This is the second in the Country Nurse series. Lara Flynn is a nurse in the Lancashire Countryside in 1936. She's settling into her post at Ingleside Surgery and bonding with the families in the area as well as her colleagues.
I'm really enjoying this series and could see it as a mini series on TV eventually. It gives me Call the Midwife vibes. I love Lara, the bond she has with her colleagues, as well as the families in the area who come together to help each other out in a crisis. Throughout it all, she's dealing with patients and cases and healing from her past trauma. I'm looking forward to the next in the series as she builds a life there.
Thanks to @boldwoodbooks, @netgalley, and the author for this arc.

Lara's back in this second installment with the country nurses. She certainly has a tough job.
It's been a while since I read the last book but this started with a refresher reminding us of Lara's plight in Liverpool and history with Patrick. This could be read as a standalone book but I think the series is a nice escape back to a generation long gone.
Lara and Marion are great friends and it's nice to see their working relationship and friendship continue especially after Marion's accident in the last book. We get more information about the two in this too so the story builds on them as characters as well as brings in new flights that they and the Doctors need to deal with.
I liked the nostalgia this brings as well as the reminders of how different things are now. We're much more advanced medically speaking and more aware of things like postnatal depression etc. I enjoyed reading this and looking forward to the next adventure.

“Changing Seasons for the Country Nurse” is the second book in the “Country Nurse” series by Kate Eastham. I didn’t read the first book in this series, and reading other reviews, I think I would’ve gotten things figured out more quickly if I’d read the first book. I can understand why this book is a popular series - as the writing and history research feels well done. I think the friendships felt real and I think this series would make a great TV series at some point.

This had that historical fiction element that I was looking for and enjoyed the overall concept that I wanted. I enjoyed the use of the nursing and how it uses farming as a blend in this concept. I was invested in what was happening with the characters and enjoyed the realism that they were used for. Kate Eastham writes a strong storyline with characters that the reader cared about.

This was such an easy read. The author does such a great job of making the reader draw to the characters smoothly. The reader gets hooked and has a hard time putting down the story of Lara and her adventures. This story will bring you to your knees in tears. Highly recommend.

This book was a real treat. Lovely characters and a brilliant story.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

As I'd read the first Country Nurse book, I was thrilled to be offered the chance to review this, the second in what promises to be an excellent series. As is often the case in a series of books, the second book was even better than the first. Characters we started to learn about became even more interesting and the story was excellent. I can't wait to read the next one!

Set in the quiet Lancashire countryside of 1936, this second installment in the Diary of a Country Nurse series follows Lara Flynn—a city-trained nurse navigating muddy lanes, skeptical villagers, and the ghosts of her past.
Eastham’s own nursing background is clear within the writing of into every scene. The blend of rural medicine and farming life feels genuine and immersive, I was hooked.
I really like Lara’s character; her journey is one of resilience and overcoming obstacles. From comforting frightened patients to facing a tragic case involving a young mother, her strength and compassion are deeply moving.
The additional characters are also brilliant, spirited colleague Marion, homely Mrs H, to the erratic but brilliant senior doctor.
Perfect for fans of Call the Midwife and All Creatures Great and Small, this saga is a quiet triumph of courage and care. I can’t wait to return.

another heart warming and lovely to read book to this series. im so glad we get to come back to the years of our nurse Lara. shes moved to the English countryside for a fresh start. and as we all know its never quite easy for a new comer to be welcomed into the communities. but for this book we are back with the gang and love that we are. i really enjoyed them all in book 1 so getting to know them better was even better for this book. you get to see the day to day in this book but also new and unexpected plot points. added in. we've got life in the village, in the practice and there are ups and down along the way. of course we get to see new patients of Lara's which felt true and authentic. this was one particular point that carried on throughout both books, the medical side of things felt very true.
we also have Lara who is of course trying to heal her own heart at the same time as helping others and fit in in her new home. but i would definitely love to have her as my nurse. she is such a wonderful person and caring nurse even when she has her own things going on.
Kate also brings the country life to vibrant colour in her books. i was full immersed and in love with all the descriptions. the seasons, the characters new and old, the communities are all told in such richness that you smile and feel heartened by your read every step of the way. and it also is just another layer Kate has to her writing that makes me care about her book and the characters involved within the pages.
im so glad i came across this series. its a pleasure and a privilege when you get to read such gorgeous books.

