never fails to amuse and is perfect for a summer read (or any other time if you’re retired!).

Thanks to the publishers and to Netgalley for the ARC.

The Thursday Murder Club is at it again. All the usual charcters and their idiosyncracies. Elizabeth is grieving Stephen, but getting stronger. Joyce's daughter Joanna is getting married-the best man, Nick Silver vomits during his speech and with a clean shirt, seeks help from Elizabeth. He his found a bomb under his car and wants to know who the culprit is. Bitcoins, secret compounds and laughs and exciitement. Can't wait for #6!!

4.5 stars, rounded up! A quick visit with the residence of Cooper's Chase never disappoints. The Thursday Murder Club gang have truly become one of my favorite series whenever I am looking for a comfort read. While Richard Osman's writing style is still not my ultimate favorite (sometimes I feel a character finishes a sentence and the next is speaking and it takes me a quick second to figure out who is narrating the conversation) he has truly built a wonderful cast of characters who all intertwine into a wonderful found family. In the fifth installment, some favorites took a small step back while other characters took more of a lead and it was fun to learn more about them as individuals and watch as they all grow together. Osman has a remarkable way of developing characters that make them memorable, relatable and most importantly lovable. Such a fun series, who doesn't love friends, family mixed with some murder. If you haven't read this series - what are you waiting for?

A big thanks to Richard Osman, Pamela Dorman Books, Viking, Penguin and NetGalley - it was an absolute pleasure to read the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

It's another day in Cooper's Chase, but things have changed since the previous book in the series. Elizabeth is grieving the loss of her husband, Joyce is helping her daughter plan her wedding, and things seem otherwise quiet until Elizabeth meets a wedding guest who needs her help. Ron's dealing with issues of his own when his son-in-law threatens his daughter; throw in a couple of new minor characters and you have another wonderfully twisty, entertaining entry into the Thursday Murder Club series. Recommended for anyone who enjoys a good mystery and detectives of a certain age.

Another great Thursday Murder Club novel! Love this series and the characters. I like seeing deeper into the minds of characters and adding some new characters to the story.

They're back! Still reeling from the death of her husband, Elizabeth has been taking a break from crime solving. With Joyce busy planning (ok, derailing!) her daughter Joanna's wedding, Ibrahim mentoring, and Ron staying under the radar, it has been a slow time for the Thursday Murder Club. That is until Joanna's wedding arrives, and news of a potential murder plot and a missing best man lures them back once more into the fold. Helped by old friends and new allies, the Thursday Murder Club is once more on the case and stronger than ever.

With inside jokes, comradeship, and yes, even some eye-rolls (Ron, I'm looking at you!), returning to this series felt like meeting up with old friends. Each character's storyline is allowed to unfold here, bringing a complexity to the book that far outshines the mystery. Highly recommended, especially to readers of the series.

I am already looking forward to the next book, and can only hope it arrives soon!

Threw everything else out the window and sat down to binge this in 24 hours. It’s hard to beat the brilliance of the previous book, but this one makes a solid follow-up even if it doesn’t surpass it. Still, it's an easy 5 Stars. Everyone is moving forward in touching ways. The emotions, heart, and connections overshadow the mystery, which is more fun and head-scratchy than any great danger or suspense (at least to our core four), but that’s kinda how it should be this time around. I love it, them, all so much. Plus the secondary characters are growing and evolving in lovely and entertaining ways.

Osman continues to deliver the heart and humor amid crime and murder and I can't get enough.

As good as the others, if not better. Imaginative, as per Osman's usual style. Funny and smart. Loved the story line. Loved the evolution of the characters, and the idea behind the plot was perfect. Kindness and humility make their way into the story in just the right places. And the way Elizabeth in particular manages her grief and the others handle the troubles of aging is noble, human and admirable. This book might just be my favorite of Osman's so far. His humor is quick and the dialogue unbeatable. The writing is a delight and the lines are so good I had to read some of them twice. 10 out of 10.

Elizabeth is having a hard time. It's been nearly a year without Stephen. It isn't until an interesting encounter at Joyce's daughter's wedding that she starts to come back to life. Anyone could have guessed that a tricky problem involving kidnapping, car bombs, and vast sums of dubious money would be just the thing to bring her back into the world. All of our friends are here, including some new ones from Ron's family and Connie's protégé. The gang are all here and they are better than ever.

The Thursday Murder Club rides again with The Impossible Fortune, fifth in Richard Osman's popular series. It's inevitable that the octogenarian club members are finally feeling their age. Elizabeth is still grieving for her late husband, Stephen, and Joyce is trying to further define her value to the group. Ibrahim continues to display his skill as a psychotherapist, while Ron struggles to protect his family. As always, the plots and subplots are ingenious and enthralling.

The book opens with the wedding of Joyce's daughter, Joanna, where the best man is clearly in trouble and suddenly disappears. Ibrahim is still counseling veteran criminal Connie, while Connie herself is counseling teenager Tia, herself an ex-con, but is she teaching her the right things? Ron's daughter has finally thrown her abusive husband out of the house, and she and her 9-year-old son Kendrick have been threatened with violence. Slowly and steadily, we discover that there are overlaps that ultimately involve all four in the central plot about the hunt for the codes that unlock the impossible fortune referred to in the book's title. Of course, the savvy seniors will be called upon to save the day and to help each other with their personal issues.

Osman is a masterful writer, not just with the mysteries but even more so with the unforgettable, layered characters we have learned to appreciate and even love. The emotional depth of these characters is what makes the series such a success, and so much of the prose is quotable. Detectives Donna and Chris take a back seat in this story, but other supporting characters such as Ron's son Jason, his precocious grandson Kendrick, Connie and Tia, and Bogdan are memorable and relatable. Osman has kept the quality of this series as high as always, which is great news for those who, like me, can't wait for each new book.

My thanks to Penguin Viking./Pamela Dorman Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

This novel is a captivating read—nearly impossible to put down. True to form, the narrative features clever plot twists and introduces timely themes, including bitcoin, trust, and a fresh take on the concept of “deep storage.” However, what continues to distinguish Osman’s work is his richly drawn characters. The core members of the Thursday Murder Club—Elizabeth, Ibrahim, Joyce, and Ron—return, alongside their reluctant allies in law enforcement and a cast of colorful criminal figures, both familiar and new. Remarkably, even deep into the series, Osman’s characters remain dynamic and full of surprises, avoiding the stagnation that often afflicts recurring casts. The result is a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging read.

I love being reunited with Joyce, Elizabeth, Ibrahim, and Ron, along with their loyal band of cohorts. The mystery had me guessing, the codes had me stumped, and little Kendrick stole my heart.

It’s always good to be back in the world of the Thursday Murder Club. This was a good one. It might be my favorite since the first. These characters have grown up some and it was nice to get a little bit more insight into various family members. This left little time for Donna and Chris, but they were still on the sidelines. Enough to keep readers satisfied. I’m ready for the next installment already!

Thank you NetGalley for a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was so excited to get this book and to be back with the Thursday Murder Club…

Richard Osman did it again. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. I love these characters and their stories. I try so hard to puzzle out the mystery but I am surprised every time. I really enjoyed the new characters we met and new adventures we went on. I laughed… I cried… I had a great time! I wish I could move into Coopers Chase!!

Best one after the 1st book in the series. Same humor and insight into grief, but the mystery/murder was more straightforward and easy to follow!
