Fun and cozy murder mystery! I enjoyed the listen. The narrator did an amazing job of bringing the story to life. The book has a very cute cast of characters that I would love to see more of.

Not a bad book, but I'm not at all into social media so all that was not relatable, And all the wedding planning was just boring to me. I think a younger audience would have fun with it. I liked the Narrator a lot. The book just wasn't for me. I think that, to be fair, it was well written.

This is a fun cozy mystery. I haven't read the previous books in the series, but I'll probably go back and check them out. The writing is fun, the characters are interesting, and the mystery was fairly solid.

This is a fun cozy mystery with a very immature heroine. The discussion of wedding stuff was stressful, probably because people just value different things in weddings. I liked the setting, the group of friends, and the quick pace. But the heroine just seemed really ditzy, despite lots of life experience and education. I had a hard time. I loved the narration and felt it added a love of life to this book!

**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – *Icing on the Murder* by Valerie Burns (Audiobook)**
From the very first chapter, *Icing on the Murder* had me hooked like a piping bag full of buttercream. This cozy mystery is the perfect mix of small-town charm, witty banter, and just enough drama to keep you side-eyeing every character. Listening to it on audiobook made it even better — the narrator absolutely nailed the voices, pacing, and humor, making me feel like I was right there in the bakery, sipping coffee and eavesdropping on all the delicious gossip.
The story follows baker and amateur sleuth Maddy Montgomery as she’s knee-deep in buttercream roses *and* a murder investigation. Between juggling her bakery business, her adorable (and hilariously spoiled) dog, and trying to clear someone’s name, Maddy proves she’s as sharp as her cake knives. I loved how the mystery unfolded — every time I thought I had it solved, Valerie Burns tossed in another breadcrumb that sent me spiraling in a new direction.
The cozy vibes are immaculate, but the stakes are high enough to keep you hitting “next chapter” without pause. If you’re a fan of *Gilmore Girls* energy with a sprinkle of *Knives Out* intrigue, this is your sweet spot.
🎧 **Audiobook note:** Highly recommend listening if you want to feel fully immersed — it’s like having your favorite barista tell you a juicy true-crime story while frosting cupcakes.
**ARC Review — thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Valerie Burns for this delightful listen!*

This is a great series. I highly recommend anything written by this author. The characters are engaging.

This was my favorite Baker Street Mystery yet. I absolutely loved the whole premise of the wedding expo and getting to see Maddy and Michael grow more in love has the romance lover in me squealing with joy, they are just so cute.
I swear the twists get better and better, this one kept me guessing nonstop as we got to the third act and the unaliver was revealed. Plus, there were so many funny moments that this one was a super enjoyable ride from beginning to end.
The audio was great once again. Jasmin Walker was fantastic and I loved this listen. Thank you so much RB Media for the advanced copy!

A cute cozy mystery that will keep you interested for the next installment.
Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for giving me the opportunity to read this!

Icing on the Murder by Valerie Burns is a charming, comedy-style murder mystery that had me smiling the whole way through. Maddy, a small-town bakery owner and bride-to-be, enters a wedding planning contest only to find herself a suspect when the celebrity planner from hell is murdered at the bridal expo. With the help of her quirky friends and her lovable mastiff, Baby, Maddy sets out to clear her name and crack the case. The story starts off a bit slow, but once it picks up, it’s a fun, laugh, perfect for cozy mystery lovers!

Thank you NetGalley for this Arc.
This was a great cozy mystery ! I didn’t read the first three but i didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. There was good character background and world building. I enjoyed this story a lot! I’m interested in reading the first three now.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version.
I was enjoying this book at first but then the author decided to make a sacrilegious comment that made me very upset. I am really tired of these female authors putting comments and liberal statements and feelings in their books. This was a DNF.

This is a classic "whodunnit" mystery type of novel kind of mimicking the game "Clue". Valerie burns (the author) did an excellent job of making every character seem suspicious for some reason. Also, the main character (Maddy) is a very strong FMC and it's fun to listen to her internal dialogue!
Maddy is the owner of a small bakery called "Baby Cakes". She has a pet mastiff named "Baby" which is a funny name for a huge dog. Maddy herself is a social influencer. She enters into a competition to win the grand prize of having a huge name in the wedding business (Serafina) plan her wedding for her. Serafina is known for being ruthless and demeaning to all contestants involved in her competitions. However, since Maddy is so overwhelmed with the wedding planning process, she's determined to win this competition at all costs.
Maddy is engaged to her fiance, Michael, and is determined to give him the wedding of their dreams after she was stood up at the alter by her last fiance. This is the fourth book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. All of this being said - there are several suspects in the story who have a potential motive to murder Serafina. Maddy rushes to find out who this is before the wrong person may be charged.
I listened to this book - given through NetGalley as an ALC in exchange for my honest review. I gave it three stars because although I really loved the narrator, I felt like there was a lot of emotional depth lacking from the story that could have taken it to another level. I also had to somewhat push myself to listen to it because it moved a bit slow. Then all of a sudden, everything happened really quickly at the end. Also, for a murder mystery, the ending was somewhat predictable. I think this had a lot of potential but just fell a little short for my taste.