Another eventful visit to Lara Flynn as the district nurse in a village in Lancashire. She’s still trying to prove herself as the newcomer as well as struggling with her past, but she determined to be the best she can be.
When tragedy strikes as one of her patients isn’t coping with motherhood to a new baby a swell as her other children Lara trusts her gut feeling but us he yo late?
Brilliantly written leaving us wanting another visit soon.

A lovely read I was so involved with the characters the story line. This was a story I never wanted to end.Kate Eastham is a gem of an author.#NetGalley #boldwoodbooks.

Oh wow that was an amazing book it had me hooked from beginning to end. But poor Lydia and the children but thank god that they are ok.
So glad Michael has a good head on his shoulders.
I love all the characters in this series of books but I think my favourite is Mrs h she is so much like a mother to them all including doctor bingham. Who is showing his softer side in this book. Can't wait for book number 3.

A heartfelt story of warmth and the pro's and con's of country living but as we learn the residents wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The characters are what drew me in to the book and I really love Mrs Hewitt who seems to me the glue that holds the ship together with the regular chats around the dining table. It's all mud, farm dogs, dancing and more for the nurses who are a delight as are the patients with their different ailments. The look at mental illness is touching and real. Overall it's a delightful addition to a new series the only gripe I have is that it ended to soon because I couldn't put it down.

Changing Seasons for the Country Nurse is a tender, heartfelt story that radiates warmth and courage. It is the second book in a planned series. Set in the beautiful but challenging Lancashire countryside of 1936, the novel follows Lara Flynn, a determined young nurse trying to heal both her patients and her own wounded heart. Kate Eastham brings the world of rural nursing to life with such authenticity—muddy lanes, loyal farm dogs, and close-knit communities are painted with loving detail.
Lara’s journey from heartbreak to hope is inspiring, as she builds trust with her patients and colleagues while rediscovering her own strength. This story reminds us that healing often happens in small, everyday acts of kindness. Fans of Call the Midwife will adore this touching, uplifting tale. It’s a warm hug of a book—filled with compassion, resilience, and the quiet heroism of one woman determined to make a difference.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood books for an advance digital review copy. This is my honest review.

This was book two of a delightful series set in 1936 following Liverpool native, nurse Lara Flynn who has moved to the English countryside for a fresh start. There was so much I enjoyed about this book! I love a series that follows the same characters, and helps us get to know them better - and this one does. While new people were added, we keep our original group of five: nurses Lara and Marion, the two doctors, and housekeeper Mrs. Hewitt.
This book really has it all: Life, death, happiness, sadness, and even a bit of romance. I particularly enjoyed how nicely the author conveyed the feeling of autumn in the countryside. There were plenty of sub-plots in this book that kept my interest all the way through. We meet quite a few new village dwellers, most notably Mrs. Lennox who is about to have her 4th baby. As a nurse myself, I really appreciate the authenticity of the medical situations that crop up! After finishing this book, I learned that the author herself is a trained nurse and midwife and her first hand knowledge certainly shines. I am already looking forward to the next installment of this series where we can once again follow all these engaging characters!
A big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with this charming book for my honest review.

A beautiful, easy read. Full of beautiful descriptive writing, this book is a wonderful piece if escapism. I loved every written word.

District nurse Lara Flynn, her personal strength is tested.
Working in the Ingleside surgery, Lancashire this is a delightful book to read.
As changing seasons in the life of a nurse can be hard going, a unique character for readers to love and admire.
Great, fantastic, inspiring, I loved it.

I just finished this next book by Kate Eastham. Her characters really draw me in, especially the nurses. I like that most issues are settled, or at least discussed, back at the surgery around the kitchen table. Mrs. Hewitt, the housekeeper, holds them all together. If you haven't read this series, I suggest starting with the first book, A Fresh Start for the Country Nurse. Thanks to the publisher for the advance copy, the opinions are my own. Definitely recommend this series!

A wonderful story of a nurse/mid-wife trying to start over in a new town. Nostalgic, heartwarming. The characters are very believable. This is book 2 of 3.

this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone, but I would read the first book first. good story
