Description

Part-Time Grim Reaper. Full-Time Cutie!

Like most university students, Kim works a part-time job to make ends meet. Unlike most university students, Kim's job is pretty cool: she's a grim reaper, tasked with guiding souls into the afterlife.

Like most university students, Becka has a super intense crush. Unlike most university students, Becka's crush is on a beautiful gothic angel that frequents the underworld. Of course, she doesn't know that.

Unaware of the ghoulish drama she's about to step into, Becka finally gathers up the courage to ask Kim on a date! But when she falls into a ghostly portal and interrupts Kim at her job, she sets off a chain of events that will pit the two of them against angry cat-dads, vengeful zombies, and perhaps even the underworld itself. But if they work together, they just might make it... and maybe even get a smooch in the bargain.

Advance Praise

“College is expensive, so part-time jobs are pretty typical. Kim’s job, however, is a far cry from the usual wage labor—she’s a reaper of souls, though she’s still in training, so her souls are mostly of the pet variety. When her cute classmate Becka follows her through her portal and interrupts a particularly challenging job, Kim goes a little too far in trying to impress her: a trip to an amusement park is the tops, but the haunted ship? Not so nice, especially when Becka is possessed by a ghoul. Can their burgeoning romance survive the demands of Kim’s otherworldly job? Thanks to some pluck (and a zombie-smashing rolling pin), yes, it can. Graley’s adorably goth comic is full of over-the-top slapstick; cute, goggle-eyed characters; a sweet lesbian romance; and, of course, lots of skeletons and trips to hell. The contrast between the macabre plot and bubbly art, in a rich palette of warm jewel tones with pops of fluorescent hues, will be utterly bewitching for the right reader.”
- Booklist

“Two girls attending university crush on each other and fight supernatural creatures in this charming graphic novel for teens.

Uni student Becka has a thing for goth girls. Brown-haired, brown-skinned, curvy, and femme, she works in a bakery and spends her art-history class daydreaming about her classmate Kim: “a 100% cutie with a booty.” Kim is pale with a purple bob and cat’s-eye eyeliner. When Becka finally works up the nerve to ask Kim out, she follows her out of class—and accidentally stumbles through a pink portal surrounded by skulls and swirling purple ghosts. Kim, casually carrying a portal-creating scythe, is on her way to reap the soul of a cat, her current assignment in her new job as a part-time grim reaper (to pay her way through uni). Becka’s arrival disrupts the process, sending them on a whirlwind adventure-turned-date to save Kim’s job and get home safely. Zombies, ghouls, and skeletal reapers all make appearances, but Graley’s humorous dialogue and cute cartoon illustrations (featuring Gravity Falls–esque oversized eyes and bubble-gum colors) keep things light.

An appealing mixture of 95 percent humor and 5 percent horror perfect for fans of John Allison’s graphic-novel series Giant Days and the web series Carmilla. (Graphic fantasy. 12-18)” - Kirkus

“After working up the courage to invite her crush Kim to the pub for a drink, university student Becka follows her into a portal, where she discovers that Kim’s goth look isn’t an act: Kim works as a part-time grim reaper, collecting the souls of animals and, eventually, humans. Becka accompanies Kim on a few missions, but she isn’t entirely comfortable with Kim’s career choice, creating a potential roadblock in their relationship. With plenty of hijinks (an amped-up bodybuilder with an army of cats, ghoul-possessed pirate treasure, a plague of zombies) and banter (“Your noodley arms pack such a punch,” gushes Becka at one point), the story has no shortage of entertaining moments. But they play second fiddle to its focus on how one goes about setting boundaries in relationships, especially in the face of trying to make a living. Graley uses a dark, purplish palette to create an atmosphere of otherworldly adventure without resorting to a full-on goth-culture black motif. Her chunky drawing style resists over-sexualizing the girls’ budding romance, and the steady stream of jokes keeps her story’s more intense emotional moments from getting too dire or serious. Ages 13–up.” - Publishers Weekly

Gr 7 Up–Graley presents an adorable story of friendship and budding romance—and an underworld of vengeful grim reapers. College student Becka has a crush on Kim, a classmate in an art course, but Kim doesn’t even know Becka exists. When Becka accidentally follows Kim through a magical portal, she discovers that Kim works as a part-time grim reaper, helping souls make their way into the afterlife. It soon becomes evident that Kim returns Becka’s feelings, but Becka isn’t sure she approves of Kim’s dangerous profession. While the plot features plenty of ghostly close calls, the tone is more funny than frightening. Featuring soft, curved lines and plenty of visual humor, the cute artwork keeps the mood lighthearted. VERDICT An excellent addition to libraries seeking graphic novels, especially those looking for hi-lo titles for teens interested in paranormal romance.” - School Library Journal

