Thank you to Donna Grant and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am familiar with Donna Grant's Dragon King series, but I haven't read that last several books, so I was worried that jumping back into the world would feel jarring, but it was very easy to follow the story with its fast-moving plot without getting lost or having to go back and read the books I missed. Reading Dragon Forged was nostalgic and reminded me of why I originally fell in love with this series. Despite how many books there are in this series, Donna Grant still has such a way of bringing the magic of the world to life and giving each character their own stories. I really enjoyed this latest installment and its characters, and I look forward to catching up with the books I missed as well as future books.

Are you new here? If you are, please go back at least to book 1 of this series, but maybe all the way to the start of this universe (or set of universes?). This world is rich, filled with lots and lots of characters and baggage we have collected along the way, and you appreciate it so much more when you’ve been along for the ride as long as I have.

Somehow, we are still finding new places on this world, and that includes some secret island now. Hector gets sucked onto it when he breaks the cardinal rule - he touches the flashing thing. Emilia, who has had a vision of his arrival (and the ramifications) tries to get him off the island, but he is a stubborn dragon. This island, though, appears to worship dragons so when he returns and accidentally binds him to the island, they seem to have won a victory of sorts. It all gets worse from there. You can’t really expect to control a dragon and not have things go horribly wrong.

There’s a lot of betrayal baked in here, but what I really enjoyed was the love story here including the introduction of a pseudo-son character. Each of these dragon king books is so unique that I could keep reading oodles and not get bored. This one in particular sets up some good future ones - and as long as we have unmated kings, we have to keep going, right?

Disclaimer: Dragon Forged is the 10th book in its series, and I went in without reading any of the previous books. While I was able to follow the overall story and enjoy the plot, I’m sure I missed some deeper world-building and character nuances that longtime readers would appreciate more.

That said, I ejoyed this read. The concept of dragon shifters and magical beings was a first for me. It was a bit of a slow start as I got used to the characters and the world, but by the 60% mark, it picked up a bit and became a page-turner. The plot twists added some great momentum and intrigue.

I loved the use of multiple POVs—it added depth and kept things interesting. One area I wished for more was the romantic tension between Emelia and Hector. A little more yearning or emotional build-up would’ve made their connection feel stronger. The spice scenes also fell a bit flat for me.

Overall, it was an entertaining read, and I’d definitely consider going back to read the earlier books in the series to get the full experience.

I really really enjoyed this book! The characters were very interesting and I loved the journey that the author took them on. Sometimes I can get bored if the plot is to slow but the author did a great job with the pacing and keeping it interesting. I was able to finish this book in one sitting because I could not put it down! I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.

ARC REVIEW!

I wanted to love this book, it has so many elements that I love, dragons, action, and adventure, fantasy, and it just fell flat for me.

The index in the beginning of the book really stressed me out because it made me feel like I was jumping in in the middle of a series when, in fact I wasn’t. But it was very confusing to see all of these different characters from different books that I knew nothing about

I found the writing style hard to follow and the plot very slow moving. I also found the book very difficult to get into. I feel like this book is more geared towards high fantasy fans and less Romantasy.

I’m super appreciative to the author and net Galey for allowing me to review this title

🔥🔥🔥 A Scorching Tale of Forbidden Desire and Unstoppable Destiny

Dragon Forged is a masterful blend of passion, power, and prophecy that had me hooked from the first page. Donna Grant delivers a story that is as intense as it is captivating, weaving a narrative filled with danger, desire, and destiny.

🔥 Characters That Ignite the Page

Emilia, a seer burdened with the knowledge of a looming war, is a character of depth and resilience. Her journey is one of self-discovery and sacrifice, and her connection with Hector is electric. Hector, with his raw strength and unwavering loyalty, is the perfect counterpart to Emilia. Their chemistry is palpable, and their slow-burn romance is both heart-wrenching and exhilarating.

🔥 World-Building That Envelops You

Grant's world-building is nothing short of spectacular. The realm she has created is rich with history, magic, and intrigue. The stakes are high, and the tension is ever-present. Every page is infused with a sense of urgency and anticipation, making it impossible to put the book down.

🔥 A Plot That Keeps You Guessing

The twists and turns in the storyline kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had it figured out, Grant threw in a curveball that left me reeling. The pacing is perfect, with each chapter building upon the last, leading to a climax that is both satisfying and thought-provoking.

🔥Romance That Burns Bright
The romance in Dragon Forged is slow-burning but incredibly intense. The push-pull dynamic, moments of vulnerability, and sizzling passion between Emilia and Hector kept me completely invested. The emotional depth of their relationship — how they support, challenge, and heal each other — elevated this beyond a typical paranormal romance. Their love feels hard-won and real.

Dragon Forged is an exceptional read that combines all the elements I crave in paranormal romance and fantasy: compelling characters, an imaginative world, a gripping plot, and a love story that takes your breath away. Donna Grant has crafted a tale that stays with you long after you finish, making me eager to dive into the rest of the series.

If you love dragons, magic, and romances that scorch the pages with passion and heart, this book is absolutely for you!

This cover! Besides the awesome dragon, it’s green. My favorite color. 💚🐉

I went into this book completely blind. I saw ‘dragon kings’ in the blurb on NetGalley and I was like “yes, please!” This is the first book I have read by Donna Grant. Each book in the Dragon King series is interconnected yet can be read as a standalone and each book follows a different Dragon King.

