I have really liked this series and this is no exception! Loved Tia's development in this book, but Henry showed real growth!

3.25 to 3.50 stars

This is a cozy, witchy second-chance romance with a touch of forced proximity. Tia and Henry once dated, but now they’re thrown back together to fake a relationship in order to secure a business deal that could save both of their powerful, high-society families (think royalty-level prestige). The twist? Henry has amnesia and doesn’t remember their shared past—or the heartbreak he left behind.

Their chemistry reignites instantly, but Tia is determined to resist. She's been burned before, and she knows better than to trust him again—especially when her own family prioritizes reputation over her happiness. Thankfully, Tia has built a tight-knit found family of her own for support.

As old secrets start to unravel, their fake relationship begins to feel real... but can they overcome the pain of the past and the expectations of their world?

It’s a sweet, cozy, magical read. The audiobook narration was decent, though having multiple voice actors would’ve brought the story to life even more.

Take a southern debutant (think American Bridgerton) and throw in some witchy magic and romance then BAM you have this book. This is part of a series but can totally be read as a standalone. Holiday, witchy vibes. Second chance romance. So much chemistry between the FMC and MMC. Found family. Sexy and sassy banter. This book is so fun, and will really put you in the mood for the holidays.

The narrator did an amazing job, but I definitely wish there was a male voice for our favorite MMC warlock.

love the witchy vibes. I love these characters! All the banter, spell craft, and the chemistry is everything I could ever ask for! Tia and Henry might be my favorite of all the couples in this series! If you love a witchy, cozy romance this book is for you! The narrator does an amazing job narrating for all the characters.

Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Audio and Harlequin for the ALC and ARC

I was lucky enough to get both the ARC and ALC, and being able to do an immersion read made this a lot of fun. Natalie Duke did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life and making each one distinctive. This book had some of my favorite tropes: lovers-enemies-lovers, fake dating, second chance romance, and two stubborn relatable main characters who have built up so many walls to protect themselves from getting hurt again. Sophie Morgan does an amazing job writing how lonely it can be when you don’t feel you’ll ever be enough, and just want someone to fight for and alongside you, not against. The growth both Tia and Henry go through is both a little heartbreaking, yet also beautiful. I believe this is the last in this series, but I would love to come back to this world if the author writes more.

Sophie Morgan’s Season of the Witch is a wickedly fun blend of magic, seduction, and danger that pulls you in like a spell you want to be caught under. Our heroine steps into a world of power and temptation, where every choice feels like it could make her or break her—and every character seems just a little too charming to trust.

The magic system is intriguing without being overwhelming, the pacing stays tight, and the romance crackles with a dark, addictive edge. Morgan doesn’t shy away from moral gray areas, so if you like your witches a little wild and your lovers a little dangerous, this book is your potion of choice.

I overall enjoyed this book. It has fake dating, one bed, and banter. I love how it blended in my two favorite holidays: Halloween (witches) and Christmas. It reminded me a bit of How My Neighbor Stole Christmas because of the Christmas activity aspect. And I loooooved how it took place in England. I will say I did end up a bit bored. And I wish there was a male narrator. The narrator did a good male voice but sometimes when the POV changed it took me some time to realize it wasn’t the FMC POV. It is the third book in an interconnected standalone series but you don’t need to read the previous books to understand what’s going on.

This was the witchy Christmas rom-com I didn’t know I needed. It’s the third book in her Toil and Trouble series (of which the other two I have not read yet) and it turned it to be a spicy, festive enemies-to-lovers/second-chance romance with a magical amnesia twist.

Tia Hightower, a once-powerful witch, must fake-date her ex, Henry Pearlmatter, at a holiday gathering to win over a wealthy warlock investor. Unfortunately, a potion mishap erases Henry’s memory of her, forcing them to rediscover each other under snow-dusted, mistletoe-laden tension.

We have :
— witty banter
— sizzling enemies-to-lovers tension
— flawed characters
— second-chance romance
— flamboyant chemistry
— festive magic
— tons of spice
— deeply rooted emotional stakes.

Tia’s stubborn streak had me alternately rooting for her and wanting to hex her—but the miscommunication and prickliness ultimately fuel the growth between her and Henry. The plot line somewhat lags in the middle but there was a fun twist thrown in at the end that was unexpected.

🎧 The narration by Natalie Duke was superb. She did well with the banter and multiple characters with different accents.

Overall, Season of the Witch is an addictive, witchy rom-com that delivers all the cozy holiday charm you’d expect.

