A Killer Location: A Home Sweet Home Mystery Book – 2 by Sarah T Hobart

186 Pages
Publisher: Random House Publishing Group – Alibi, Alibi
Release Date: November 22, 2016

Fiction, Murder Mystery, Cozy Mystery, Amateur Detective

Sam Turner is a real estate agent. Just before her first open house, her sister Stacy appears on her doorstep with her foot in a cast. She will be staying for the foreseeable future in Sam’s guest cottage. Things are going to get interesting considering Sam is dating Bernie Aguilar, the local police chief, and Stacy’s ex.

At the open house, everything goes wrong. The unruly neighbor come over complaining about the overhanging tree branches and stops up the toilet. A young couple who appears to adore the house, robs it. A woman with a so-called service dog allows him to run rampant around the house while he relieves himself on everything, chews the sofa, and leaves muddy pawprints on the spotless white carpet. The finger in the freezer and dead body in the yard finishes her day.

The book has a steady pace, the characters are somewhat developed, and it is written in third person point of view. This is a cute cozy who dun it like Diane Mott Davidson’s Goldy Bear and M.C. Beaton’s Agatha Raisin. If you like amateur detective cozy books, you will enjoy reading this one.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot and storyline were interesting, and the characters likable. There were a few parts that were a little predictable, but it didn't take away from the story.

This is a quickly read cozy mystery. The twists and turns will keep you guessing. The characters are well written and are almost like old friends. Throw in a dash of humor and this book is awesome. Even though it is second in a series, it works well as a stand alone.

Sam Turner is  real estate agent in the small town of Arlinda, in Northern California. She is in a new relationship with the town's police chief, Bernie Aguilar.
Now her life is complicated by a visit from her sister Stacy, who arrives with a broken ankle. You see, Bernie happens to be Stacy's ex-husband.
Sam agrees to host an open house for her boss, Everett, in an upscale neighborhood. It turns out to be the worst ever, culminating in the discovery of a body, who turns out to be Everett's ex-wife.
A delightful cozy mystery.

I couldn’t miss giving a shout out to this fun cozy mystery that I picked up through Net Galley. Though part of a series, this is a stand-alone title. It was hysterical in parts – the protagonist reminded me a bit of Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Malone: definitely not perfect, but all the more likable because she isn’t perfect.
This mystery was well-plotted and well-paced and I would definitely look for more titles in this series.
Thank you for my review e-copy!

This was the second in a series which I hadn't realised so I missed the connection with all of the characters so I will go back and read the first one. I loved Sam's character and made me laugh out loud. I will look out for the next one in the series as I'm intrigued where it will lead to.

This is a delightful cozy mystery series. In this second in series our intrepid protagonist Sam Turner is involved in another murder and discovering clues at every turn. As she host a real estate event she discovers a finger that leads to a body and her boss falls under suspicion. Afraid for her employer she is determined to discover the murderer before she is out of a job. I enjoy these mysteries as they have enjoyable characters and fun fast pace to the sleuth. Well Done to the author and I look forward to the next in series.

This is a classic cozy with an intrepid heroine in Sam. This can easily be read as a standalone so don't worry if you didn't read the first one. It's breezy and a page turner. Hobart has a good sense of when humor is appropriate - it lightens the tone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I felt that the last book was missing a lot. In my eyes she made up does it in this one! I feel more connected to the characters this time around. After I finished, it sure made me realize why I like cozy mysteries so much! I am really starting to like Sam and I can't wait to see where her and Bernie's relationship goes. I do feel terrible for Sam at the same time. She just has the worst luck!

This was a low key murder, mystery, interesting and quite amusing in parts. There were some good characters that interacted well within the story. The story was fast moving and a quick read.

Whoever said the real estate business could be murder must have visited the town of Arlinda. Fledgling agent Sam has her hands full when the bodies start stacking up, all somehow connected to an open house she hosted. When her boss is arrested for the murders and the license for the agency is temporarily pulled, Sam decides to use her time to do an investigation of her own. Along the way she meets a host of quirky characters and finds herself covered in dog hair.