*RECOMMENDED* “This book introduces us to the titular character, who is the first human in training to become a grim reaper. Her college classmate, Becka, follows her after class one day in the hopes of asking Kim out for drinks, but instead gets sucked into a portal and discovers Kim at work. Becka’s presence causes Kim to botch the job and lands her in hot water with the Board of Grim Reapers. Kim must then figure out how to circumvent the punishment the Board doles out, while also trying to deepen her burgeoning relationship with Becka. Graley has created an appealing world with cute characters in goth/hipster apparel and an on-trend color palette of pinks and purples all within a lighthearted, fast-paced story. Elements of death and horror are treated as if Kim’s position were any part-time job, while the emotional heft is given to Kim and Becka’s relationship and the efforts they make to understand and support each other. This is sure to be a hit with graphic novel readers that are a little punk rock but also have a sense of humor.”
- School Library Connection

“In Sarah Graley’s delightful new series, Death is not only a beautiful goth undergrad, she’s also the object of her classmate Becka’s massive crush. Becka’s infatuation, captured so wonderfully by Graley’s expressive cartooning style, takes the two on a chaotic journey, ranging from university romantic travails to hellish underworld portals. Now’s the perfect time to jump on board with this cute new series.” - Entertainment Weekly

Sarah's silly comedic voice is on full display right here in this here book! I can't wait to see where the series goes!” - Justin Roiland, co-creator of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty

“It has the same kind of over-the-top, physical and nearly psychedelic humor as several Cartoon Network shows, and teeters just on the edge of being all-ages friendly. It’s fun and funny without rejecting serious themes, and offers Graley a great platform to hone her already impressive skills.”

Kim Reaper is a positively adorable story about two college girls falling in love and fighting baddies! Becka is an innocent baker looking for a fun date with her crush, only to find out that her crush, Kim, is a part-time grim reaper! Antics ensue, and the entire ordeal is precious, hilarious, fun, and diverse! While the writing was cheesy and young at points, I had so much fun reading Kim Reaper and would totally pick up the next volume.

Thank you to Oni Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I have been eyeing this book (and well this comic) for a long time. Ever since Sarah posted bits and pieces of it, told us about it, showed the comic issues. I knew I wanted it. But I wanted to wait for the bundled volume to come out as it isn't easy to find the issues.

This book is about Kim, but also about Becka. We see things happen from both perspectives, and I loved that. We see Becka (whom I loved instantly) and her crush on Kim. Little could that girl have expected that her kick-ass girl crush was a Grim Reaper. :P I had such a laugh when she saw Kim go through a portal, and instead of screaming, just started making pictures for internet usage.

After that the story really starts. Instantly we find out that Kim isn't just your normal average goth, oh no. To fun her college, rent, and epic clothes she took a job as Grim Reaper. Yup. That must be the best job ever.

You won't be able to have a breather, believe me. It will be a rollercoaster of cats, creepy Reapers (with an enormous bunch of egos), parties, skeletons, and lots of sparks flying.

Because these two girls are in lurrrrveee! I wasn't sure at first if Kim was also in love/liked Becka (as she first seemed very put off by Becka's kind of stalking), but that all changed when she was so sweet to go on a sort of date with Becka to show her the Grim Reaper's powers. And especially later it got more obvious as she has to save her girl from certain doom (stupid Grim Reapers (not Kim)). The romance between was really cute, and I liked that Sarah Graley added some more extra to it by having Becka not approve of Kim's powers. Or well, at least not the whole reaping thing. And it was also not much of a disapproval if more of a worrying thing. It is a dangerous job, and Becka would like many more dates and many more romantic events.

Becka and Kim couldn't be more different, though Becka also shows she can kick some serious butt if the need arises (never mess with a girl who works in a bakery).

The art was fabulous, I just adore Sarah's style of drawing.

It was just a shame that the ecopy I had didn't have that high definition on the images. The text bubbles were clear and HD, but the rest was a bit fuzzy. Which is a shame. It is not the first time I have noticed this happening when I get a copy from Netgalley.

All in all, I could rave about this one for a long time, but I think I have said what I wanted. I will just say that I want a second book! I want more Grim Reaper adventures, more romance, more kisses! Give me more Becka and Kim!

