The characters are engaging, and the plot moves along at a nice pace, making it an enjoyable seasonal read. It has all the charm you’d expect from a Christmas romance and captures the spirit of love and hope.

The Christmas Ring, by Karen Kingsbury, is a short well written story that is easy to read and enjoy. This story focuses on Vanessa, a young military widow, who lost a family heirloom ring while skiing with her daughter. In the process of searching for the ring, she meets Ben and they quickly become friends.

This is a nice story that can easily be read in an evening. I enjoyed the mystery behind what happened to the ring. This story also shows the great bond between Vanessa and her daughter. I like how her daughter gives thought to Vanessa when she is thinking of moving forward with another man in her life. I appreciate how they characters are quick to turn to prayer when Vanessa’s daughter is worried about her boyfriend’s safety. The subject of prayer is evident in this story, and the characters are good, strong, caring people with faith.

A short and sweet holiday novel featuring military families, antiques, and a small town feel.

This book has some amazing aspects. It has heartfelt moments, strong faith themes, and a well-paced story. Vanessa’s involvement with Columbus Cares, her close relationship with her daughter, and her tight-knit friend group, as well as Ben’s relationship with his dad and uncle were highlights of “The Christmas Ring” for me, other than the plot points regarding the ring itself. The novel feels like a Hallmark movie (in a good way) and there is a movie adaptation coming out this winter, which is exciting. Even though this is a mostly low-stakes sweet romance, there is still enough plot/tension to keep the story moving and ensure that readers remain engaged with the book.

When Ben was first introduced, he gave me weird vibes, but I grew to like him after a couple of chapters. I think it was a me problem rather than a writing problem, and at the end he really does seem like a great guy. I’m looking forward to watching the movie and seeing who portrays Ben and Vanessa as well as the other characters.

I really enjoyed all of the mentions of faith in this book. Vanessa and Sadie, in particular, quote Bible verses and talk about God numerous times throughout the novel. I liked seeing how their lives are very much rooted in faith. If you enjoy Christian romances, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try!

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC!

I am so excited to tell you about The Christmas Ring. Karen Kingsbury inspired me to be a writer and I have loved her books for twenty years. And it’s going to be a movie too-how cool is that?

The story centers around Vanessa Mayfield, a military widow who loses an heirloom family ring. As she hunts for the missing piece of jewelry, Vanessa meets antique dealer Ben Miller and a friendship quickly grows. As Vanessa closes in on the possibility of a miracle rediscovery of her ring, the friendship turns to more but Vanessa’s daughter isn’t keen.

As ever with a Karen Kingsbury novel, there’s lots of emotion and sentiment, but they’re deftly handled. The complex family dynamics for both Vanessa with her daughter, and Ben with his business partner-father. And of course, a strong faith element weaves everything together. Even though you know everything will work out, I was still frantically turning pages to get to the part where it all came together. This is the hallmark of a good book.

I received a copy of The Christmas Ring from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions are all mine.

If you like Hallmark Christmas movies filled with faith, then you’ll love The Christmas Ring! It’s short, sweet, and guaranteed to warm up your holiday season.

While searching for a lost ring that’s been in her family for decades, a young widowed mother finds an unexpected attraction to a widowed antique dealer. When the information he finds out about the ring threatens a shared future, faith and family help bring them back together.

This fast-paced book’s setting is split between Columbus, OH, and a quaint small town an hour north of Atlanta where Vanessa’s daughter, Sadie, is attending college. I enjoyed Ben’s kind and funny disposition. Vanessa’s friendship with Leigh and Maria was entertaining to follow and showed realistic dynamics between a trio of friends: one who speaks their mind freely, one who’s gentle and sweet, and one who’s a go-getter.

A quote (and sweet reminder for life) I enjoyed: “God knows where it is. He’ll bring it back to me in His timing. If that’s His will.”

They are releasing the movie soon after the book’s release, and I enjoyed knowing the cast without picturing the movie while reading. That’s a rare treat these days! I’m looking forward to the movie coming out this fall.

Tropes you’ll find in this story: Holiday Romance, Military Families, Second Chance at Love, Young Widow/Widower Romance, and Single Parent.

I requested this ARC as a summer read for a Netgalley badge but whilst I did finish the novella quickly for various reasons I didn’t post the review on time.

This is a lovely Christmas that is beautifully paced and filled of faith and redemption.

