Taming the Texas Cowboy was a great read! This sweet story introduces us to Maddie and Trey’s and lets us be a part of their wonderful journey. Set on a ranch this is one I thoroughly enjoyed and would read again

This is my first book by the author and its a start of a new series. It was okay. I read it entirely and while I didn't love it, I also didn't hate it I felt it really was not anything special. Its a storyline that has been done before and at times it got tedious with all of Trey's denials.

The book opens up with an I do, Trey and Maddie go into business together. She is a vet with a practice that burned down in their small ranching town;. He has a ranch and extra rooms and so she moves in and builds her practice at the ranch.

Maddie has had a thing for Trey since day one. He has liked her but he believes he is cursed romantically. So he fight feeling anything for Maddie until the last moments of this story. I am not a fan of this. I get that he was afraid and he wanted to protect her from him but I wanted romance and not a story about a guy not wanting anything more.

This story is on the tame side. They kiss alot and there is one major sex scene but Trey is always hurting Maddie and she seemed to always come back for more. It was an okay story. If you like a guy fighting it to the last second well you might enjoy this story. I tend to really like seeing two people mesh their lives and the closeness that developes and this story ends as Trey finally decides ge wants Maddie.

A fantastic romantic story. This book has lots of chemistry between the characters. I fell in love with the characters from the first page. This is not a long story but definitely has a lot packed into it. The characters helped move the story along. I cant wait for more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

Taming the Texas Cowboy is an enjoyable sweet read that is very well written with great characters and an interesting storyline. Maddie Brooks finds herself without a home or an office for her veterinarian operation. That is until Trey Walker comes to her rescue. What will happen when these two are around each other every day?? Trey has resisted her for over a year but this situation might be to much even for his iron will.

I definitely recommend this one.

A sweet and romantic western that had surprisingly a lot of depth to it. It wasn't the typical western romance, it had so much heart to it that the characters stole mine. The imagery the author created through her carefully crafted words was short of a amazing. In my minds eye, I could visualize the story and its characters as it unfolded.

I look forward to the next book in the series that I suspect involves Jack, Trey's cousin and good natured Sheriff.

This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I've never read this author before -- I'm impressed. Sands wove together a sweet story of two people who like each other and eventually love each other. I usually enjoy the "friends to lovers" stories and this one is done well. These are two people who I would enjoy knowing in real life: they care for their community, about other people, and best of all...no one is a jerk like in so many stories. I recommend without reservation.

I don’t know what it is about cowboys, but I just have this fantasy about rugged cowboys. Maybe it’s the southern manners or the fact that they have on boots and ten gallon hats, but whenever I see a cowboy romance story I jump for joy to read it. Well enough about my cowboy fantasies, let me tell you about this book that I read in..wait for it…3 hours non-stop. I could not put this book down. That is how much I loved this book. Keep in mind that I have three children in the house and still nothing could stop me from reading this book. This book is about a sexy, hot cowboy and a veterinarian, who loses her practice in a fire. Needing a place to run her practice temporarily, Maddie rents a space at Trey's, sexy cowboy I mentioned earlier, ranch. The sparks goes haywire and the attraction between Maddie and the sexy cowboy is evident. I wanted to smack Trey at the back of the head for thinking that he was cursed. It was ridiculous.

This story had everything that I was looking for in a cowboy romance story. A hot cowboy, of course, some heat, intensity, and a strong female character. Maddie was a sweet, kind soul and I loved how the author wrote this book because you tell that Maddie really loved animals and the connection between Maddie and a stallion named Storm was beautiful. Storm was like a metaphor for Trey and I loved how the author presented the idea. I was rooting for them throughout the entire story. The pacing was good and I really appreciated the author not throwing the "Oh im on the pill and im clean. Let's have unprotected sex". That is a huge pet peeve of mine because it is used so often and they also have to come to come up with an excuse to have unprotected sex.

Okay..now let me wrap up this review because I have yet another cowboy book to ride into…Get it..? Ride? Anyways, I loved this book and I recommend it with five sexy, hot cowboy Stars.

