My biggest critique is that the last 50 pages felt jam-packed with major events, and some of the side plots didn’t add much to the main story. Still, it was well written and worth the read if you’re into faith-based fiction with a bit of end-times suspense. This was a pretty quick and interesting read. It feels like a standalone and not the start of a series, which was kind of refreshing. If you’ve read the Left Behind series, this has a similar vibe.

We can live good lives, help people, and mean well … and still be completely unprepared for the moment Jesus returns. That’s the hard truth Vanished forces us to face … with reverent fear of God Almighty and with urgency.
Vanished doesn’t coddle or comfort. It convicts. It compels. And it clings to the promises of Scripture with a clarity that shook me to my core.
Through an unsettling mix of personal heartbreak, global turmoil, and prophetic signs, this story captures the spiritual tension of our moment with chilling accuracy. We’re watching the world unravel. We’re watching prophecy unfold. And the question pulsing through every page is painfully clear: Are we truly ready?
John “Haggs” Haggerty is a man trying to hold it all together — his job, his daughter, his regrets. He’s trying to be good enough. But the chaos around him exposes what so many of us quietly believe: that being good is enough. It’s not.
We need more than morality, effort, decency, or intention. We need a Savior. Vanished makes that point with gripping urgency.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Roger Wayne, and it was phenomenal. The tone, the pacing, the depth of emotion … all of it helped carry the weight of what’s at stake. The characters felt real. The tension felt real. And the longing for redemption? It settled right into my soul.
If Left Behind gripped your heart, Vanished might grip your imagination. It’s a different kind of story — edgier, grittier — but the message rings clear: now is the time to surrender fully to Jesus.
Because when the Rapture comes, “almost” and “good enough” won’t matter. Only our surrender to … and moment-by-moment walk with … Jesus will.
And if you’re not sure what you believe about the Rapture … if you’re uncertain, skeptical, or if your theology or interpretation of Scripture differs … let’s ask ourselves: What would it hurt to live as if it’s true?
To live ready. To live surrendered. To live as if Jesus could return today.
This is one of those stories that everyone should read or hear … no matter your background, doubts, or beliefs. Let it stir something. Let it send you to the Word. Let it push you toward Jesus who already chose the cross for you.
Vanished is a bold, Bible-anchored response to the questions so many are asking … delivered with the clarity of Scripture and the storytelling strength to keep you listening.

Apocalyptic Chaos Meets Personal Redemption in This Gripping Faith-Fueled Thriller
I’ve been watching and waiting for Christ’s second coming, so this was a timely read. Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah is a high-stakes, end-times thriller that hits on both a global and personal level. John “Haggs” Haggerty leads a military unit tasked with stopping pandemics before they spread—but as disasters pile up, it’s clear the world is heading toward something far more cataclysmic. Plagues, earthquakes, wars… the signs are everywhere.
But Haggs’s real battle is closer to home. He’s grieving the collapse of his marriage and struggling to stay connected to his adult daughter. The emotional weight he carries makes his fight for redemption feel real and relatable. Jeremiah blends action with heart, and the spiritual thread running through the story gives it depth without slowing the pace.
If you’re a fan of Left Behind but crave a fresher voice and tighter pacing, Vanished is your next read. This book is a reminder that prophecy isn’t just about world events—it’s also about the state of our hearts. Fast, thoughtful, and faith-anchored, it’s a must-read for anyone drawn to stories about the end times and the hope that remains. The audiobook is well-narrated by Roger Wayne.
** Thanks to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Zondervan Fiction Audio for complimentary review copies. Opinions are my own.

A compelling and clear explanation of end-times prophecy through a gripping fictional lens. The audiobook brings urgency and insight to biblical truths, making complex topics accessible and engaging. Dr. Jeremiah delivers both suspense and spiritual depth — a must-listen for fans of faith-based fiction with a prophetic edge. He always gets 5 stars from me. I can not find a single complaint about any of his amazing books

I grew up reading a book series on the Rapture and the end times. When I cam across vanished by Dr David Jeremiah and Sam O'Neal I just had to read it. It really didn't disappoint. Some similarities to the other series Ive read but it was different overall and was very enjoyable. I enjoyed that the book started way before the Rapture talking about the build up of events that lead up to the Vanishing. I really liked getting to know the characters before the crisis happened to the World.
The audio book was listened to at speed 1.5

I appreciated that this book was clean.
However, I had a hard time getting into the book. Felt too much like a documentary on C**** /pandemic times.
Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for the ARC read. All opinions are my own.

An exciting and engrossing story prior to the end times. I loved the characters, plot and faith content. The pacing was perfect and rapid. I’m looking forward to more in this series outstanding narration.. Highly recommend.

This is the end of the world type story. With pandemics, wars and such. It follows John Haggerty is a military leader of a special unit. He has had a rough life and we get to learn all about his back story. One of those things, being divorced and disconnect with his adult daughter. In the first part of the book he reconnects with his daughter by bringing her along on one of his assignments. I thought the writing was well done and flowed nicely. I was a little confused when the “Vanished” part was going to happen, (spoiler alert) as it doesn’t happen til almost the end. If you know anything about the Left Behind books it’s similar to those. The story ends on a cliffhanger, so I assume there will be more. I do wish the rapture would have happened a little sooner in the story, but I still really enjoyed it. Good Christian content. Also listened to the audio which was great. Overall, I enjoyed this story and I recommend!

Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah with Sam O'Neal
4 Stars
This is one book I found very interesting as it is SO timely for our world today and preparing our hearts for the end times of our world. I have several of Dr. David Jeremiah's non-fiction on my to-read list and this book really prepared my own heart to dive into those sooner rather than later.
This follows John "Haggs" Haggerty who is a leader of a special military unit that is very involved with stopping potential pandemics before they spread and he essentially has a front row seat to the increase is the "birth pains" leading to the Rapture, such as the plagues, earthquakes, famines, wars etc. Everything is becoming more intense and his own personal life is a mess as it is. He's trying to patch things up with his daughter and still struggles from the grief of his relationship with his ex-wife.
Right when things seem to be looking up.......we see major changes and events take place, getting closer to the Rapture.
I really appreciate this story being a quick reminder for everyone to be READY for the end times. Be prepared. We have no fear because we know where we are going - there is true hope in Jesus Christ no matter what happens before He comes back for His children.
The ending left me needing to know what happens next so I hope to see this as a series!
I would recommend this for anyone who loves suspenseful Christian fiction surrounding end times, and biblical prophecy. Perfect for fans of the Left Behind series as well.
Thank you to the author and publisher for sending me a copy to honestly read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
