I truly enjoyed this tale. Yes, it is holiday themed and a great portion of the plot revolves around the holiday but it didn't feel Hallmark Christmas movie cheesy. I liked the characters, especially the FMC's fierce girl friend group. The plot was predictable but it was by no means distracting. It was an all around good, and at points spicy, time. Definitely recommend.

enjoyed reading this second chance, amnesia, force, proximity, exes to lovers, enemies to lovers, one bed, fake dating romance. This is a holiday themed romance, where our main characters are staying with the man they want a business partnership with and have to fake date their way to achieve their goal

Thanks to Harlequin Audio and NetGalley for the advance listener copy! This was a fun paranormal holiday read that left me wanting Christmas to be here now! Tia and Henry come from two different powerful witch families. They are exes and when their family businesses merge they are forced to work together- and it's not going well. They are still attracted to each other and have unresolved issues. When a potion goes wrong causing Henry to forget their past they are forced pretend they are back together. Henry can't remember their past but he knows that they are still attracted to each other and he decides to use his time to convince Tia to give them another try. A fun, cozy holiday read! (I just wonder why they released it in early September instead of closer to Christmas) Definitely worth a read!

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and Sophie H Morgan for the ARC of this book! This review is my honest opinion
I was very excited to receive this ARC as I had previously read the first two books in this series and really enjoyed the magical world and authors writing. The different familial lines in this world are really interesting to read about and I was happy to get a glimpse at two more families and of course Tia’s story. Tia and Henry were a lot of fun to read about with all their banter. And there’s nothing better than reading about two people falling in love all over again.
I will say, I’m not a huge fan of the third act break up but I’m glad there was some growth for both characters through the turmoil.
I really enjoy this series and would say this is the best one yet!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to listen to an Advanced Listener’s Copy (ALC) in exchange for my honest opinion/review.
Tia and Henry are both in line to become owners of their portion of their families’ potion business. But they’re also exes…
When a potion erases Henry’s memory, he still gravitates toward Tia, but she can’t let go of the past. He wants to understand the situation and how they ended up where they are now. Will Tia finally let Henry in?
Season of the Witch is the third book in the Toil and Trouble series, but it works well as a standalone. I thought the narration was done well but it would have been much more interesting if there were two narrators – one for Tia and one for Henry. The overall story was cute, both witchy and wintery. It was a cute holiday read and definitely perfect for people who enjoy the following tropes:
✨Fake dating
🪄Force proximity
✨One bed
🪄Amnesia (by potion)
✨Second chance

I'm feeling generous. This was really not my thing. There was just enough spice to be creepy, like that oversharing friend who you wish kept more details to herself. The FMC was not remotely likable to me, and not someone I'd want to know. Both came across as immature and I'm starting to think I should run far and fast from romance because these dumb, young characters are so annoying. And I firmly believe falling in love is a mental illness in and of itself, so it's books like this that make me think horror is really my genre. It's like romance and country music are the same, I don't like it, I don't get it, and I will avoid it much more vigorously from now on.

This is book three in the Toil and Trouble series, and it was such a fun and cozy listen. Even though I jumped in without reading the first two books, it was easy to follow and made me want to go back and start from the beginning.
Tia is very determined and just a little guarded, which made it so fun to see her paired with Henry, the ex who once broke her heart. They are forced to fake date so they can impress an investor after their family's companies merge, and all their history comes bubbling back. The one bed, forced proximity, and fake fating added just the right amount of tension to their slow-burn second chance.
Henry was so easy to fall for. He is sweet, funny, and more than willing to fight for Tia now that he has another shot and sees where he went wrong the first time. Watching him try to win her back while navigating the magical chaos around them gave he story so much heart. The potion mishap that wipes his memory gives them the perfect chance to start fresh, and I loved how it showed a softer, more hopeful side of their relationship.
Natalie did a great job bringing the story to life. She captured Tia's stubbornness perfectly and kept the pacing smooth and easy to follow. While I think a dual narration would have made Henry stand out more, she still kept the audiobook engaging.
If you love a second chance romance, with a mix of magic, humor, and a hint of holiday charm, this book will be great for your next cozy read. It was sweet, spicy, and full of cozy vibes that made it perfect for fall.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the chance to listen to this ALC.

This was a really good book. I haven't read the books prior to this one in the series. I loved how the second chance romance was. I also love how the two workaholics were forced to stop and enjoy the Christmas season. If you're looking for snarky, witty, funny, romantic, spicy then this is the book for you.