2.5 stars
You’d have to believe in the premise of the genetic curse threatening the hero to fully enjoy this book and since for me it’s not strong/convincing enough in fictional terms I wasn’t moved by this story.
The characters are nice enough, there’s some attraction and pushing away, some “incredible sex” involving the “unreadable hero” who is a “man’s man” with a “granite chest” and sometimes a “granite erection”, an inexperienced heroine who has, nevertheless, “female intuition” and knows that the hero wants her despite his resistance. There’s also a stallion and a mare that seem to remotely evoke the romantic couple quest. (Quotes from ARC)
Even with a lot of elements that I usually enjoy – a veterinarian, an emotionally wounded hero, ranch life, animals – I couldn’t connect neither with the story nor the characters and I found that the author spent too much time explaining the characters thoughts and feelings. Still, others might enjoy this story.

Taming the Texas Cowboy is Trey and Maddie’s story and definitely an emotionally charged read; with misplaced self-doubt, compelling attraction and a soul deep connection that no amount of resistance or denial will extinguish.

Finding a new author is always exciting, but even more so when the story is so seamlessly written and tugs at the heartstrings from the very first chapter. Wonderfully charming characters, a gripping storyline and just enough angst make this book everything a romance is intended to be, so putting this book down before you’ve read the very last page is impossible.

Good thing that it’s only a medium length novella, and I’m hoping that the next story won’t be too far away.

A sweet small town romance.

When it came to women and commitments, Trey Walker believed he was cursed. Then, Maddie Brooks enters the picture. She was wholesome and sweet. But he was afraid he would break her heart like every other woman in his past. So, he holds back

When Maddie’s clinic and apartment is burned down, Trey offers her a room at 2 Hope Ranch and the use of his barn for her veterinarian practice. Maddie has a thing for Trey from the start, but Trey doesn’t seem to show any interest in her. While living at the ranch, Maddie starts working with Trey’s wild stallion Storm. Storm is just like Trey, or so Maddie thought. At least she was able to calm and settle down Storm. Trey was another story that Maddie was still trying to figure out. Will Trey ever be able to get past his so-called curse and find a way to love Maddie?

If you love cowboys, small towns and animals, you will really enjoy this book. The chemistry between the lead characters is off the chart. I got caught up in this book really quick and had a hard time putting it down. This is the first in a new series and I anxious to read the next book already.

This was a sweet story. Poor Trey is just so hard headed and stubborn though. There were so many times I wanted to strangle him. Maddie is a sweetheart and I enjoyed her loving nature. I hated when the word filly was used in reference to her though. Overall a cute book.

Taming the Texas Cowboy by Charlene Sands is the first in this series that I have read. It has an interesting story with a rancher and a veterinarian as the main characters. I will say that I like Maddie better than I did Trey. She was open and honest as well as conscientious and intelligent. Trey for his part was a Clint Eastwood type of guy. He seemed to push Maddie away even while he pulled her to him.

The story-line is enjoyable while being predictable. But, hey I’m all for HEA so no complaint from me about that. The story is not long so it never drags and comes to a satisfying conclusion. I really think fans of authors like Diane Palmer or Toni Carrington would love this book and should put Charlene Sands on their go-to author list.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Previously released as the Cowboy Contract, I found this an easy cowboy read with a nice heroine and a taciturn hero, mostly kept apart by the hero’s stubborn belief in a curse – and a death bed promise to his father not to repeat the older man’s mistakes.

For the most part it was okay, but it never drew me in as much as I’d hoped. In fact, a lot of the time, I found it mildly irritating. Trey’s curse is flimsy at best and the way he pulls Maddie in closer before chasing her away – several times – was more annoying than sexy or emotional. He’s ridiculously stubborn and she’s not much better. They do have good chemistry, though, so at least their attraction made sense.

Maddie is an okay heroine, smart enough to give up on Trey when he shows no interest in her, until he changes everything between them. The way she acts around the stallion, Storm, did occasionally make me question her intelligence, but on the whole I didn’t dislike her. I wish we’d seen more of her working, especially with the animals she’s keeping at Trey’s ranch, but her caring nature comes across well.

I just wish the curse had been given more substance beyond his father and grandfather being womanisers. Especially considering his cousin. Trey seems far too down to earth and straightforward to get tangled up in something like that. It would have been far more likely if he’d just straight up admitted that he was protecting himself. The way it’s all resolved felt too quick and easy too, which didn’t help.

