Cliffhanger! Please make sure you have the entire trilogy before beginning this book. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

The cover was misleading. It did not indicate “Young Adult” to me at all. There was not a castle made of glass within the story. Maybe I missed whatever analogy this meant as I was reading?

Inconsistencies, exaggeration, clichés, and immaturity popped up regularly in this one. The most significant thing that did not make sense to me was that the kids could make so much noise without anyone detecting their presence in the castle.

All that being said, the plot and characters (those who weren’t clichés) were intriguing. This was a really quick read, as each chapter left me wanting to uncover more secrets. The creativity was pretty high in this book despite many clichés. Some things kept me guessing throughout, which was fun.

I really liked that this book was clean, with no bad language, crudity, or other vile things. Well done, authors!

Since the final chapter left more questions than answers, I’m hoping to be able to read the next two books in the trilogy soon. I really need to find out what happens to these characters! (But don’t tell me!)

A very good read; really good plot, great characterization and very strong concept with beautiful backdrops and settings.

I thought this was a great YA read by Trisha White Priebe and Jerry B Jenkins. I have been a fan of Jerry B Jenkins for forever so I was glad to see him writing a YA series now. This is the first book in the Thirteen series.

Avery goes out on her thirteenth birthday with her brother and is abducted by a scary old woman. When Avery wakes up in a room with other thirteen year olds, she is worried about her brother and what they have done with him. Avery is told that any attempt made to escape will result in his brother getting hurt.

The king is about to die and is looking for an heir to take his place. There is a woman that will do anything to marry him and she is the one responsible for having all the thirteen year old in the town rounded up. The king and his first wife apparently had a child together but he was told that they both died in childbirth. The new queen does not believe that the child is dead so she is determined to find the king's child.

This is a great read for young readers. It is also a very good start to a great series. There are lots of unanswered questions that the authors leave us with at the end of this book but I am sure it is just setting everything up for the next book in the series. Great read!

So, thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the back of the book description was deceptive and didn't actually represent what the book was about. Other then that I loved the book. The characters were really developed and interesting.

I loved the plot line. The book was enthralling, I was fully engrossed until the end. I loved that this was a Christian book. That even though the characters are going through an enormously hard time they still go to church, they still pray, and they still depend on god.

The writing is really amazing. Complex but easy to read. I really appreciate finding a YA novel that doesn't have cussing. It sometimes makes me uncomfortable. I know that when I read this series that there wont be any cussing of sexual relationships. This book series is really one in a million, a rare gem in the sea of inappropriate books.

This is a fantastic book series and I can't wait for the next book.
