A sweet romance between the poor relation and a man of circumstance. The characters were delightful and I couldn't help but root for them. A fantastic historical romance!

The very young Zoe is out for her first season and is determined to land a duke for a husband by using a love potion on him. Kynthea, her poor relation chaperone, tries to keep her from causing a scandal. The love potion instead works on Kynthea and the duke Raz. Can they find happiness despite their social differences?

Not being a huge fan of this genre, this was another try for me. What a funny syotu. TheDuke and Kynthea were a riot. Talk about putting stuffy ton in their place. They had nice chemistry. Lady Zoey was an overgrown entitled child doing whatever. She walked on my nerves. It was to see the two overcome things. An actually entertaining story.

Kynthea is the perfect example of being a victim of circumstance. She has so little control over anything that happens in her life but that does not make her cynical or stop her from trying to take control where she can. Between her parents dying and leaving her alone, her extended family taking her in as basically a servant, and then her cousin forcing her to play along with the ridiculous love potion plan. And then when things started to go south with her in society's viewpoint her aunt and uncle were more than happy to just cut ties. If ever there was a character who deserved to have things work out for them it is Kynthea. I actually got a little frustrated with her for being so forgiving, but I understand why she did not really have much of a choice. My biggest problem with the story was how quickly Kynthea got on board with the idea of being Ras's mistress. Considering how she behaved and talked throughout the novel it just came as a surprise. And the fact that she was anxious for Ras to announce it to everyone - it just all came a bit out of nowhere. It also might have been nice for Ras to give her more of an indication of what his feelings were and what his plans were for the two of them. A minor complaint was Zoe's plan to continue to go after Ras even when she realized what was happening between him and Kynthea (moving your husband's mistress into your house would have been a terrible idea).

In this historical romance our heroine is the poor relation. She has been lovingly taken into her cousin's household to be a chaperone and companion for her debut season. Unfortunately the trouble starts at the first event.
Our hero is the target of a young lady with lots of ideas, and only sees one way of getting what she wants.
This is a very amusing story with wonderful characters. Everybody means well even when they do something silly. Is there any way they can all be happy? Read it and see.
I loved it.

I believe this is Jade Lee as the first series was a republish of her previous work. And I liked it! To me it wasn’t angsty but I was wondering how it would work out. I like that her cousin and her never let him get between them. I liked their love and friendship a lot. He wasn’t grumpy just had a strong sense of right and wrong which I appreciated. I need to know more about Nate. And I wonder if we will get Zoe in 5 years time with some maturity finding love of her own.
Solid easy to read book.

A cute story that doesn't bog the reader down with too much unnecessary detail. The characters are rather interesting and fun to observe from a distance. Zoe is a bit much yet has a heart of gold if she would be a bit more realistic. Kynyhea is the down and out cousin who needs a bit less realism and a bit more in possible dreams. Then there is Ras who is my favorite! He knows what he wants and isn't going to let anything stop his forward motion getting it.
Well paced and captivating.

Love potion mix up.
Kynthea is a poor relation to Lady Zoe, who is a spoiled 16yo with plans for a purchased love potion. Zoe, has set her cap for a duke with a stable of horses (she’s more interested in the horses than the duke).
But it’s Kynthea that Erasmus or Ras, the duke notices. She’s the poor relation and companion to her much younger and silly cousin. Ras is a practical Duke, a catch and an upstanding guy, more interested in politics than marriage.
I enjoyed this book and will read this author in all her iterations.
Recommend.

The Love Potion begins the My Lady’s Potions series with a delightful romance that captured my attention early on and kept me wanting more until the final page.
Kynthea is, unfortunately, a poor relation who has the task of keeping her cousin, Zoe, in check during her Season. Zoe has single-mindedly set her sights on one man, and it’s actually his horses that she’s in love with. Since Ras has no interest in a horse-mad teenager, she’ll go to great lengths to get her way, including a love potion that goes horribly wrong when Zoe tripped Kynthea and she spilled the potion on Ras. What follows is a delightful romp as Kynthea and Ras navigate the whispers of the ton, find themselves falling in love, and deal with a teenager whose plans have been ruined.
If you love a well-written, emotional, humorous historical romance that will have you swooning and laughing almost at the same time, then The Love Potion by Katherine Lyons is perfect for you. I had such a good time in this world, and I look forward to what comes next in this series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I love a book that pairs unlikely, unequal leads. Mix in a clumsy Cinderella heroine and this story becomes the personification of love conquering all.
Thank you Katherine Lyons, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

I love Zoe's boldness for life. She is irrepressible. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Her cousin, Kynthea, as the poor relation, loves Zoe and wants to see her happy. Kynthea has no idea how the Duke will impact her life. This story is funny. It's sweet. It is filled with great characters and a happily ever after for everyone!

