I really liked the previous book in the series, Six Train to Wisconsin, and so jumped at the chance to review Highway Thirteen to Manhattan. It's still good, but the pace is slower in parts. The character development is excellent and the plot is gripping.

Thanks to Kourtney Heintz and Aurea Blue Press for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I'm sorry I was not able to read and review this book before it was archived due to serious health issues.

A pretty easy read with some great characters and mystery, I really enjoyed this book more than I was expecting when I started reading it. This is the second book so recommend checking out the first and joining the Heintz bandwagon.

Unfortunately this book was a DNF for me and I hate that but unfortunately it happens every once in a while.

I am sorry to say that I didn't get a chance to read this title before it expired from my e-reader. :(

The second book of The Six Train to Wisconsin series by Kourtney Heintz could also be an interesting paranormal romantic criminal mystery, but if in first book I was irked by the immature whining, then in the second book there are even more things to roll your eyes about. Kai’s parents, new characters with paranormal abilities, baffling reasons for revenge or preparing for revenge. One thing was absolutely new to me, since I have never before read a story where a loving couple who has problems at the beginning does not end up together at the end, but this is a first one, not sure I understood the reasons for this split, but that’s how it ended.

So this could once again have been an interesting story, but there was too much contradictions, new information that didn’t really fit the story and too many jumps in story without explanations how did we get there already.

I did not like the first book, so I don't think I will enjoy this one either. Thank you though.

Kai is recovering from being kidnapped. As her body is healing, she feels that her mind is going into a dark area. Her telepathic powers are changing. She has discovered that she can use them as a weapon, because of the darkness. Her husnand, Oliver is desperately trying to save their marriage. As he finds that his wife is slipping away from him, he starts zeroing in on the man who has ruined his life. He doesn't know how he will live without her. Meanwhile Kai is trying to find out who she really is. She is surprised to find this darkness within her.

This novel is about love and how it survives or doesn't survive especially when one person has telepathic powers. It is a painful love story. I did find the novel to be very good in that it held my interest. At times, the author surprised me wth how the plot travels throughout it. If you have read the first novel, this is. Definite must read to find out what happens.

These two main characters drive me nuts! I can't bring myself to like wither one of them for their actions. But I cannot stop reading them. The mystery of what was going on with Caleb and with Kai held me enthralled. I will definitely read more in this series, as I assume there is at least a third book.

I had the chance to read an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I bought the first book of the series when I got accepted on Netgalley to read this one. I devoured the first book. I liked this one, a little less than the first, but can't wait to read the next one anyways ;-)

The author knows how to captivate the reader. Thank God my ereader has a light... I read the book instead of sleeping!

A really good book!

His secrets almost killed her. Her secrets may destroy them both.

Kai is recovering from a near-death experience when she realizes something isn’t right. Her body is healing, but her mind no longer feels quite like her own. Her telepathic powers are changing, too. She can’t trust herself. The darkness growing inside of her pushes her to use her telepathy as a weapon.

Oliver clings to the hope that he can save their marriage, even though he was the one who put her life in jeopardy. As his wife slips further and further away from him, he becomes increasingly obsessed with bringing the man who ruined his life to justice.

The sequel to The Six Train to Wisconsin is a genre-defying tale of love and consequences. Once again, award-winning author Kourtney Heintz seamlessly weaves suspense and paranormal intrigue into a real-world setting, creating characters rich in emotional and psychological complexity.

I have to make a confession. I applied for this book because of the cover. I have not read the first of the series and I felt I should make it clear now because that will affect my review,

Keeping the above in mind, I did enjoy the book. The plot was well thought out, the characters somewhat likeable. I do feel if I ever want to read it again, I will need to read the first to thoroughly get to grips with some of the key stuff I have missed.

For this reason, I don't feel I can give a proper review other than to say it was good.

I'll give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
