Alice & Jean by Lily Hammond

True love can happen anytime, anywhere and between any two people. I loved this story!

I loved:
* The setting: a small town in New Zealand
* The time period: 1946 just after the Second World War has ended
* The lovers: Alice - widow and mother of two & Jean – a woman able to do a man’s job better than most men.
* The children: Jack who is the man of the house at age 8 and Tilly at 3 who is a sweet child
* The community: who were friends who supported Alice & Jean
* The love story: honest, tender and true
* The conclusion: a perfect HEA
* The memories: that took me back to delivering milk with my uncle and also of wedding photos of my parents wedding taken after WWII with dad in his uniform
* All of it – except the two in town that were despicable…

I am thankful to NetGalley and Sapphica Books for the copy of this delightful novel. This is a new author to me and one I will look for in the future. This is my honest review.

Loved it! Couldn't put it down, especially in the first part when Alice and Jean like each others but still nothing has happened. A book you hope it ends well because you get connected with the characters. Hope to read more by this author.