The spiritual aspect is not something I would usually seek in a novel but it added a lovely dimension to the romance, and to the plot that for one.

Looking forward to watching the film over Christmas with a mug of hot chocolate and a log fire; and perhaps next year reading about the rings journey from the a beach in France to Vanessa’s possession.

The Christmas Ring was such a sweet and heartwarming read! While a little predictable at times, I found myself drawn in by the faith woven throughout the story, it’s always one of my favorite parts of Karen Kingsbury’s books. The premise of the ring itself was touching and gave the story a meaningful depth. The love story was also very sweet, adding a tender layer to the holiday charm. I really enjoyed the cast of characters; they were all so likable and easy to root for, and the small-town setting added the perfect cozy, Christmassy backdrop. The ending tied everything together beautifully and left me with that warm, feel-good holiday glow. A lovely story for anyone looking for a faith-filled Christmas read.

3.5 Stars!

Vanessa has treasured a family ring passed down since World War II—until it's lost during a ski trip with her daughter. Years later, with her daughter off to college and the house feeling emptier than ever, Vanessa is adjusting to a new chapter of life. Then, a new friend enters the picture… and unexpected discoveries begin to unfold.

This heartwarming story truly put me in the Christmas spirit. It's a sweet, faith-based read that reminds us of the power of connection, tradition, and hope. If you're looking for a quick and uplifting Christmas story, I highly recommend it!

The Christmas Ring is a warm story about the power of strength, love, faith and hope. Karen Kingsbury weaves the story of a military family who has endured a loss but found a way to still bring hope to a community and show that faith isn't always instance but everything in its rightful season. I loved how she applied scripture but made it light enough to wear it didn't give overly religious.
The fact that its turning into a movie will be a good way to start off the holiday season,

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury was my first Christmas book of the year! I have to admit that I am a softie for any Christmas story and if it contains a love story that is even better! I even love Christmas movies. This book gives us a double whammy because it has been made into a movie. How fun is that?

This story is about an old family heirloom ring that was lost and may never be found again. Vanessa is a military widow and her daughter has just started college. After she moves her daughter in the dorm and is on her way home again, she makes a detour to get gas. She sees an interesting antique store and decides to take a look and see if by chance she can find her ring. She meets Ben and the rest is history. I can’t tell you anymore about the ring. The search is a huge part of the story.

I can tell you that if you like Karen Kingsbury, you will most likely fall in love with her latest novel. I haven’t read too much of her work but I found the story and all that happens intriguing. I love the search. I love antique stores and wonder about the backstory of the items I see there.

I truly enjoyed The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury and if you are like me and like anything Christmas, then this book is for you. It is going to deserve a spot on your nightstand for the upcoming holidays! Until next time…Happy Reading!

A beautiful and heartwarming story that captures the true spirit of Christmas. Karen Kingsbury weaves love, faith, and hope together in a way that feels both timeless and touching. The characters felt real, the message was uplifting, and it left me with that cozy, grateful feeling you want from a holiday read.

This is a cute story that takes place over a few months. It involves a lost ring and a couple of romantic relationships. There are several misunderstandings that are quickly resolved without a lot of drama. It has a lot of religion and prayer throughout the story. This doesn't bother me, but I know it can bother, annoy other people.

Karen Kingsbury is an author I will read over and over again. She isn’t repetitive or boring. Her characters are flawed and relatable. That brings me to the Christmas Ring.

Vanessa lost her husband four years earlier and lost her family heirloom ring shortly afterwards. Her daughter is leaving for college, and she finds the possibility of love again, with a man named Ben who lost his wife years ago.

This author has a way with words that always sucks me in. She wrote this book with three main points of view: Vanessa, Ben, and her daughter Sadie. Each point of view is unique to the person. For instance Sadie definitely reads like a young adult. It was nice to see.

So many Christian fiction books don’t actually mention God or the Bible. This book is different. And I love every single part of it. This book is about a woman whose faith in God overshadowed every single issue in her life. No problem was too big or small for prayer. And Bible verses gave comfort. That’s the kind of Christian fiction book I absolutely love. I will buy this book and ask my daughters if they want to read it as they get older. Because it’s sweet and in ways educational. We all find ourselves going through trials, and there’s a healthy way to handle those trials.

I thought Sadie wanted to be a doctor like her father. But somewhere in the second third of the book they changed it to teacher. I’m not sure how the final publication will play out, but it confused me.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest opinion.
