This was such a fun nostalgic romance story. I loved all the millennial references and thought the characters had great chemistry. If you are looking for a light fun read with romance thrown in this is the perfect t book for you!

Absolutely loved this book. It's everything I didn't know I needed. I was grinning like a fool from the first chapter, the nostalgia is perfect 👌
It also has my favourite thing in a book... All that beautiful angst and longing! 💖
I cryed at one point, only a little, but a tear definitely fell! But it wasn't long before our MMC made it all better so don't worry!
I will 100% be reading all this authors back catalogue like a stalker 😂

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

OKAY SO. This book eminded me so much of the early 2000s, like watching A Walk to Remember—especially that moment when she puts both feet over the state line (IYKYK 🙊)
The story is sweet and a little sad, with characters that feel real and relatable. Some parts were a bit too perfect, but overall, it was a lovely read. Now I need to go re-watch The OC and One Tree Hill for the millionth time!

Ok first of all this was extremely cute and I had a great time, the 2000's references were out of this world so if you're not into that kind of thing this isn't the book for you. I personally really enjoyed it because it felt like an old school romcom!
Kace and Mya had alot of growing to do individually so this is a sloooowburn! This book is heavy on the grumpy/sunshine trope which I loved, Mya was like sunshine on steroids most of the time and the same could be said for Kace being a grump, I mean he had one friend and that was Dave the homeless guy.
One thing I really loved was that Kace stepped up and went to therapy once he realised what he was doing and I thought that was really beautiful because he wanted things between him and Mya to work out so badly.
Spice wise this is a two out of five 🌶 🌶 It's an extreme slowburn with alot of friendship building but once it popped off it was great, especially the ikea scene 👀🥵 iykyk.

Thank you for accepting my request for my first ever ARC!!
This book was everything to me!! It fed into my nostalgia! I especially loved the 2000s references, it made me feel so seen as a millennial who constantly quotes movies & references the 2000s alot. It made me love the FMC so much more!
The grumpy x sunshine trope had me laughing at times because of how quirky and cute the plot and dialogue read. It felt like a rom-com that I would have most probably put on repeat on my dvd player as a teen!
It was a light, fun & an easy read. Perfect for hopeless romantics & lovers of the early 2000s.

Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
First , I absolutely loved how unapologetically herself Mya was. She was fun and quirky, smart and beautiful (according to was Kace says)
Second, the nostalgia was there. All the references from the 90's/early2000 were spot on.
Kace bothered me a little, but i'm not sure if it's in a good way or bad way. I felt like he was protecting himself of course, but was tearing Mya down at the same time. I'll definitely read again from this author

I was honestly obsessed with this book from start to finish. I've completely fell in love with Kace & Mya. When you start a book and finish it 3 hours later you know it's a good one! Thank you Tisa for reminding me why I fell in love with reading romance books. One of my 5 star reads of this year so far.

I absolutely loved this nostalgic grumpy x sunshine tale. Mya has hidden depths and Kace had hidden fun. The romance was perfectly paced with the burn just slow enough. The pop culture references were cute without being gimmicky, and it left me really craving Mexican food! I would really recommend this book and if Mya wants to go out on a girls night, get in touch! She was so fun, I'd love to have her as a friend.

Oh. My. Nineties-loving heart. 💘
This is easily one of my top reads of the year. It felt like someone cracked open my millennial brain, sprinkled in all the nostalgic gold (TRL, burned CDs, AIM away messages), and wrapped it in a swoony, slow-burn romance.
I connected so deeply with both characters. The FMC? She's clinging to the magic of the late '90s and early 2000s, questioning adulthood, and trying to live authentically in a world that’s constantly moving on. Me. It’s me. 🥲
The MMC? Oh, sweet anxious bean with trust issues—protect him at all costs. His journey felt raw and real, and I loved how layered and relatable he was. 🧠❤️
Wrapped in a perfectly worn hoodie of tropes like roommates to lovers and one bed, this book delivered cozy comfort, emotional depth, and serious butterflies. It’s not just romance—it’s a love letter to a generation that’s still figuring it all out. 💌
Nostalgia-core + big heart = chef’s kiss.

3.5/5 ⭐️ (rounded up)
📖 plot & pace: kace is newly broken up with one valentine's day and decides to spread his.. unhappiness, so he walks into a restaurant and ruins someone else's date.. but this turns out to be the best decision of his life, because he meets mya. she thanks him because she desperately wanted to break things off with her date but didn't know how. kace leaves and expects to never see her again, but he sees her again going into the gym... and notices she's sleeping in her car. thinking this is his fault, he invites her to live with him.. the rest is history ;) the story was paced extremely well! kace and mya fell in love slowly, then all at once. nothing ever felt rushed between these two!
👥 characters: mya was such a spontaneous and honestly perfect character! i loved her outlook on life and love, and i really resonated with a lot of her feelings. i thought kace was.. pretty unbearable until the last 30% of the book. his constant use of the "f" word EVERY two sentences was made me roll my eyes so hard, every time. the side characters were so sweet and perfectly placed, like chloe & dave.
🤩 tropes: grumpy x sunshine, opposites attract, HEA
while i adored the plot of this story, the first half of the book felt like the millennial references were almost forced. during the second half, they seemed to come natural, but the first half seemed like they were just thrown in to be checked off a checklist.
i'd recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a little nostalgia mixed in with a super cute love story!! 💕

This book is a love letter to the '90s and early 2000s. If you're a nostalgic millennial, you'll absolutely love all the nods to the decade you grew up loving.
Mya is a ray of sunshine—she knows who she is and how her brain works best. Kace is a grump with a broken heart. I absolutely adored Mya and her crafty, loving heart.
This story is a slow burn that really pays off. The tension sizzles, there's plenty of angst, and the characters even go to therapy! Absolutely delightful.

Thank you NetGalley and Tisa Matthews for allowing me to read this early!

I absolutely loved this book!!! Mya and Kace are adorable and I loved reading their unconventional love story blossom. This is a slow burn romance but so worth it. I loved all the 2000’s nostalgia it just made my teenage heart so happy. Highly recommended.

Unhitched was so fun! The cover drew me in right away! I absolylobed the millennial feel and vibes. It brought back slit of memories and it was nice to see two people who unfortunately got the short stick in love find love in the most unusual of ways. Highly enjoyed and recommend if your looking for a nice light fun spicy read
