I loved each and every book by Nicole Trope I have read.
So far.
This might be my least favorite of hers that I have read.
I will still be keeping an eye on her next books, and I will be reading those. Hopefully, this one just somehow wasn’t my perfect reading match.
But, despite this little blip on the road, I can still see this book being loved and enjoyed by those who love easy and fast-paced popcorn thrillers. Because this book was it. It was easy to read, it was fast-paced, and it was entertaining.
Why wasn’t I smitten this time? Honestly, I don’t know. The main character felt shallow and superficially written. The other characters felt flat-ish. Yet the story was good. The plot was there. The twists were there. But something was lacking. I guess it was the lack of the story being at least somewhat character-driven – there was none of that, and I guess that is what I really love about other books by Nicole Trope.

This was a new-to-me author and a quick thriller. I finished it in one sitting. The story was slightly predictable at times, but I stayed engaged throughout. Lana gets emotionally involved with a patient claiming abuse by her husband and finds herself crossing lines she typically would not to ensure the woman’s safety. The book is told from multiple points of view, which keeps the story moving. Overall, a solid 3-star read that I enjoyed, even if it didn’t surprise me.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Nicole Trope for the ARC.

I LOVED this book and I’m a pro at guessing the twists- even I couldn’t get all of these! Would recommend.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book, and it instantly had me hooked. I had no idea what on earth was going on so had to keep reading, I was pulled by both parties stories and had no idea who to believe!
The ending was a little flat although I wasn't left with lots of questions, it just didn't feel as put together as the rest of the story.
Overall a really thrilling book, with writing that reminded me of Freida McFadden

I loved the psychological elements of this book. It was a page turner and there were many enjoyable twists as well as things not appearing as they seem. Great book. Thank you, NetGalley.

I truly wanted to like this story as it seemed super interesting.
However, I have to say that regardless of it being a short book I really had to push myself to read it all the way. I felt like the plot was overly simplified which made the "twist" slightly predictable which made me loose the element of suprise and suspence.
I do think that this book had a promising premises and I liked having not one but three unreliable narrators! The writing was also nice and easy to follow. I think my main issue is just with there not being enough suspens or element of suprise in this book. And to be fair I wasn't a huge fan of the characters.
I still think others might enjoy this book! It just perhaps wasn't my cup of tea.
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an ARC. All thoughts are my own.

“Everyone thinks they can trust their therapist. We are good listeners. But what if we’re good liars, too?”
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)
I love my job. People tell me their worries, their fears. Then Sandy becomes my patient. Something about her tears as she cries about her husband doesn’t feel right. But I tell her she can trust me. I promise to keep her secrets… for now.
Someone is missing. Someone is in danger. Someone is a liar. Who will you believe?
The premise of this story was very interesting, who is telling the truth? The book is told in 3 POVs, Lana the Therapist, Sandy the patient, and Mike, Sandy’s husband. Between the three you’re consistently wondering who is lying and who is telling the truth, and what else is actually going on.
Overall, it was an easy, quick read as I needed to find out the ending! The “twist” wasn’t as shocking as I thought and there are clues among the way if you’re paying attention. I would say it’s a good popcorn thriller if you need something quick to read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ecopy in exchange for my honest review.

This book will keep you guessing and not knowing what’s going to happen a next. If you love suspense, twists, and moral ambiguity, prepare to be hooked. Just don’t be surprised if you stay up all night trying to figure it out and maybe still get blindsided. This was a good read definitely recommend.

I really did not enjoy this - tbh I couldn’t get far into it without stopping. It was just odd and boring

I really enjoyed this book, it kept me gripped all through. Most of the characters were not very likeable though and I did guess what a few of the characters were up to. A good and surprising ending. Another very good book by Nicole Trope.

This was my first time reading a book from this author., and I really enjoyed it! Although I figured out the final twist beforehand, the book was very enjoyable with great character development. Well done!

A quick, easy read with unsettling twists that kept me hooked. I simply didn’t know who to believe. Is the therapist’s patient, Sandy, a con artist – or is she really in grave danger? And if Sandy is possibly dodgy, what about Lana, the therapist? As a child she was actively disliked and remains scarred by her early years. I could not warm to almost all the characters in this story, from the therapist to her receptionist to her partner to her patient. But they made for a good story!

