Then turn to new fiction from bestselling author Danzy Senna, in her novel of contemporary manners in America, New People. After that, this month is all about debuts. Sarah Schmidt looks through the eyes of Lizzie Borden’s troubled sister in See What I Have Done, while Leah Weiss provides a portrait of Appalachia through one small town in If The Creek Don’t Rise. At the opposite end of the cultural spectrum, Impossible Views of the World by Lucy Ives is a semi-mystery set in a New York museum.

Rounding out the sampler is Laugh Out Loud, an illustrated middle grade title from James Patterson and his JIMMY imprint.

You get to read a few chapters of a book to see if you are going to like it or not. The best part is there is usually a link at the end of each one to click on to request! Brilliant!!

A few books listed here which the lovely publishers at Netgalley have approved. Picked out Lucy Ives as a new read and interested in the new Karl Ove Knausgaard series beginning with 'Autumn'.

This is a great collection of excerpts of upcoming books for the month of August 2017.

It contains an introduction followed by a section with a list of "Literary Favorites and Emerging Titles", debut fiction, commercial fiction, and nonfiction titles. Then it has a section of "Week by Week" title releases and at the end some book excerpts that were originally published in Buzz Books 2017: Spring/Summer, Buzz Books 2017: Fall/Winter, and Buzz Books 2017: Young Adult Spring/Summer. I particularly enjoyed the excerpt for NEW PEOPLE by Danzy Senna. I was also happy to see EMMA IN THE NIGHT featured in the releases for the week of August 8, 2017. I LOVED this novel.

Overall, a great list of buzzing titles for the month of August 2017.

If you haven’t perused a Buzz Books edition yet, let me tell you, you’re missing out. This is the best way to expose yourself to new books; I’m talking a comprehensive list of upcoming releases by genre and date, summaries and even excerpts. What better way to find out if you connect with an author’s writing before spending the money on a new release? We all know, hardcovers can be pricey!

This month resulted in mostly no’s for this picky reader, but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. My overflowing bookshelf will survive without any new editions this time around.

New People - No, thank you.

If The Creek Don’t Rise by Leah Weiss - This was already on my radar; I will be reading it.

See What I Have Done - Interest is piqued; definitely going in the ‘maybe’ pile.

Impossible Views of the World - A definitive no.

The Half Drowned King - Not my cup of tea.

Stay With Me - I might consider it in the future, but as of now, I would say no.

Laugh Out Loud - I have no interest.

A chance to read excerpts from seven books that will be published in August as well as a list of numerous titles that will be released make this binge reader ecstatic! I just don't know of any other place where you can find so much information about books in one place. While quite a few books made my TBR list, at the top of my list is If the Creek Don't Rise by Leah Weiss.
Thanks to Publishers Lunch and NetGalley for another great Buzz Books Monthly.

I really enjoy reading the Buzz Books Monthly. It starts with the Publishing Preview roundup at the beginning of the book. This gives you a lighting fast roundup of all the noteworthy books coming out in August. It is categorized by books that deserve extra attention, literary favorites and emerging talents, debut fiction, commercial fiction, and nonfiction. Then, the remaining August books are listed by release date. It really gives you a complete picture of everything coming out that month.

The rest of the book is dedicated to a short preview of seven books. I particularly like the sneak peek of See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt where she reimagines one of the most infamous murder cases of all time. As a fan of true crime and mysteries, I am anxiously awaiting the release of this one. From the excerpt, you realize the narrator is seriously creepy and deranged, in the most wonderful way! I look forward to reading this one!

I look forward to the monthly guides to help me plan out my reading schedule. The excerpts offer a quick glimpse at what's hitting the presses whether it be fiction, non-fiction and the variety of genres that make up the wonderful world of reading.
