If you’ve ever wished your holiday rom com came with memory erasing potions, fake dating, and a dash of magical chaos, Season of the Witch delivers in spades. I went in hoping for a cozy, witchy romance and got so much more.
The only downside? I didn’t realize it was the third book in the Toil & Trouble series, so now I’m scrambling to read the first two because I’m officially obsessed. Sophie H. Morgan wraps up the series with a snow-dusted, second-chance romance that’s both heartwarming and hilariously chaotic.
This book is a cinnamon roll laced with a love potion: sweet, spellbinding, and just the right amount of spicy.
What I loved:
• Banter that snaps, crackles, and spells
• Enemies to lovers energy with holiday sparkle
• A heroine you can’t help but root for
• Cozy Christmas magic, but make it witchy
• Emotional healing wrapped in tinsel and tension
Perfect for fans of:
• Found family & festive chaos
• Slow-burn magic and second chances
• Witchy rom coms with real heart

I LOVED this holiday season witch romance!
-Witches/Warlocks
-Spice
-Fake dating
-Second chance romance
-One bed!!
-Animal sidekicks
-Amnesia
This is THE perfect fall/holiday book to get you in the mood for the season! Banter, spice, romance, magic, family drama - I ate this one up!
Our FMC, Tia, is STUBBORN - but slowly Henry cracks that shell and their chemistry was chefs kiss! And the SPICE? GAHHH! The shocking twist at the end had me *GASPING*!
Highly recommend for any romance lovers, and especially with this upcoming holiday season - this is the perfect blend of witchy magic, romance & spice, and christmas time!

If you’ve ever wished your holiday rom-com came with memory-erasing potions, fake dating, and a dash of magical chaos—Season of the Witch delivers in spades. Sophie H. Morgan wraps up her Toil and Trouble series with a fiery, snow-dusted second-chance romance that’s equal parts cozy and combustible.
This book is a cinnamon roll stuffed with dynamite: warm, explosive, and impossible to put down. Whether you’re here for the holiday hijinks or the emotional healing, Tia and Henry’s story casts a spell that lingers long after the final page.
What I loved:
• Banter that crackles like a Yule log fire
• Forced proximity with a magical twist
• A heroine who’s all heart beneath her prickly shell
• Christmas vibes dialed up to eleven
• A slow-burning reconnection that’s tender, spicy, and deeply earned
🔮 Perfect for fans of:
• Enemies to lovers
• Witchy romance
• Found family and festive chaos
• Emotional depth with a side of steam
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC.

Season of the Witch was such a delightful surprise. It’s one of those books that just wraps you up in a warm hug while still keeping you hooked from start to finish. The vibe is cute, cozy, and just the right amount of magical without ever feeling over the top.
Tia completely stole my heart—she’s funny, charming, and so easy to root for. I loved following her journey and seeing how she handled everything that came her way. The banter, the atmosphere, and the little details of the world made it such a comforting read.
If you’re looking for something lighthearted but still engaging, this is exactly the kind of book you want to curl up with on a rainy afternoon. It left me smiling and already wishing for more.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC arc! 🫶🏻

Thank you NetGalley, Sophie Morgan, and Harlequinn for providing an audiobook copy. While I did like this book, it didn't quite grasped me.

Exs working together after not being in each others lives for a while? What could possibly happen? Throw one bed into the mix and watch the magic happen. This was such a fun, whimsical, and magical reading experience. I absolutely loved this! The banter and angst between Henry and Tia was amazing.

(4.5 Stars) Thank you, @HTP_Hive @htpbooks @htpbooks_audio and @harlequinbooks for the #gifted digital and audio copies!
Henry Pearlmatter was once Tia Hightower’s boyfriend. But that was eight years ago, and Tia has been avoiding and despising him in equal measure ever since - an attitude made all the more challenging when her two best friends are involved with his two closest friends. But now the Pearlmatter and Hightower family businesses are merging, and suddenly Tia is stuck working alongside her ex, competing against him for leadership, and pretending to be his girlfriend during a holiday getaway to woo a wealthy potential investor. Oh, and there’s only one bed. What could possibly go wrong?
I adore all three books in this series! The quirky, magical world full of political maneuvering, magical hierarchies, and intrigue is balanced with deep friendships, swoon-worthy romances, and tons of humor. I’d been anxiously awaiting Henry and Tia’s story because you could just tell it was going to be fantastic - and it absolutely did not disappoint. Henry and Tia push all of each other’s buttons, but they also begin to begrudgingly understand what went wrong the first time around. I definitely recommend reading these in order - and we’re about to embark on spooky season, so please put these on your TBR!
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Natalie Duke is back to narrate book three, and she does just as wonderful a job here giving unique voices to a wide variety of characters as she did in the first two books. (12h 28m)

