This is my favorite ongoing book series to date. It’s almost like catching up with old friends. The plot is compelling but it is the characters that are the real story. Will happily recommend.

The Thursday Murder Club is back! I really enjoyed this one - the mystery held my interest, and I was gripped by the story of Ron's family drama and touched by the way the club members continue to take care of each other through Elizabeth's grief, Ibrahim's loneliness, Joyce's stress around her daughter's wedding. There's just the right amount of comic relief + intrigue + found family feelings for me in this installment. 4.5 stars.

I’ve loved every outing with The Thursday Murder Club, and this is no exception. I love how the group continues to grow and how each new character is a lovely addition, not coming at the expense of the core group.

Charming, full of heart and heartbreak, and just thrilling enough to make me clutch my pearls Richard Osman's utterly unputdownable series continues to totally dazzle me. The Thursday Murder Club are the most loveable octogenarians I've ever met and I dearly wish they were real people. Not that they really needed improving on but this particular story, a hunt for a vast fortune and the people willing to kill to get it, feels just a touch tighter and more fine tuned then the preceding two novels and the new faces that join the narrative are a welcome and well developed addition.

Richard Osman has created a truly unforgettable detective team with this series but he's also shone a beautiful, gentle light on the ephemeral nature of life and just how wonderous that brevity makes it when you surround yourself with the right people.

The Impossible Fortune is book 5 in the Thursday Murder Club series. I am definitely hoping it is not the final book in this series. These mysteries are always favorite books to read and reread. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim are complex personalities, who grow and change with each novel. As is true of the first 4 novels in this series, The Impossible Fortune proves that older people have interesting lives and talents worth sharing. They may be retired, but they have an intellect worth probing. Richard Osman has created an intelligent series about seniors, who are still useful human beings with something to contribute to the world. They are just not seniors growing old in a retirement home. Thank goodness!

A new book in the Thursday Murder Club seres always provides a reason to celebrate. Each of the 4 main characters is well-defined and interesting. As they find ways to solve crimes, mostly murders, each of the 4 characters makes use of a strength that is surprising, even to their children and friends. The puzzles that Osman creates for his characters to solve are complex and require significant effort. Admittedly, solving these mysteries takes effort and is no easy prediction. The intellectual exercise is good for readers, also.

Thank you to Viking and NetGalley for providing this ARC for me to read and review. I love this series and have enjoyed each novel. I as, of course, recommending The Impossible Fortune.

5 stars

When I say lucky, I mean the ✨CHOSEN ONE✨ type of luck… I am forever grateful to NetGalley for allowing me to read The Impossible Fortune by Richard Osman in advance. I screamed as I downloaded it to my kindle.
✨💣
I’ve been talking about this series for a WHILE. The Thursday Murder Club premiers next month on Netflix (August 28th). I’m super excited about it. There’s still time to read TMC before it comes out.

If The Impossible Fortune has taught me anything, it’s how much I care about these characters. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron. Like we know there is going to be a murder… but like what’s going on in their lives? I have to know 🤣
There were some unexpected duos that I truly enjoyed. I won’t say much other than read the first book and don’t miss out on the movie. Because it’s going to be… killer 🔪

Out September 25th.

A new Thursday Murder Club Book is always a cause for celebration. Our gang is back, slightly older, slightly worse for the wear, but no less willing to throw themselves into mystery and danger.

While this doesn’t reach the soaring heights of the perfect book 4, I loved being back in the world. I’ll always recommend these.

The Thursday Murder Club will always be 5* for me.

Watching them grow through each book, coping with the shift in their lives and the world around them, loss of love and health but not of each other.

I know one day our time with them will end, but I hope it’s not anytime soon.

The Thursday Murder Club is back better than ever! Elizabeth is back in the game solving a murder along with her friends. This story dives into the relationship Joyce has with her daughter Joanna and Ron with his daughter, son and adorable grandson Kendrick. Lots of twists and turns along with plenty of humor also. I couldn't stop reading it and got me out of a reading slump.

This is the rare series where the books keep getting better. Thanks for the ARC and to the author, for going back to this particular well.

The gang is back and better than ever. I have waited for this book and could not be more thrilled to be back with the whole group I have come to love in the 4 previous Thursday Murder Club books. The book starts out with Joyce's daughter's wedding and then twists and turns through a murder or two, a botched robbery or two, a visit to a man with a house full of porcelain cats and so much more. The banter between the characters is so much fun and the importance of their relationships continues to be endearing.
I read this book in a weekend and can not wait for the next.

I’m thrilled to have this new installment. These Thursday Murder Club novels bring complex plotting, fabulous characters and humor all together, and the latest is no exception. I loved it, and so glad to see the gang again. Bravo, and can’t wait for the next one!

This is one of my favorite series of all times. I was really eager to read this latest installment before the show comes out on Netflix in August. Unlike a lot of series, Osman's books don't lessen in engagement, entertainment, or interest. Book 5 is just as enthralling as book 1. Like the others, The Impossible Fortune is full of mystery, hilarity, empathy, and the same wonderful characters (minus one - no spoilers, but your heart is going to hurt).

Your favorite retirement community (somewhat) amateur sleuths are back in the 5th book in the Thursday Murder Club series. Joyce is preparing for a wedding. Elizabeth is dealing with the grief of losing her husband. And Ron and Ibrahim are along for the ride. When someone close to Joyce’s new son in law goes missing and the gang find out that there is millions of dollars someone stands to gain with him dead, they do what they do best and solve the case!
I love this series so much so when I saw this book become available on NetGalley, I immediately requested it. I love how this is written. It’s unlike your typical thriller/mystery. Richard Osman does an amazing job at keeping it humorous and lighthearted while also keeping you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next. There isn’t a reoccurring single character in this series that I don’t like. I love reading about them all and getting a snippet into each of their worlds and minds. This book was a great addition to the series!! I think it might be my favorite one so far!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Read this in a single sitting -- impossible to put down. The story has typically good twists and this time delves into bitcoin, trust issues, and a whole new meaning for deep storage, but what I have always liked about Osman's books are his characters. The core Thursday Murder Club members (Elizabeth, Ibrahim, Joyce, and Ron), the somewhat unwilling police "friends," and the various colorful criminal elements have all returned along with some new parts -- and they are all as intriguing as ever. Osman's characters have not run out of depth or surprises as often happens in series. Plenty of fun!

The gang is back and they're as punchy and fun as ever! From the very first page, you're jumping right into the latest Thursday Murder Club adventure and enjoying every clue, every life update, every new saucy character and every moment of true friendship that's offered. Osman has a unique style of writing that brings you right into the pages, allowing you to easily imagine sitting with the characters as they discuss the crimes and their plans to solve the mystery. This is my favorite book in the series (so far) and I cannot wait to tell my library patrons that a new Thursday Murder Club book is dropping soon at the library...time to add everyone to that Holds List!! 📚

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read the free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is another wonderful installment in the Thursday Murder Club series. I wish the characters were real people I could enjoy in life. As usual, the mystery comes at you from two sides and all of our favorite characters are involved - even Connie Johnson.

Another fun read about the Thursday Murder Club with the emphasis on members who haven’t been as much in the forefront. Lots of different characters which I sometimes found confusing however all in all an entertaining read.