Although I didn’t realize The Season of the Witch was the third book in the Toil and Trouble series when I started, it worked surprisingly well as a standalone.
The audiobook is told in dual third-person POV, though there’s only one narrator. She handled the voices well, but I think having two narrators for Tia and Henry would have made the story more dynamic and engaging.
As for the romance, I usually enjoy enemies-to-lovers, but the animosity and immaturity here felt a little too heavy for me, considering the age of the characters. I also struggled to connect with Tia’s character, which made it harder to fully invest in the relationship.
Overall, the book had its moments, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
Thank you to @NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was shockingly smutty, and it didn't really fit. It was a cozy, magical Christmas story, then suddenly it was graphically sexual. I love smut and don't usually dislike sexual content, but this felt like watching a sex scene with your parents. Without the sex, I think it would be five stars. I enjoyed the world it is set in and the characters.

Okay, I didn't realize at first that this was the 3rd book in the series. While Morgan did a fairly good job of providing the relevant background info, I still felt like I was missing out a big on deeper parts of the plot. But witchy holiday vibes are my FAVORITE, so I didn't even care that much once I got into it.
This story has a second chance romance between two exes, fake dating, forced proximity, and some memory loss thrown in for good measure. Needless to say, this book was a lot of fun. It was a quick read that didn't take itself too seriously.
My biggest issue with the book was that I just wasn't in love with the characters. While I was invested in the story, I didn't particularly like either of the main characters. But that is on me! The dynamics and the banter were really fun; it just didn't hook me.
The narration was great! Harlequin is quickly becoming my go-to publisher for audiobooks because I never finish one that isn't a good time.
All in all, this was a solid 3 for me. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Still, if you've read the other books or a sucker for these tropes, give this a try!
Thank you to Harlequin Audio, Harlequin Romance, the authors, and NetGalley for the ALC of Season of the Witch. This is my own review!

Full disclosure I didn't realize this was part of a series when I picked it up. So keep that in mind. I hear that our FMC Tia and MMC Henry were in previous books and their story was a long time coming but I didn't have that background going in. There was no investment in these characters for me at the start.
Season of the Witch is a Christmas romance with witches and warlocks. Tia and Henry broke up 8 years ago but after the family businesses merge and they are trying to get an investor they are forced to act like a loving couple while on a retreat. There is a potion mixup and Henry loses his memory. Henry starts to fall for Tia and is desperate to find out what went wrong and win Tia back.
This one was cute and a little spicy. It wasn't a bad read but it didn't stand out to me either hence the 3 star review. I also feel like the story could have still been told without them being magical. It could have also not been set during Christmas both are just kind of addons nothing is that magical or Christmasy, though it did add another fun layer I suppose.
I do understand Tia wanting to protect her heart but she is just a glass half empty kind of lady. Even in matters not about Henry she was pretty negative. And its CHRISTMAS Tia!
This one is filled with tropes many love so if you are into banter, second chances, fake dating, and one bedroom then go ahead and check this one out.

*~ A mix of two seasons ~*
This story is a perfect read for the in-between time of spooky season and Christmas.
I did feel myself a little torn as I listened through this story. Part of it was on me because I have not read/listened to the first two in the series so I was playing a little bit of catch up. But other than that, I feel like since there was only one narrator, it sometimes was hard to follow the flip to and from Tia and Henry's perspectives. I also just found myself getting more and more frustrated with how Tia was treated by others, including her own family, and left me feeling icky towards Henry as he withheld the truth about this memory coming back. I was happy for them in the end, but just had some conflicting feelings during the journey.
Thank you to Net Galley, Harlequin Audio, and Sophie H. Morgan for the ALC of this story.

If you are a fan of sassy strong female leads this will probably be right up your ally. I personally prefer a little bit of a softer FMC so I found Tia to be a bit abrasive at times but that's not to say her journey wasn't a fun one to experience.
In this story you have ex's that are trying to work together to close a deal for the company they are both working for. In the midst of their bickering the MMC Henry he loses his memory from a faulty potion.
I personally found their romance to be slightly lackluster in the realistic department. These are two stubborn people and watching them refuse to communicate with each other was painful at times. However; this series overall has been very enjoyable and the cameos from the previous couples was adorable. This book also had some good twists and a heart warming ending that really made the book for me.
I enjoy this authors ability to balance humor, romance, and emotional moments throughout the story. I was surprised that within a series there are two "second chance romances" and while the trope is standard the first and the third book feel entirely different and I like how each book had its own tone to the story with different themes.
Overall I would recommend this book to readers who like a more intense/fighting style of romance where the two are grappling with their own emotional growth while coming to terms with the fact that their first love was really their true love after all.