The Season of the Witch is a deliciously witchy, second chance romance. I really enjoyed Tia and Henry. Their chemistry was so fun and I loved the little details about their trip. Tia struggles with uncovered information that I could very strongly relate to and Sophie H. Morgan portrayed the ups and downs perfectly. I hadn't read the first two books in the series but now I absolutely need to! The banter, the magic, the feelings - it's all the makings of a fantastic read!
Similarly, the audiobook narration was very well done. I was engrossed and thrown into the story. I particularly enjoyed Henry's southern drawl!
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Romance for an ARC of the audiobook!

Season of the Witch by Sophie H. Morgan gave me total The Traitors vibes with the tension-filled competition — only instead of battling for survival, Tia and Henry are battling for the top spot in a business deal Christmas style. Add in enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance, forced proximity, and a sprinkle of witchy Christmas magic, and you’ve got a festive, spooky-fairytale kind of read. Perfect for easing into the holly-jolly yet haunting season on the horizon!
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the setup — Tia and Henry’s rivalry paired with a spell-gone-wrong that forces them together was a fun twist. The rekindling of their old flame simmered and built nicely, and the magical elements added charm without overshadowing the romance.
That said, I did feel like the constant arguing between Tia and Henry dragged on a little too long. Their lack of emotional regulation and proper communication made me want to scream at times (it truly took the whole book for them to finally get it together). Still, once they did, the payoff was satisfying.
Overall, it’s a unique mix of romance, magic, and holiday vibes — I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I’d read the other two books in the series first. But if you’re looking for a witchy, enemies-to-lovers holiday romance with a touch of competition and second chances, this one fits the bill.

Tia Hightower, once a powerful witch, finds herself stuck fake-dating her ex, Henry Pearlmatter, at a winter house party to help their newly merged family businesses secure an investor. The problem? She accidentally erased Henry’s memories of their past.
Now Henry doesn’t remember their breakup, but he’s determined to figure out what went wrong between them. Pretending to be in love feels a little too real, and sharing close quarters only makes things harder. As Christmas magic, cozy nights, and old feelings resurface, Tia has to decide if she’s willing to risk her heart again—even with the man who once broke it.

The first two books in this series are some of my all-time favorite witchy reads, but this one missed the mark a bit for me. The first half was fantastic, and the last stretch really pulled me back in, but the middle felt rough—almost like filler with too much miscommunication. Normally I enjoy that trope, but with these two, it just came across as frustrating.
For most of the book, Leah came off more bratty than relatable, and I really missed the magical atmosphere that made the first two so special—you almost forget they’re witches at times. On the other hand, Henry’s reasoning for keeping his secret actually made sense to me. He was genuinely trying to understand where things went wrong, while Leah mostly complained and avoided taking accountability.
That said, I still enjoyed the book overall, mostly because I was already so invested in the series. The ending truly brought it back to life, and for that reason alone, I think it’s still worth the read.
I listened to all 3 of the books in this series and they are all done perfectly.
Thank you Harlequin Audio for the ARC

Oh yeah! Second chances with a dash of enemies to lovers and a sprinkling of high society snobbery twisted into a bit of fake dating make this plot perfectly delightful! I am absolutely loving this series and I do highly recommend that you read the series in order as each book builds the character backstory a bit more as well as helps you understand the society that the characters live in. The paranormal aspect just makes it even more fun! I mean who wouldn't want a guy to scorch the walls when kissing her! The spice level is divine, but the snark and wit are completely on point and will have you giggling as you read your way throughout the story! The author skillfully weaves a multitude of emotions through the story and highlights the feelings of inadequacy that we all often feel while making the characters strong and resourceful. I absolutely can't wait to come back for the next installment in the book. I am really hoping that Cole gets a story soon, but regardless of which character gets the spotlight in the next book I'll be first in line for it! You absolutely must read this if you want a fun time!
FYI: If you are an audiobook lover then this series needs to be on your must listen list as the narration is absolutely fabulous and will have you completely enthralled!