Poor relation Kynthea Petrelli becomes her younger cousin’s companion after the death of her parents. Her job is to keep horse-mad Lady Zoe free of scandal and ensure that she marries well. Unfortunately Zoe has set her sights on a Duke who has little interest in a naive teenage girl and she inveigles Kynthea into helping her fix his interest with the use of a love potion. The contretemps that follows their first meeting leads to a scandal that blackens Kynthea’s reputation and risks her losing her position as companion.

The Love Potion is the first book in the new series My Lady's Potions.
Kynthea Petrelli lost her parents an went to live with her aunt and uncle as a companion for her cousin. Zoe is young and immature, but she is surprisingly focused on her love and knowledge of horses. Zoe's parents are not well, and she fears that their deaths will come soon. Her parents are determined to see her marry well before they pass away. In order to do this, Zoe hears about a love potion and is determined to use it to make the Duke of Harle fall madly in love with her. She drags Kynthea along with her.
Erasmus Oliver Arthur Stace, Duke of Harle known as Ras to his friends. As with all dukes and their overbearing mothers, she has decided it is time for him to marry. She has list and is prepared to introduce him to the debutantes.
decided that she will marry
Lady Zoe has focused on the Duke of Harle because of his horses and stables. Convinced using the love potion will work, her plan goes awry when she trips Kynthea who then splashes the potion in Ras’s face. Ras sees Zoe trip her cousin and forms the opinion she is not suited for him beside being much too young for him. Kynthea tries to reason with Ras as they spend time together, but the gossip begins and Kynthea is the focus. Worried she will have no place to go she comes up with her own plan, but will she get the outcome she plans or will Ras have his own for Kynthea and Zoe.
This was a fun and entertaining romance while comical at times. The characters were well written and enjoyable. I am anxious to see what happens in the next book. That is what a good book should do, make us want to learn more about the characters.

In short, this was an absolute delight. A romance brimming with sweetness, a cousin who cares for her relatives like a sister, mysterious suspense and more are all here. The Love Potion has everything one could want. I will absolutely read more by this talented wordsmith. The Love Potion is escapism at its finest.

The Love Potion is a cute regency romantic comedy that showcased the desperation of women trying to get married in Regency England. The FMC is a poor family relation chaperoning her much younger cousin's society debut, and she happens to fall - literally! - for her cousin's intended matrimonial target. The MMC, a duke, can't help but to be intrigued when Kynthea confesses her cousin resorted to a love potion to catch Ras's interest, and he ought to make the botched attempt up to her before he ruins her debut Season.
Things I enjoyed about this book were the dialog, romantic pacing, and the characters themselves. Kynthea is an interesting young woman: earnest, realistic, and capable, but also surprisingly quick to adapt. Ras is the literal perfect duke, and young Zoe is horse-mad and highly energetic with a big heart once she slows down enough to process things. The plotting was quite well paced, skipping over the parties and societal obligations that would otherwise slow down the romantic plot, while still hitting all the Regency highlights including several balls, tea visits, shopping, riding in Hyde Park and even being presented at Court. A bonus, particularly with my interest in this time period, was learning several new phrases and bits of general knowledge.
Here is a favorite quote to end my review: "'You overwhelm me, she returned. 'And I have never been so happy to drown!"

The love potion would have solved a lot of problems, if it worked. The hero and heroine are not typical ton, which makes them a perfect pair but society’s expectations and social gaps make for the fly in the ointment. I also like the love and support between the cousins although one is from young and narrow perspective. I enjoyed this book very much.
I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily.

Such a delightful read.
Kynthea is a poor companion to her sixteen year old cousin Zoe.
Zoe is determined to win the most eligible Duke by obtaining a love potion.
Unfortunately Kynthea spills the potion on Ras the Duke.
The fun begins with exciting banter, newspaper gossip, and private moments.
Zoe falls in love with Ras but is there really any chance for their HEA?

Miss Kynthea Petrelli went to live with her aunt and uncle when her parents passed leaving her penniless. She was hired as the companion for her younger cousin Lady Zoe.
Erasmus Oliver Arthur Stace, Duke of Harle is known as Ras to his friends. His mother has decided it is time for him to marry so she is introducing him to this year’s debutantes.
Lady Zoe has decided that she will marry the Duke of Harle because she is in love with his horses and stables. She is convinced that by using the love potion that she purchased he will fall in love with her. Problems begin when she trips Kynthea who then splashes the potion in Ras’s face. As Kynthea and Ras spend time together he begins to think that Kynthea is the one for him. Can Ras convince everyone that Kynthea would be his perfect Duchess and not Lady Zoe?
I thought this book was entertaining and fun. Both Kynthea and Ras’s characters were likable and I thought they were perfect for each other. The secondary characters really added to the entertainment of the book. I would recommend this book.

It's a cute book where a poor relation finds a happy ending with a Duke. Ras was a pretty cool Duke. His banter with Kynthea was engaging, witty, and sly. His friendship with Nick and the fact that he bends over backward to get what he wants with Kynthea was sweet as well. I liked Zoe. She's spirited, probably just like one of her fillies, and loves her companion.
Overall, this book was a solid B
