I have to say that I was initially put off by the word "skinny" because really, that's not what life is all about and it shouldn't be. But, the book itself has some good tips about how to become fit--not just physically but mentally and spiritually as well. I liked the book, but didn't really love it. I feel like her message could have been conveyed better if she would have left all of the "skinny"references out. I know she means it other than a body shape, but instead of saying "the skinny on life" it implies that life is best lived while thin.

The best motivational book about the fitness I have ever read. And the only one working for me so far.
I don´t know about the others, but the key to my motivation is in my mind. I need to decide - based on the right reason/s. And this book works exactly the way I need. When I have started to read it, I was in the clash of desires - my wish to gain my figure back and my displeasure about the need to exercise. I am not lazy, but I just don´t feel the need to move - I am a reader, not a mover. While I realize all the benefits of exercising, I simply don´t enjoy it.
This book gave me new reasoning - to respect and prioritize myself and my healthy, precious body. Not in the selfish way! In the way of take the best care of this gift of body from God. So I have told myself "I am going to give you the quality things" and I have returned to my tabata classes (highly effective, but the first 3-5 lessons are killers) and I am still rolling.

This book is simply good in motivation. And I am not saying that lightly. There are good tips on food, exercise and healthy supplements, but the gro is about motivation, about having healthy self love and respect towards yourself, to gain control over your decisions aiming to your health. I think that this is the logic behind the book - if you decide to be good to yourself, you will find the information here or there, but the strength lies in motivation and decision.

I could do with less affirmations (I am just not wired that way) - but the authoress is so warm in her writing style, that I even don´t mind that much :) And the overall message is very worthy.

Recommended read.