Unfortunately, I'm choosing to DNF this book 15%. I thought it had great potential at the beginning, but the plot just became cringy and just couldn't continue on. It may be a good book for someone else, but it just didn't do it for me!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in return for an honest review!

A fun and unique thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire ride. This was one where I really didn’t know what was going to happen next!

Nicely done! a big web of lies and secrets and conning and everything in between! Don't fret too much over the synopsis; go in blind and let Nicole tell you the story. Every character is a suspect; everyone plays a role in the bigger picture. Many thanks to the author and Netgalley for the opportunity to read the book for an honest review. I ended up picking up the Audible audiobook as well, so I could listen to it on my commute, then continue to read it at night.

Holy twists! I’ve read everything Nicole has written and just when you think she can’t top her last book, BOOM!! Books about therapists are a favorite of mine and yes, it’s been done before, but not like this! I literally ignored everything and everyone while reading this. I was worried I was going to bend my kindle. You can read the synopsis for yourself and you will not get any spoilers from this girl. Just do yourself a favor, if you want to read a book that grabs ahold of you from the jump, don’t miss this. A kazillion thank you’s to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc and a huge thank you to Nicole Trope for writing such twisty books.

The Therapist by Nicole Trope was another excellent book by this author, especially as it had storyline with brilliant twists and turns throughout that will have you gripped. The Therapist was one of the best books I have read and once I started it I could not put it down, it had me turning the pages of my kindle to find out what. happens next. I loved the main character Lana, who is a therapist, and she loves her job helping people, Everyone thinks they can trust their therapist, You go there to talk about your problems, your fears etc and Hope they can help you and make you better by just talking etc.
Lana, takes on her fellow Therapist Ben client called Sandy, but something about her tears she cries in her session does not feel right, Lana sits there and listens to Sandy talk about her Husband, and she is all taking it in. . . . Shandy tells Lana she should have never married Mike, everyone thinks Mike is a wonderful Husband. Sandy's head is a mess and all she need is someone to sit there and to listen to her. But. Shandy thinks she is going Mad!!!!! and its all in her head! But is it?
At least I can trust Lana her therapist – she believes everything I say., and she is going to show the world exactly what her dear husband is really like.
Lena tells Sandy she can trust her and she promises to keep her secrets a secret and nothing will go outside these for walls. . . . . . . . Well, for now!!! and arranges to see her again, hopefully to understand and help her more. . . . . .
There is a knock on Lana's door. . . .On the other side of the door is Mike, he is Sandy's Husband and tells Lana we need to talk and it is about Shandy - my wife.
Shandy has not come home. .. . . . Where is she?
What else did Sandy tell Lana?
Is Lana in danger?. . . .
Someone is lying but who?. . . . . Are they all lying?
Brilliant book especially for you holiday.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

This is a suspenseful psychological thriller! Perfect if you love twisty, multi-perspective mysteries that keep you guessing. Although there wasn’t anything SUPER mind blowing, the book did keep my attention. I would recommend to fans of authors like Shari Lapena or Lisa Jewell.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
When therapist Lana takes on a new patient she just wants to help. Sandy arrives to their first session with a black eye and Lana can’t stop herself from thinking it’s fake. Sandy tells Lana about her broken marriage and her alcoholic husband Mike. When Sandy goes missing Lana takes it upon herself to find out what really happened, she recruits her coworker Ben to do a house call to ask Mike what is going on.
The story is told through 3 POVs: Lana, Mike and Sandy. I enjoyed Lana’s chapters the most even though she makes a lot of questionable decisions. Sandy’s chapters are just unhinged and overall I found Mikes chapters a bit boring.
I did guess the main “twist” before the end but I still enjoyed the book, it felt similar to Gone Girl.
The Therapist is out Now!
Thank you to NetGalley for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received a complementary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the author and the publisher.
Another enjoyable read from Nicole Trope! This one is a tough one to summarize, as Lana tries to help a new patient referred to her from her new partner in her practice. Things really start to spiral and as you read along you start to wonder how this one can wind together at the end, but as usual, it does. A quick, page turning read that will keep you wanting to keep reading one more chapter!