I found this mystery to be a lot of fun. Sam is feisty and determined. Her slightly offbeat take on things makes her quite charming. I also really enjoyed the way that the author was able to capture the uniqueness of the Northern California community. Finally, the storyline had some really captivating twists and turns. This book is the second one in the series but there was enough backstory that the book works well on its own. “A Killer Location” is a great choice for mystery lovers!

This was fun. It's also pretty complicated for a cozy mystery. I was listening to it in my car (kindle text to speech is my friend) and I found the ending a little hard to follow. Otherwise, this was quite enjoyable and if cozy mysteries are your thing, this is definitely for you.

Samantha “ Sam “ Turner. Sam lives in Arlinda,
California. Sam, her son Max plus their cat,
Harley have moved into their new home.
Sam works for the Home Sweet Home Reality
as an agent. Things are looking up for Sam,
when her boss assigns her to present a home
at an open house. The house is a beauty located
in the elite section of Arlinda. A house to die for!!!
The open house turns into a comedy of errors.
Sam discovers a woman's cut off finger with a
ring on it in the freezer. Why was the finger in
the freezer? Sam notifies the police.
Before the police arrive, a prospective client
arrives with her dog. While looking over the
landscape, the dog starts digging frantically
in the mulch pulling something out. It is the
body of a dead woman.
Could things get more complicated in her life?
How about finding another dead body!!!!
The story is fast moving with vivid descriptions
of the various parts of town.
All the characters are well-defined, wacky and
quirky making a good supporting cast to the
feisty, adventurous and well created main character.
Besides Harley, the cat, there are three dogs, a
rooster and chickens that add color to the story.
Good cozy mystery with suspense, a well crafted
and engaging plot plus thrills and chills with
unexpected twists. Mix in humor and some romance
that makes this a good book to read.
I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks to Alibi via
Net Gallery for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.

A Killer Location is even better than Her first book in the series, Death at a Fixer Upper, which I also liked alot. Her devotion to her boss as he is arrested for murdering his ex-wife may be based on goodness or the need for a pay check. Sam puts together pieces of the puzzle as the body counts climb. Who donit...I did not guess right.

Sam's sister shows up at her door. Now Sam is faced with having to tell her about her own love life...she's dating Stacy's ex-husband Bernie. What's a girl to do?

A great second book in the series. This was a very quick read and kept me interested the entire time. I will continue with this series. I like the characters and the plot doesn't feel forced.

This is the second book in the Home Sweet Home series. We are once again following along with the happenings of Sam as she settles in to her career as a real estate agent as other aspects in her life are moving along nicely. Of course the biggest upset is murder being discovered during Sam's big break of an open house in an upscale neighborhood.
The characters in this book were well written and developed. The story line and conflict very well staged and definitely a good book to curl up with on a lay day. If you are searching for a good cozy mystery, look no further.

I really liked the characters in this book. Believable and not overdone. Nice story, too, but I must admit getting confused a couple of times. There are a lot of minor characters so hard to keep track. I enjoyed the book and will read more from this author

The plot was good and the characters interesting and well developed. The book is full of humor, with plenty of suspects, twists and turns, red herrings, and misdirection to keep you guessing.
Sam Turner feels more secure as a real estate agent. Her boss seems to think well of her. When he assigns her an open house in the most exclusive neighborhood, she thinks she's arrived. She evens dreams of selling the house during the open house, although Sweet says no one in the agency has been able to do that.

Everyone seems to want a "killer location", except when it is really a killer. Sam is back, and I liked her in the first book. I liked her more in this one. Clients, open houses, and dead bodies. Real Estate is never going to be the same again.

Full of fun, excitement, murder and mystery, this book is one I enjoyed. It's a fun series to read. My copy came from Net Galley. I have left a review because I wanted to. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