Can be read as a standalone in the series. Fake dating, amnesia, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, only one bed, witchy business, and spice!

This is the third book of Morgan's Toil and Trouble series and it’s a spicy Christmas romance featuring witches. It could work as a standalone but this book wraps up some of the other characters’ storylines so I’d recommend reading the others.

The audio book was narrated by Natalie Duke and I think she does a great job. She's so easy to listen to and does a great job with the male voices. The narration pace is a little bit slow but I think that lends to the cozy vibes (and you can always speed it up if you want to).

There are so many good tropes featured (enemies to lovers, second chance romance, forced proximity, fake dating, etc etc.) that there’s something for everyone. There’s also A+ banter and the magic feels realistic.

Tia might be viewed as harsh, but as the story progressed, you see why she built the walls she did to protect herself. Meanwhile, *this* version of Henry appears to be a golden retriever, at least until their past is discussed and you get a full picture. As it turns out, he’s just as stubborn as she is.

As they spend time together, Tia can’t help but soften her prickly exterior as this Henry reminds her of the one she fell in love with. With only one bed in a romantic setting, it gets harder for them to fake it when their old feelings surface. And honest, Christmas in a small town in England sounds magical and romantic (it gave me The Holiday vibes) so I don’t think either of them had a chance. 😂

At the end of the day, Tia has to decide if she’s willing to put herself out there and trust others. It was rewarding watching her realize that she had of the support she did, especially via her found family. People show up for her which I really this is a testament to her being a good person.

This was my favorite book in the series thus far. I felt the characters were a bit more flushed out than the previous books, which were definitely fun but the angst of two very flawed ex-lovers still deeply in love but also not able to get passed their own shit, had a lot more weight. I am hoping that the next book is Cole and Isabelle!

4.5 Stars ⭐️ Tia and Henry use to date, but they broke up years earlier. Her family wants her to marry him, because their family companies merged. An investor wanted Tia and Henry to go to a house party in England after the investor caught them kissing. It is money that their company needs. The problem, Tia accidentally wiped Henry’s memories of her before the invite. They fake date while they are in England, which brings up the romantic feelings that both buried deep. I loved the holiday vibes with all of the magical witchy elements. The plot was fun, especially with Henry’s accidental amnesia! The romance was angsty, but Tia and Henry needed to learn how to communicate with each other! That was where all of the conflict came from, but it didn’t get annoying. The audiobook was a lot of fun! Between the snowy, chestnuts roasting vibes mixed with a well developed world, and Natalie Duke’s narration made for an entertaining listen!

Season of the Witch is the 3rd book in the Toil & Trouble series. Why you should read Tia and Henry’s story:
🎄Amnesia
🔮Witches/Warlocks
🎄Second Chance
🔮One Bed
🎄Holiday Vibes
🔮Fake Dating
🎄Contemporary English House Party
🔮It’s Always Been You Vibes

Thank you to Harlequin and Netgalley for an ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A cozy, magical second-chance romance that absolutely charmed me!

Tia and Henry’s story is full of heart, heat, and holiday magic. I loved the fake dating twist—especially with the added complication of Tia accidentally erasing Henry’s memories of their past. Their chemistry sizzled, their banter sparkled, and the emotional depth gave me all the feels.

The winter house party setting, the mulled-wine kisses, the magical mishaps—it was all so atmospheric and romantic. Tia is a strong, relatable heroine, and Henry’s quiet determination to reconnect—even without his memories—completely melted me.

Natalie Duke’s narration brought the story to life beautifully. This is easily my favorite of the Toil and Trouble series so far. A perfect pick for anyone who loves witchy romances, second chances, and a little Christmas enchantment.

Your next cute and cozy holiday read with plenty of banter, tension, and spice!

Second chance
Fake dating
One bed

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love the fake dating trope, and this was incredible. Fake dating your ex with an amnesia twist? I was hooked. There was a small miscommunication trope, but the friends stepped in to nip it in the bud. I liked all of the characters and the MMC’s growth throughout the book. All I want to do now is disappear to a small city in England for a month around Christmas.

I received an advanced audiobook, and the narrator did an excellent job. The narrator did especially well with the male voices. I’ll definitely read another book she narrates.

I love books in which the characters go through personal development so this was absolutely perfect. This is classic enemies to lovers with forced proximity. I have to add that I love love love Isabella’s character! I hope we get to read about her finding love next! Overall excellent writing and a fun read!

