I love, love, love this series. Icing on the Murder is Maddy’s next adventure, and she's back to her amateur sleuthing, getting one step closer to her happily ever after. Every time I read one of these books, it's like a family reunion. We just pick up where we left off, and I’m right back in New Bison with all the lovable and nosey characters, waiting to see what happens next.

I absolutely love the narrator for this series. I had so much fun listening. You will feel like you are a part of the story. The book is a good balance of laughter, drama and mystery. It all comes together so well. I am looking forward to the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having read every book in Valerie Burns’ cozy and charming Baker Street Mystery series, I was absolutely delighted to receive the audiobook ARC of Icing on the Murder from NetGalley. As the fourth installment, it tied the series together beautifully and gave such a satisfying sense of closure while still delivering all the warmth, wit, and small-town intrigue I’ve come to love.
The characters have truly grown over the course of the series, and I really enjoyed seeing where each of them ended up. The audiobook narration was excellent as well bringing the quirky cast to life in a way that made me feel like I was right back in New Bison with them.
Overall, Icing on the Murder is a perfect conclusion for longtime fans of the series.

Loved this cozy murder mystery! Baby the mastiff was the star! Maddy is engaged about to be married when she enters a baking competition at a wedding expo. The contest is run by the world-famous Serafina. She’s is renowned but she’s not the best person. So unfortunately, she is mysteriously murdered. Now, it is up to Maddy to piece the pieces together and figure out who did it.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ALC of this audio. All views and thoughts are my own.
DNF at the 48% mark. I really wanted to like this! But I guess reading books about influencers is just not for me? This book drags on and on and there isn't a murder till 40% into the book, which is a loooong while to wait for a dead body to show up in a mystery book.
This is not the author's fault, but somehow I just couldn't get into this book the way I wanted to. The audio quality was excellent and the narrator (same as narrator of History Lessons, an audiobook I really enjoyed) is very very good. However, this book just wasn't for me.
3 stars/5

Icing on the Murder by Valerie Burns is smart, lighthearted, and undeniably fun—a celebration of friendship, small-town camaraderie, and canine charm, all wrapped around a deliciously twisted murder. Maddy’s voice is sharp, her community is heartwarming, and the storyline proves that even the sweetest settings can hide sinister surprises. For fans of cozy mysteries with strong female sleuths, canine sidekicks, quirky humor, and a dash of wedding-day drama.

This was such a fun addition to the series! I love how Maddy balances running her bakery with (reluctantly) stumbling into murder investigations, and this one had the perfect mix of cake, chaos, and crime. The bridal expo setting made for a really entertaining backdrop, especially with all the wedding drama sprinkled in.
I enjoyed the mystery—it kept me guessing without ever feeling too heavy, which is exactly what I want in a cozy. The suspects were quirky, the banter was fun, and of course Baby the mastiff continues to steal the show.
It’s the kind of book that feels like catching up with friends—you get the humor, the small-town charm, and just enough suspense to keep you turning pages. Plus, it left me hungry for cake and ready for the next mystery....

For readers craving cozy mystery centered on amateur sleuthing with bakery warmth. Ideal if you love fast, funny pacing, small-town charm, minimal gore, and recipes tucked between clues.

Icing on the Murder is a fun, light-hearted mystery with just the right amount of charm. The narrator does a wonderful job bringing the quirky characters and small-town setting to life. The plot is engaging and keeps you guessing without being too heavy. It’s a cozy mystery that doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it an enjoyable listen for anyone looking for a bit of intrigue and humor. Perfect for when you need a little escape. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book!

A very cute cozy murder! The narration by Jasmin Walker was excellent and made this story come alive. I loved the banter and the conversations between the characters, and the plot was engaging. I will definitely look to read more in this series! Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to provide an honest review of this audiobook.

Icing on the Murder was a light and cozy read with a fun bakery backdrop that made me crave sweets while turning the pages. The small-town charm and amateur sleuthing were enjoyable, and the mystery had a few twists that kept me guessing. However, the pacing dragged in places, and some of the characters felt a little underdeveloped, making it harder to stay fully invested in the story. Overall, it’s a decent cozy mystery—pleasant enough for fans of the genre, but not one that stood out as especially memorable.

Author Valerie Burns and narrator Jasmine Walker have done it again. Valerie Burns has created a wonderful cast of characters that draw you in and the narrator brought each one to life. The Baker Street Mystery crew is back to help Maddie Montgomery solve another murder in Bison, Michigan.
I love this series and this installment was another great read. If you love found family, murder, cozy mystery, and a touch of romance, than this is the book for you.

i was not sure what i thought this was going to be but i liked it,
easy listen, easy to follow.
audio was great,

Maddy is running Baby Cakes Bakery which her aunt left for her. Now Maddy is getting married and country's dream wedding expo is in her town so now Maddy has a chance to win a free all expenses paid dream wedding planned by the famous planner Serafina.
But things go wrong when someone gets murdered at the bridal expo by none other than one of the baby cakes' cake skewer. so obviously, Maddy wants to figure out who did it before it gets pinned on her.
I love the bakery setting and the fall backdrop. It set the whole mood. Michael is a sweetheart and I love how protective he is of Maddy. The story was way more fun because her entire bridal party was present at the expo and everybody is using their sleuthing skills to gather information. Mystery was solvable before its revelation but I enjoyed the book nonetheless and I would love to continue this series.

I've never read any of the other books in the series, but besides spoiling the romance, I dont feel like I missed anything. I really enjoyed this story, especially Baby ❤️ I'll definitely be going back and reading this series from the beginning. I love a good cozy, and this one hit the spot! I hope Walker also narrates the others as well because she was perfect!

I absolutely love this entire series by Valerie Burns. Even though i kind of predicted halfway thru what would happen, i still loved it

I love this cozy murder mystery series. This audiobook was very good and the story fun. The plot the twist and the laughs. I love all the characters. Very fun read.

Thank you, Netgalley and RBmedia Recorded Books, for the advanced reader copy of the audiobook! I loved this book and the narrator. Although I did not read the previous books in the series this book covered the plots of the previous books and solved the previous crimes. This book was funny and witty.

This was a fast cozy mystery that would make a fun Hallmark show! If Hallmark mysteries is your jam this will be for you! The audio was well done and enjoyable.
Also read with caution… you will be hungry and want all the apple desserts before you’re done with the book hahaha luckily there are recipes at the end!

This book was such a treat from start to finish! Icing on the Murder is the perfect cozy mystery—full of charm, twists, and of course, delicious desserts that will make you crave sweets with every chapter. The narrator is INCREDIBLE for this style of book. I couldn’t stop listening and actually finished it in just one day! The pacing, the humor, and the cozy small-town feel made it impossible to put down. What I loved most was how fun and lighthearted it felt, even with a murder at the center of the story. It’s the kind of book that keeps you smiling, guessing, and maybe even a little hungry. 🍩🍪 If you love cozy mysteries with heart, humor, and a sprinkle of sweetness, this one is definitely for you. 💕