This story follows Hector, King of Sea Greens, and Emilia, a powerful Seer. This book is brimming with tension, deep bonds, and hard choices. There is a great balance between romance and intriguing plot. The found family trope is beautifully portrayed with characters like Theo and Rhi becoming as important to the reader as the main characters. This element adds depth and emotional resonance to the story, making it even more compelling.

I went into Dragon Forged by Donna Grant completely blind. I read the book description and was hooked. I was unaware this was book 10 in the Dragon King series until I was about 20% into the book. I felt a little confused when it came to the story history and politics. I do feel it had some world building but may have been better if I read the previous books. Dragon forge follows the storyline of Hector and Emilia who is a seer. I liked the forced proximity and friends to lovers trope. I would recommend this book if you are into fantasy, romance, and a little bit of politics mixed in.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity ti read the ARC. The Dragon Forged was amazing! This is a first time reading this Author and will not be the last. This story is about a seer named Emilia and Dragon King of the sea green dragons Hector. This story had me guessing until the end. I loved that it had romance and a story behind it. I would definitely recommend to read in order. Dropping in at the 10th book was a lil difficult to follow. But that’s on me.and not the author. 5 out of 5

Wow, there were so many twists and turns and secrets revealed that kept this book so hard to put down! Just when you think you know what is going on, surprise - there is a new twist and what you thought is not right!

Emilia, a seer, is trying to save their world from destruction and it all involves one of the dragon kings. So, when Hector appears on Emilia's island, she is quick to divert him to save everyone. At least her vision of the future shows the world in flames with dragons leading into the battle.

Hector is not one to be turned away so he goes back to the island and finds that Emilia had a good reason to keep any dragon kings away. So, their story starts with how to save not only Hector, the island, but the world.

It is so good and filled with drama, intrigue, betrayal, and grown romance between Emilia and Hector.

Sorry, no spoilers! Love this series of books about the Dragon Kings and the battle continues.

Donna Grant definitely has a knack for writing such a tremendous, lush world full of supernatural wonder and magic. Not to mention the characters, who progressively get better and better the further the story moves along. Every time I think I can't fall more in love with a character, the author proves me wrong. They are relatable and raw and not afraid to speak their minds when in the face of danger. Especially the heroines. Let's not forget the romance as well, which will have you swooning and kicking your feet up in the air across every page. I cannot recommend this author enough for those of you who are fans of fantasy romances that are equally nostalgic and stand on their own.

Hector didn’t expect to find his mate when exploring the ruins. He didn’t expect to be held prisoner either. He needs to get free so that he can save Emilia & the young boy Teo.
Emilia knew that she had to make sure that the dragon king never came to her home as he would only bring death & devastation but now that he is here she has to find a way to get him off the island. But it is too late as they have been caught & Emilia fears that it is too late. Hector knows that he meds to find a way to free them all but how?
Will they be able to break free & be able to start a life together as their time together has strengthen their bond?
Another great read in the series. Excellent characters.
Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.

Donna Grant has done it again. Dragon Forged starts with a bang. It brings us the story of Emilia and Hector, a seer and a dragon king. It was engaging with an early twist that drew me in. As the book continued, the surprises kept coming, and I was there for it to the end. It got better and better with an unexpected twist to conclude what I consider an engaging read.

The story is not only a continuation of the Dragon King Series, but the storyline is so different that it stands out from the rest. I love it.

As with all the books I have read in this series, there were just enough unanswered questions to make me want to reach for the next. However, this did not end with a cliffhanger. It can be read as a standalone book.

This is a slow burn romantic fantasy. I enjoyed the main characters, the build up to their relationship and the story overall. I was a bit disappointed by the villains story line. I think it could’ve been a bit more immersive and fleshed out. Felt rushed I suppose. Other than that it was a solid read.

Dragon Forged is book 10 in the series. Each book is about different characters and there story. You dont need to read them in order but should.

A Surprisingly Addictive Read — Now I Need the Whole Series!

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, but it completely drew me in. From the very first chapters, I found myself quickly and deeply invested in the characters and their storylines. The writing is engaging and the pacing is spot-on.

What I didn’t realize when I picked this one up is that this is actually the tenth book in a series. But to the author's credit, I never felt lost or out of place. The world and characters are so well-developed that I was able to jump right in and still feel connected. Now that I know there are nine previous books, I’m excited to go back and read the earlier installments.

There’s also a new book in the series coming out soon, and I’m can't wait to continue following these characters. If you're a fan of character-driven fiction with heart, depth, and just the right amount of drama or intrigue (depending on the genre), I highly recommend giving this one a try — even if you're new to the series like I was.

This is a thrilling, emotional ride that blends magic, romance, and suspense perfectly. I was instantly drawn into Hector and Emilia’s story. He’s a mighty Dragon King, and she’s a seer trying to prevent a vision of war. Their chemistry is intense, but what hooked me was the emotional depth and high stakes. I loved how Emilia grows into a strong, fearless leader, and Hector’s protectiveness is both fierce and touching. The world of Zora is vivid and full of mystery, especially the intriguing land of Highvale. Side characters like Teo added extra charm. Donna Grant’s storytelling is addictive. I couldn’t put it down. If you love dragon shifters and high-stakes fantasy, this book is a must-read.