Ugghhh I love this series. And I totally want Baby as my dog! If you love a murder mystery book this is the series to read

I have really enjoyed the Baker Street Mystery. I love cozy mysteries and book 4, Icing on the Murder is all about influencer-turned-bakery-owner Maddy Montgomery planning her wedding. When she learns that her favorite wedding planner, Serafina will be hosting an all-expenses-paid wedding, Maddy wants to do everything to win. Serafina turns out to be worst than any bridezilla and someone is after her. Maddy and her friends get together to figure out who wanted Serafina gone.
I really hope this is not the last book in the series. I have found this series so comforting. However, reading this while pregnant is CRIMINAL! I want all the baked goods now.
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ALC via Netgalley.

nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book. nice book.

Icing on the murder follows Maddy Montgomery and her beloved friends as she inadvertently gets caught up in a murder mystery of a renowned wedding planner.
I must say I love the narrator; Jasmin Walker! I’ve been listening to the audiobooks for this series since the first book and I am never disappointed. This narrator does such a great job of capturing the character’s personality. She really brings the character to life and adds depth and emotion to the character. I love her enthusiasm as a narrator.
The story was very engaging and the characters were so lovable as always! I enjoyed following Maddy as she worked her crime solving magic.
This is my favorite of the series thus far and I am so hopeful Valerie Burns continues to write this series and Jasmin Walker continues to narrate!
I highly recommend the entire series for a great, heartwarming, and fun cozy mystery!

Ms. Hannah and Baby are always my favorite characters. Maddy and her obsession with Serphina nearly got her killed. Also her persistence. Maddy has sooo many people around her who love her. Dickson being the murderer was not surprising, also, he was a massive player. Alia and Maddy getting close was interesting, and I am sure Michael was skeptical about that. Love the narrator. She did an amazing job with the different voices and accents. Very versatile and dynamic.

Wedding jitters, wild shenanigans, and a dog who steals the show—instant fun!” 🐾💍🔪

Icing on the Murder (Baker Street Mystery #4) by Valerie Burns
This cozy mystery had me laughing out loud! Maddie may be anxious and indecisive about her wedding plans, but when a crime happens, she’s all focus and action—and her quirky dog and friends make the ride even better.
The mystery is a light backdrop to the humor and heart, and the audiobook narration by Jasmine Walker was so engaging I forgot I was listening. Perfect for cozy mystery fans who love shenanigans, lovable pets, and fast-paced fun.

Icing on the Murder by Valerie Burns was a fantastic audiobook! I usually don't find narrators memorable, but Jasmin Walker read this book amazingly with the emotion and personality of Maddy. Even reading the Harrah's and talk with Baby worked well with Walker's narration. I'll be looking for more books read by this narrator soon.
As for the plot, I enjoyed that it was short and succinct, all taking placing in one location with clear characters. I have read the previous three books, so Maddy's squad was easy to follow. However, I do wish the book had been longer with more detail as they solved the murders. Maybe it was because the audiobook was only six hours, but I felt like it flew by and could have used more bakery and Baby content. This book seemed to have significantly less bakery, Baby, and Aunt Octavia content than the first three books. I hope the next one returns to those elements.
Thank you to RBmedia and Valerie Burns for this ALC!
4.5 stars

Ive read all the Baker Street cozies except this one, I listened to it and putting voice to these characters was challenging for me. Maddy and the gang have become my friends so listening to them was a bit difficult. The most challenging was Maddy her voice was kind of cool and hip and when I think back to book 1 and 2 Maddy was conservative, teetering on bougie. Ms Hannah’ voice was too strong and powerful for an elderly woman dealing with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Another challenge with this title was the title I didn’t get it. Why Icing on the Murder?
Let’s get to the content wow I was grateful we had such a villain in this title. Serafina is not as nice as her name may suggest, she is ruthless and a bully. When she ends up dead with tools from Maddie’s bakery impaled in her neck, Maddie and her friends have only hours to solve the murder.
The dynamics of the characters and the way they worked together was enjoyable. I loved that in this title it was more than just the group meeting but they collaborated and was assigned task. The way they all worked together with so little time and came up with the answer was well developed and the plot moved well.
In exchange for my thoughtful review Netgallery shared the audible copy.