LOVED This!

Super cute graphic novel about a queer grim reaper?! OKAY!!!! The story starts off with Becka crushing on Kim, in their college arts class. After a meet cute involving Kim reaping the soul of the cat, the 2 girls take off on a whirlwind of quick adventures. There are other grim reapers, zombies and romance, all tied together by the wonderfully drawn art.

Thank you to Netgally for providing me with this ARC for my honest review! This one was truly a pleasure and I can't wait for the next installment!

Thank you to Oni Press for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for review! All opinions are my own.

This was such a cute read! I don't generally read graphic novels/comics, but this one just drew me in as soon as I saw the cover. Also, the title is super funny and catchy. I just couldn't resist and I'm so glad I picked this one up.

Becka is a university student that works at a bakery and has a crush on a girl named Kim. Kim is a grim reaper, tasked with guiding souls into the afterlife. One day, when Becka accidentally falls into a portal and interrupts Kim at her job, she accidentally sets off a chain of events that will pit the two girls against an angry cat-dad, zombies, and even the reapers of the Underworld!

First off, I can see where people might think that this story was all over the place. Grim Beginnings is a bind up of four issues of Kim Reaper, so readers may have gotten confused and felt that there was a lot of jumping around in the story. I personally enjoyed how wacky and fun and even slightly all over the place it was! This story definitely didn't take itself too seriously and I loved the humor that was on every page. I especially loved the insanity that was the Underworld and how really, none of their rules made much sense and the reapers just kind of did what they wanted. All of the parts that took place in or involved the reapers in the Underworld had me laughing so hard!

Becka and Kim were super adorable and definitely ship-worthy. I loved how different they were, appearance-wise and personality-wise, and I really felt like they worked so well together. They were funny and cute and got into some crazy things throughout this bind up. Their character dynamic was great and they really balanced each other out so well. I loved that Becka was on the larger side because I don't ever read stories, let alone comics/graphic novels, about female characters that aren't twig thin. I thought she was absolutely beautiful and adorable and that her and Kim were the cutest couple ever. Kim was also so unique and funny and different and I just truly loved the two of them and all of their interactions throughout this comic. Even if the story/plot wasn't enjoyable, I'd keep reading just to see more of Becka and Kim!

As I said above, this story definitely did not take itself too seriously. It was so funny and I loved all of the crazy antics that Becka and Kim got into. Also, I really enjoyed the Underworld and the reapers. I'd read an entire issue about the things that they get up to while in the Underworld because I feel like it's not all serious grim reaper business and that it would be a great story to read! Each chapter was a fairly quick read and I feel like the first three kind of connected as one story with chapter four being the beginning of a new story arc, which makes me really excited to see where the story goes from there.

Overall, this was a quick and fun read that had me laughing at how wacky it was. The relationship between the two main characters was wonderful and I'm so ready to see where their story goes in the future! If you're looking for a new comic/graphic novel to get into, or even if you want to get into the genre but are feeling unsure about it, I highly recommend picking up Grim Beginnings! It has humor, LGBT and unique body type representation, zombies, grim reapers, baked goods, and a lot of cats. This is one series you really don't want to miss!

Everything about this is adorable. From the artwork, to the colour palette to the story it's just a dream world of soft lines and sweetness. Which is odd since a good portion of the action takes place in the underworld. Maybe that appeals to my 'dark but sweet' treacle kind of lifestyle?

If you like F/F relationships, forays into the underworld, scythes and cupcakes this is definitely a comic for you. It has the same light-hearted tone as Nimona with the quirky artwork of some of the best cartoons on television.

There were panels that genuinely made me laugh out loud (a little awkward to explain at work) and there's an underlying feeling of an adventure waiting to happen. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this story goes in the future.

I can already think of about 20 friends I am going to have to buy this for as a gift. I daresay many of you will also love it!

My rating: 5/5 stars

This is an A+ selection for public libraries with graphic novel collections that cater to high schoolers. There's nothing life-changing going on here - although the emphasis on diversity and representation is notable - but Graley's tale is fun and funny and totally entertaining. Graley's ability to just jump into the story and the premise works well here. Her cutesy goth artwork fits perfectly with the tone of the overall story. Fans of Rick & Morty, Adventure Time, Lumberjanes, and Scott Pilgrim will definitely enjoy Kim Reaper. I can't wait to read more!

