Fantastic little book for middle to high school age students, as well as for adults! Excellent explanations of where to look, and what to look for when one is a beginning bird watcher. Chock full of excellent photography and interesting facts of each bird. Well organized and presented. Would also be a great reference book in school libraries, boys/girl scout troops, or PNW nature centers. I am definitely putting this book on the Christmas lists of my nieces, nephews, and neighbors! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

"Birds of the Pacific Northwest For Kids" by Tom Myers is an excellent introductory field guide for young naturalists. Written by an elementary school teacher with a passion for birds, this guide makes learning fun and accessible for everyone, even those with no prior experience with birding. It encourages kids to be detectives in nature and to feel excited about birdwatching.

The book serves as a great reference guide for any classroom, educator, or family home library. It features over 300 bird species found in the Pacific Northwest region, with 107 detailed profiles for specific birds. Each profile is like a "Pokédex" for birds, including the scientific name, average wingspan, and key field markers like colors and patterns to aid in identification.

The book's design is visually appealing with a simple, organized layout that uses bright colors and clean graphics to make the information easy for young readers to absorb. This design makes it easy to read, scan, and convey information for young learners.

What's really great about this guide is that it goes beyond just identification. I loved learning new scientific facts, especially about each bird's habitat, diet, and unique bird calls. It also highlights the surprising variety of species, like the many different types of gulls, hawks, and owls. This book is a wonderful guide to help spark a young person's curiosity and encourage them to develop a greater love for birds and appreciation of nature.

Thank you to Timber Press, Workman Publishing, Hachette Book Group, NetGalley, and the author, Tom Myers, for an advanced reader copy of this book.

Birds of the Pacific Northwest for Kids would be a great reference book to have in the classroom for Social Studies or Science units focusing on the Northwest Region of the United States and birds. Great information, wonderful photos and especially loved the diagram of all parts of a bird to help encourage knowledge of a birds anatomy.