Thank you to @NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC! 🎧 This one releases Sept 2nd! just in time for your fall TBR.
This is the third book in a series, but don’t worry, it totally works as a standalone!
Think The Ex Hex vibes, but with a little Christmas sparkle ✨🎄. Honestly, you could pick this one up anytime from October through December for those cozy witchy feels. Cute overall, but not super memorable for me. And the “spice” was a little awkward. These two reasons are why I gave it a 3⭐️ rating.
The setup is fun though: Tia accidentally makes her ex/arch-nemesis drink a potion that erases every memory of her. Oops! But even without his memories, the spark between them is very much still alive. 🔥
Tropes you’ll find:
💞 Fake dating
🏠 Forced proximity
⚡ Enemies to lovers
If you want a light, witchy romcom to transition from spooky season into holiday season, this one fits the vibe!

Thank you to HTP for the ALC!
A Christmas witchy rom-com full of banter? Yes please. This book was such a fun mix of festive and magical.
I didn’t realize it was part of a series, but it read perfectly as a standalone. The characters were a blast to follow and the banter made me smile the whole way through. Tia and Henry had great chemistry and I loved watching them grow together. The romance was sweet, funny and full of charm.
The only thing that threw me off was the POV switches. There were no clear indicators at times, so I had to pause and figure out who was speaking. Once I caught on though, I was right back into the story. Overall, this was a cozy, witchy holiday rom-com that hit all the right notes.

Love a good lovers to enemies and back again trope. This one was fun, I laughed out loud a few times! I wasn't a huge fan of the inner dialogue towards the end, but still loved the ending. Perfect fall read if you are in the mood for a little more than a cozy witchy book.

Narrator: Natalie Duke
Season of the Witch is the 3rd book in the Toil and Trouble series. I did listen to the 2 previous books in the series. You could read Season of the Witch independently but would lack a lot of context.
Tia Hightower is 1/3, owner of the Chicago bar Toil and Trouble, with her 2 best friends. She's also a society Witch and a proficient alchemist for her family's company. A company that just merged with her ex-boyfriend, Henry Pearlmatter's, family's company.
After 8 years of avoiding Henry, Tia is forced to work with him to secure an investment. When tensions are at an all-time high between the two, an errant potion causes Henry to lose his memories of anything related to Tia- including how to use his magical talents. The only way to secure the investor, appease both sets of parents, and not lose her chances at running the company, Tia must pretend to date Henry and travel across the pond for a month full of holiday festivities at the high society warlock's (investor) estate.
Tia is the last of the Toil and Trouble girls to get her HEA, and this book did not disappoint. I enjoyed books 1 and 2 for different reasons, but this book was by far the spiciest and most fun, making this my favorite book in the series thus far. I enjoyed Henry's playfulness and witty banter. I loved Tia's strength and badassery. Their chemistry, banter, and tension were a lot of fun to listen to. I could not keep a poker face at some of the spicy scenes. While I would rate the fitst 2 books at a 2 🌶 on my spice scale. This book was definitely a 3 🌶 book.
I would love to see Cole get a HEA...possibly with Isabel?
The narrator did a fantastic job with this book. I really enjoyed both Henry and Tia's voices.

I gave this 3.5 stars. I didn’t realize when I requested it that it was the 3rd book in the series but that’s on me. I still enjoyed it, just took some time to figure out some things because you are thrown into the story and expected to know things. I also could tell some of the side characters were probably in the previous books and I didn’t know their backstories because of it. It’s a fake dating romcom. A witch accidentally erases her ex’s memories of why they hate each other and they begin fake dating to win over an investor at a holiday party. It was cozy, funny, romantic, and christmasy. It was fun! But definitely read the first two books first!
The narrator did an amazing job! Audio was very clear.
Thank you Harlequin audio and NetGalley!