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

This was an adorable second chance romance. I loved the tension between tia and Henry. I felt like it was so fun to start but once Henry lost his memory it did get a little slow. Overall it was cute fun and a good time.

Thank you Harlequin audio and NetGalley for allowing me the ability to listen and review this book! Honestly I was not sure how I was gonna feel about this book, since I normally do not read any type of fantasy books including witches or anything like that but I am so pleasantly surprised and really liked this book! 5/5 stars and the narrators were fantastic, they really added to such a fantastic story! This really was a fun, interesting and light read/listen. I was sad at parts for both FMC and MMC but also laughing out loud at parts and grinning from ear to ear from pure happiness for all the characters! If you’re not sure about getting into fantasy but love romance, I really recommend this book because it’s only a little dip into the fantasy pool but absolutely worth the read!!!

Season of the Witch by Sophie H Morgan is the final book of her Toil and Trouble series! The series follows a trio of besties as they find love. SotW is about Tia, the prickly friend who is fiercely loyal and not afraid to fight.

This book was SO GOOD. I love Sophie’s writing as a rule and this book just scratched all of my itches. Amazing banter! A good enemies to lovers! Christmas overload! Magical shenanigans! An amazing twist near the end that I didn’t see coming! It can’t get any better than that for me!

I read the book on my kindle first then decided to reread via the audiobook. Natalie Duke did SUCH a great job narrating this! Her inflections, her character voices and her enthusiasm for the story really heightened my enjoyment of the book!

I cannot recommend this book enough to people who love magic, second chance romance and Christmas explosions!

Thank you to Netgalley, Harlequin and especially Sophie for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest review! 💖

Despite the title, this holiday romance takes place during the Christmas season, and features, and on again off again love affair between two people, one of whom is a witch who may just have accidentally created a spell that caused her lover to forget who she was. Fun and witty.

4.5⭐️

I really enjoy this her all!! I actually thought it was going to be a 5⭐️ read for 60% of the book but it unfortunately fell off a bit as far as keeping my attention but thankfully it rebounded at about the 85% mark. Bit it completely deserved to be rounded up for Goodreads!

What I enjoyed the most was the wittiness! And the banter between the FMC Tia and the MMC Henry and sometimes witty banter! I really appreciated that it didn’t fall victim to using the miscommunication trope for a third act break up. The author really utilized the plot she laid out and used it to full advantage to create the turmoil needed.

This is Book 3 in a series of interconnected stand-alone books which each focus on a friend group and their journeys falling in love. While the bulk of the book doesn’t have the other friends in it expect with the occasional phone call or text, I really enjoyed the parts with them in it. It makes me want a book that just explores the antics of all three of them as it is a strength and exemplifies “found family”. I have not read the other two on the series but after reading this I plan to asap. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by jumping in on book 3.

While it was an urban fantasy you really felt like all the magic was completely natural and real. I want to live in the world that the author created! Both because I think k it would be really fun but also so I could theoretically slap Tia to make her think a bit differently and not reality to threats every time she is ticked off, which is often.

I also really enjoyed that I consumed this in audiobook format as it really allowed me to immerse myself in it. It was narrated by Natalie Duke and she did a good job overall but did speak much too slowly for my liking. I know I mention the speed a lot and yes we have the ability to change the rate but changing that rate does impact more than the speed.

In this case to get full enjoyment so suggest at least 1.25x speed. It allows the banter and witty lines to be zippy and adds to their impact. However. I consumed it at 2x speed for the vast majority. At that speed it was swift but very understandable, even to my husband who is not one who likes to speed up audiobooks. It does make the pitch of Ms Dukes voice go up but I think it actually adds to the experience in a positive way.

Other than the speed, all the characters had distinctive voices which were consistent throughout. She particularly did well with the male vocals which can be challenging.

This comes out September 2nd 2025 in perfect timing for cozy fall reading!!

I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary audio ALC from Harlequin Audio through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.

My general rating system is below. Since I primarily read ARC books I rate according to how I think like minded readers will receive the book. I will round up or down depending on many factors and try not to let my personal wants affect a books ratings.

⭐️ Hated It but pushed through as I don’t DNF ARCs I have received.
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, content issues, poorly edited.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but it had something that stopped me from rounding up. Usually the book may have much more potential than what was given. I recommend it but with reservations.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I Really enjoyed it or think others will. These are solid reads that I definitely would recommend for a variety of reasons.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! These are books that remain rent free in my head for well after unfinished the book. It can be for a variety of reasons from being very well written or just the vibes that captured my mind. These books are also ones I would probably read again
