I was so excited by the topic of moving to France and very much appreciated the author's details about his struggles and what he overcame. Unfortunately, the book had a lot of asides/author jokes that took away from the plot. Also, there was no solid through line or story arc to follow so I got whiplash from paragraph to paragraph as the author quickly and inexplicably changed subjects. Better organization of the story and some paring down of asides would help this book immensely.