So this is okay. It has a sexy, brooding cowboy and a sweet, caring woman out to tame him. There’s plenty of heat between them and some interesting side characters to help move things along. If you like cowboy romances, then you should find something to enjoy here, but preferably if you like your heroes stubborn and your heroines patient enough to overlook it.

Maddie has spent the last year living and working on 2 Hope Ranch after a fire destroyed her veterinarian business and her apartment. A year where she’s rebuilt, come to terms with the loss and spent the time along side of a sexy cowboy she wishes would return her affection. Trey runs warm and cold, there’s a spark there, she knows it but he won’t act on it. At this point she’s given up any hope for them at all – then he went and kissed her. Now what was she to do?

Trey knew a year ago that offering sanctuary to Maddie was probably not a great idea, but when disaster hits you do the right thing. Oh, he’s aware of the chemistry between them, and her draw is not easy to resist. But Trey is convinced that he’s cursed with it comes to women. Okay, maybe he’s had some bad luck, but he’ll never know until he stops meandering around the attraction. So he kissed her – what in the world has he let loose now?

Taming The Texas Cowboy is a fun, charming look at a man who is strong in some ways and afraid in others. When push comes to shove he has to admit that Maddie could mean something important to him. He simply has to get past that idea of cursed, and changed it around into blessed. Maddie is about to give up on this man who could be everything she’s dreamed of. Now she has to decide if she’s the one to show him how good real love can be. There is definite chemistry between Trey and Maddie. I enjoyed their banter and understood Maddie’s frustration with this man. Sometimes all it takes to turn bad luck around is the right woman, something that Trey has to learn.

Looking for a fun, charming and sexy story? Love to be in on the beginning of an exciting new series? Then you’ll want to pick up Taming the Texas Cowboy. Maddie and Trey’s story is one that any Romance reader would enjoy. Cowboys, animals and love always a winning combination.

Taming The Texas Cowboy pits solid, dependable veterinarian Maddie Brooks against Trey Walker, a cowboy with no faith in his ability to commit to a long term relationship. The story is set on Trey's Texas ranch, where Maddie is renting a room and running her vet business after her home and office were destroyed in a fire. Two horses, a feisty stallion named Storm and a gentle mare named Julip also feature strongly in the story. Charlene Sands has drawn a nice parallel between the developing human relationship and the interaction between the two horses, though I did want to hit Trey over the head for his stupid beliefs. This is a good story and while at times I felt the pace could have been faster I enjoyed it.

This is a lovely easy cowboy romance with a taciturn hero who thinks he and his family is cursed to not find true love and a heroine who is patience personified, a caring veterinarian who has a magical way with animals. They are both attracted to each other but she’s just about given up on him ever caring for her. When a fire destroyed her surgery and home, however, Maddie Brooks is offered a place to stay and work on the 2 Hope Ranch of Trey Walker. It is meant to be a business only arrangement but love has a way of changing even the best laid plans!

Whilst Trey’s curse beliefs are somewhat tenuous and difficult to reconcile with the ranch-owning, hardworking, rugged cowboy persona and his push me - pull you attitude to Maddie sometimes drove me mad, it is still an enjoyable story to escape into. The characters are great, easy to relate to (and feel like figuratively hugging or throttling at times). Maddie’s interactions with animals are superbly portrayed and the ending great. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading more in this series!

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

Trey offers Vet Maddie a place at his ranch. While she is helping with the taming of his stallion, this gentle vet tames this Cowboy and their loves settles in for the long haul. Great book with homestyle secondary characters this reader enjoyed. Looking forward to more in the series.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Book received from NetGalley.

Quick little cowboy romance. The town vet's, Maddie Brooks, practice is consumed by fire so a local rancher, Trey Walker, gives the vet a place on the ranch to keep her office open. This is told mainly from Trey's point of view. He believes he is cursed to be alone since from all he's seen the men in his family hurt the women they love. I thought it was a cute romance, something quick to escape from the every day with.

I really enjoyed this first trip to Hope Wells, Texas and the 2 Hope Ranch. Trey was such a kind hearted man but still so infuriating for refusing to acknowledge his true feelings for Maddie. The telling of their story in parallel though the gentling of Storm was lovely! The only piece that seemed a bit off was that there was this sense from everyone that Trey was supposed to make it to her birthday party - but didn't he have a cow calfing?