If spooky season ends and you aren’t ready to let go, let this book be your spooky holiday fix! Featuring rival exes who are forced to work together (and fake date) over Christmas when their family businesses merge, The Season of the Witch is a cozy and sexy paranormal romance.
Read if you like: Second-chance romance, magical societies, forced proximity, holiday activity marathons
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Audio for providing me with a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Season of the Witch is a second-chance romance between two business rivals forced to fake-date in order to woo an investor. Tia Hightower and Henry Pearlmatter are vying for eventual control of the company created out of the merger of their parents' businesses. The two dated for several years in their teens/early twenties but the relationship fell apart after Tia accused Henry of prioritizing work and his father's opinions over her and he didn't make any effort to change. With the merger, they've been thrown together again. Sparks still fly, but there's too much hurt for Tia to be anything but angry. A wonky potion causes Henry to lose all his memories of Tia, right as they're sent off to spend the month of December at a wealthy British warlock's estate to compete against several other companies looking for investment funds.
I didn't realize this was book three in a trilogy, but I don't think I missed out on anything because each book focuses on the romance of one of the three best girlfriends. While we get snippets of the other two relationships, Tia and Henry's story is complete in and of itself.
I really liked the setting - fancy English estate swathed in Christmas cheer - although the idea that any executive could afford to spend 4 weeks *not* at the office is a bit much. I also really liked Henry, who was a jerk in the past but really matured as he let down his guard. Tia on the other hand, was very difficult to like. I love prickly heroines and grumpy/sunshine pairings where she's the grump, but Tia was something else. Many times she was flat-out mean to Henry, and her backstory didn't really support her obsessive fear of being lied to. Another thing that threw me was that Tia and Henry both had significant, longterm issues with their parents that resolved almost instantly. Finally, I thought the book dragged on a little long. 370 pages is a lot for what is effectively a contemporary romance. Nevertheless, the prose itself was really good, the spicy scenes were great, and I enjoyed the worldbuilding. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more novels from Sophie H. Morgan!

🎄 Bookish Thoughts
I’m a bit conflicted with this one. On one hand, it was a cute witchy Christmas romance and I really liked how everything wrapped up in the end. On the other hand, I struggled with how many people lied to Tia and how much she had to deal with at once. The resolution with her parents was better than I expected, still messy.
Henry won me back with how he made things right, but I did not love the way her best friends spoke to her. Tia’s reactions felt completely reasonable and I wish she had been given more grace.
That said, there were a lot of sweet and magical moments sprinkled throughout and I enjoyed the writing style. The audiobook narration was especially good and I would definitely recommend listening to it.

Thank you to Harlequin Audio, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and NetGalley for the advanced copies. All thoughts are my own.

Perfect for the holiday seasons coming, witches, second chances and the cutest sidekicks run amuck in SEASON OF THE WITCH.
Tia, the FMC is sassy and takes NO crap from anyone, she is amazing.
Altogether a fun holiday book with lots of charm, I recommend to all my witchy lovin friends.

I loved the festive Christmas vibes, the magical touches, and the sense of found family in this story. I never fully connected with Tia, she tends to handle problems by lashing out or running, but Henry was a likeable character who truly loved her despite her flaws. Even without reading the first two books, this one stood strong as a standalone. Fun, cute, a little spicy, and a great way to kick off my holiday romance reads. Perfect if you enjoy magical fake-dating Christmas romances!
Thank you Harlequin Audio for the ALC of this book! It was such a great listen.

Third instalment of Toil & Trouble.
Narration by Natalie Duke.
Play time 12 hr 28 min.
Narration: 5 🌟
Story: 4.5 🌟
Natalie Duke did an amazing job bringing so many different characters to life. Giving them their own personalities. I found the pacing of this reading to be just right for this book.
I have not read the previous two books but I was able to pick up this book from the beginning without any problem. It was a great second chance enemies to lovers romance. This all takes place during the Christmas season making it very fitting for a Christmas read.
I will definitely be ready to read the previous two books now that I have hear this one.
Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin and Sophie for this ALC.