Season of the Witch is a delightful witchy romance brimming with autumn charm, magical mischief, and just the right dose of slow-burn tension. The audiobook narration was lively and engaging, adding extra personality that pulled me further into the story and gave it that cozy-spooky edge.
While some parts leaned a little predictable, the overall atmosphere made this a fun seasonal listen — the kind of book that pairs perfectly with crisp fall weather, a warm drink, and a candle flickering in the background. It may not be my new all-time favorite, but it delivered the cozy magical vibes I was hoping for.
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5/5)
Disclosure: Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for providing a free audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Net Galley and Publishers for an opportunity to listen to this title before release date. Unfortunately this was not the story i was hoping for and did not finish.

✨ Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ALC of Season of the Witch by Sophie Morgan! ✨
3.5 ⭐️
This was such a fun and cute romance read! It’s book 3 in the series, and I didn’t read books 1 & 2 beforehand—which I think made it fall a little flat for me. Readers who have been with the series from the beginning will likely feel more connected to the characters and world, while I felt a bit thrown in (totally on me!).
That said, I really enjoyed the banter, sass, and emotions woven into this story. It had just the right sprinkle of Christmas and holiday magic—festive without being too over the top. 🎄✨
I’m also realizing how much I love romance books that add a twist, and this one definitely delivered on that! Plus, if you love spice in your romances, this book is absolutely for you. 🔥
A perfect read to pick up in November or December to get into the holiday mood! 🎁💫

Amnesia, But Make It Spicy: A Witch, a Warlock, and One Very Inconvenient Bed
I would fake-date my ex too if he looked like Henry Pearlmatter and had mysteriously forgotten all the reasons I hate him. Especially if it meant spending Christmas in a countryside manor with free mulled wine and a hot tub. But that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Just like Tia Hightower’s little potion mishap wasn’t a great idea. You know. The one where she accidentally scrubbed herself out of Henry’s memory. WHOOPS.
Now they’re stuck pretending to be back together to win over an investor at a holiday house party straight out of a Hallmark fever dream, and all I can say is this: grab a peppermint schnapps, babe, because these two are about to combust like a yule log doused in moonshine.
Here’s the deal: I went into "Season of the Witch" not realizing it was book three in the "Toil and Trouble" series, and I felt it. I caught on, sure, but every time a side character dropped a knowing smirk or a casual backstory bomb, I could feel my FOMO clawing up my spine. This book assumes you already love Tia and her fire-breathing rage issues, and I was still in the “ma’am, why are you like this?” phase for at least five chapters.
That said...Tia is deliciously messy. Like, if love is a battlefield, this girl is out there with a flame thrower and a dramatic hair toss. And Henry? Pre-amnesia Henry was probably "The Worst," but post-mind-wipe Henry is giving major golden retriever energy with a side of smug warlock charm. He doesn’t remember being a dumbass, so he’s just out here flirting and building snowmen and being super emotionally available, which is obviously infuriating to Tia and unreasonably sexy to the rest of us.
Their dynamic is pure enemies-to-lovers-to-exes-to-what-are-we-now chaos. The fake dating tension is glorious. The forced proximity trope delivers exactly what it promises, complete with cozy British village vibes, meddling old people, and only one bed. Do they share it? Of course. Do they share it? Also yes. The spice is medium-hot, but the emotional tension? Absolutely scorched earth.
Also: the audiobook narrator, Natalie Duke? She understood the assignment. The sass, the longing, the sheer absurdity of being snowed in with a sexy man who technically doesn’t know you dumped him via magical memory sabotage? She nailed it.
Now. This isn’t a Christmas book in the “Santa is coming to town” sense, but it is absolutely drowning in garlands, snowstorms, and emotionally charged holiday toasts. And while I wasn’t always totally sold on Tia’s inner logic (girl, therapy is real), I was sold on the found family energy, the ridiculous banter, and the slow burn of Henry falling in love with her twice.
I do think this would’ve landed harder if I’d read books one and two, because there’s clearly baggage I didn’t unpack with them. But even so, this is a charming, spicy little witchmas romcom with enough bite to keep things interesting.
Final vibe? 3.5 stars and a solid “that was fun” energy.
