I just couldn’t get into this book. I pushed through and read more than I really wanted to in the hopes that it got better, but it didn’t.

The storyline up until that point fell flat and was very one note. The internal monologue from Gem was too much, I wish that more of the story was discussed or those words were used to help build up the characters into more dynamic people. Neither of these characters felt genuine, which made it impossible to form a connection with.

The two things though that made this book extremely hard to get into was the lack of American language and how the insta-love took place. First, this story from the beginning emphasizes how Gem and Logan are American, yet they use very un-American language just as prick, lift, brilliant, and colour. If you’re going to blame how crass and straightforward they are on being American, then have them use American terms. Secondly, the insta-love fell flat and unrealistic. After spending 3hrs together Gem is already throwing around the LOVE word, yet at that point they’ve done little more than hold hands and kiss on the cheek. There was nothing in the story to back up the feelings or anything more than a “spark” as they touched hands. When it boils down to it, this story told about feeling or thoughts instead of building scenes to really SHOW how those thoughts or feelings occurred.

**I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion**
