I enjoyed how the author used behaviors taught to children by their parents to then teach children about how animals behave. This shows the reader how animals can behave in ways that are different from humans. I liked that the author informed the reader that there are behaviors that not even scientists understand to show the reader that even scientists don't know everything.

An interesting and informative book for kids about various animal behaviors that would be considered taboo for humans to do. Some of the entries were quite gross, but kids seem to find that amusing sometimes so I could see that being a draw for some kids. Overall, it was an interesting book and I got to learn a few new things.

This is such an enjoyable read on animal behaviors. What a great way for children to learn about how different animals may act!

I thought from the cover this would be an informational book with some humor along the way. It is informational, but it is also a bit gross. Exactly what will make some of my students interested and likely to hang onto these facts and share them with others. There is interdependence of animal groups and there are animals that use each other for survival. This book has great photographs of the animals being discussed as well as parental sayings that are not followed in the wild animal world in the same way our parents my intend them. There are not enough facts for a single animal study, but there are certainly memorable facts that may be great in an introductory paragraph about an animal to grab your audience and engage them in your research! As the leader of the Scripts National Spelling Bee in my school I will have to have this book in my collection for some of the terms scientists use to describe these often quite rude animal behaviors. When I introduce this book I will likely talk about the afterword as much as a few of the behaviors of the animals. It will be a popular title, that is certain.

This is a fun, humorous, and informative nonfiction book about animal species and their behavioral habits. What may seem rude or shocking to humans is just part of nature. Animals do things that we may see as gross, but it may have a perfectly rational explanation. This is a fun way to learn about nature and to see that we're not so different from other species in some ways.

I highly recommend this non-fiction picture book for schools and libraries.

I really enjoyed this! There are so many interesting facts that haven't been discussed in much detail before. There are facts that are humorous, keeping some of the deadlier information a bit more lighthearted. I would absolutely recommend this to readers who love learning about animals. I think the selections of photos throughout the book were very helpful and enjoyable.

I wouldn't really call these animals rude as much as clever and adaptable. A lot of the odd behaviors here are for safety, and some of them are really gross, so it would be a lot of fun to read this with different groups of kids. The illustrations are engaging, clear and gorgeous, and the animals are so interesting.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this advanced readers copy

This was a really fun book to read! All of the facts that were in this book were very unique and super interesting, which allows readers to stay engaged the entire time they read, which is great. Additionally, a lot of the information in this book was made up of facts that you definitely don't hear every day, which makes this book highly fresh and unique. Yet another great thing about this book is some of the facts were funny, which will easily make kids giggle while reading, and also make them want to share what they've learned with their friends any chance they get. Lastly, all of the images matched the writing perfectly, which also added a visual element to what this book was trying to teach readers. This is an absolutely amazing book and I have no doubt that it will be a total hit! Bravo!!

The title and description of this book got my attention. I read some of the facts with my kids and they thought they were gross, funny, or both. We did not look at the sea otter fact because they currently love sea otters. 😬 So many rude TILs!

Thanks to Lerner Publishing Group and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Fun, gross, interesting, fascinating, wierd, strange, and wonderful animal behavior, primarily for survival strategies, but which, no doubt, will strike children as rude, is well presented in this book. It is a science book, but I found myself reading some of the examples to my wife, much to her consternation, who asked me, "Are you going to read me the entire book?" Well, up to that point, I had planned to do just that. But I did not continue. Instead, I receomment you pick up this wonderful kid's book and have a great (and sometimes revolting) time.