Recommend to: high schoolers looking for entertaining graphic works and/or students interested in diverse characters and portrayals of LGBTQ+ relationships and experiences

This was super cute! Both of the main characters are pretty kick-ass chicks. Kim was supposed to be the Grim Reaper, so this iconic thing, but I think Becka was the bravest one. I hope there will be more of this story because I would love to see what happens with the promised futures of both girls.

I had been looking forward to reading this book for ages and I wasn't disappointed. The story was great fun and the art style is adorable. I especially liked the cats! I liked how Kim and Becka just happen to both be women who fall for each other and the focus is on their relationship and adventures rather than making it a big deal. I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Super cute, fun, and diverse! I can't wait to read the second volume

I love all these genre graphic novels with queer characters that are coming out! The dynamic between Becka and Kim is so fun and adorable. The premise is that Kim works as a part time grim reaper to pay her bills while going through university. Becka has a crush on Kim and falls into her world of paranormal cutesy gothness. That's the best way to describe the art style, I think: cutesy goth. Or, bubblegum goth?

The tone is light, but genuine. It reminds me of Scott Pilgrim in some ways. I loved the ending of this first volume. I will definitely be looking out for the next volume.

I give this graphic novel a 5/5. This comic is wonderfully queer and wonderfully supernatural. There need to be more things like this in the world.

Death is cute.

No, not really, but in this case, Kim, who is working part time as a grim reaper for pets, is cute.

And Becka has a crush on her, but thinks that sort of part-time job is weird.

This is a weirdly fun, odd, graphic novel, about what happens when Kim doesn't exactly follow the rules, and keeps getting in more and more trouble.

Come for the cuteness. Stay for the weirdness.

[Review to be posted at the Lesbrary on pub date:]

WELL. If this isn't one of the cutest things I've ever read. Becka is an art school student who is crushing hard on Kim, a gothic girl in her class. Little does she know, Kim is a part-time Grim Reaper, and instead of heading off to the pub after class with a cute girl, Becka ends up being pulled into some dangerous undead shenanigans.

This is so much fun to read. The plot is silly (they fight a bodybuilder and his army of cats!) and the art is super cute. I also found the interaction between Becka and Kim really interesting. At first, Becka is pursuing Kim, fully convinced that she, too, is Goth As Hell and that they would be perfect together. Kim at first pushes her away, but they are stuck together on this adventure, and she soon warms up. In the meantime, as Becka gets to know Kim, she is frustrated by her recklessness--the only reason she even ended up here is because Kim opened a portal in the middle of the hallway!

Kim has to grapple with the fact that her attempts to impress Becka have just put them both in danger, and that not everyone finds running from death (figuratively and literally) a fun way to spend the afternoon. Becka walks away when she feels that their relationship isn't a healthy one for her, and Kim has to figure out whether she wants to keep going on this path. That's mostly in the background, though, and it never gets too dramatic. It just adds a layer to this mostly fluffy and fun read!

Also, I have to mention: Becka is the most adorable main character I've ever seen. The hair buns! Her cute little tummy!! Honestly, I couldn’t believe how much I appreciated that there is an outline of Becka’s tummy. And I actually learned that "visible belly outline" (or VBO) is a thing! That there's a term for! So this book made me happy not only because a) the illustrations are adorable, b) the plot is silly and fun, c) Becka and Kim are cuties together, but also d) seeing Becka--a character whose silhouette does not look entirely dissimilar to my own--depicted as cute, confident, and desirable makes me feel happier in my own clothes.

If you need a boost of cuteness in your reading life, I can't really recommend Kim Reaper highly enough. This was one of my few 5 star ratings this year!

Kim Reaper is a cute and funny graphic novel about two girls that go to University and fall in love...also one is a part time grim reaper.

“We need a better plan than... ‘be like ninjas’”

The story follows the pair as they navigate the start of their relationship having to endure obstacles such as:
-an energy drinking muscle man with lots of cats
-ghouls
-possession
-the Board of Grim Reapers

The artwork is super cute and the story is enjoyable. A quick lighthearted read.

Kim Reaper caught my attention because I follow Sarah Graley on Tumblr and I love "Our Super Adventure".
I love the casual way in which Kim is a Grim Reaper and that is her part-time job, and Becka is the most tender and relatable person in this world. The story is funny and weird, but the two of them being so great, it balances everything. I would love to continue reading about Kim's life and how she balances the university and her unique work.

I love really goofy comics. The cover and the name was instantly something I needed in my life. Before I had even finished the download I was shouting at everyone I talk to about comics (including the book club I am part of) about how this comic was something perfect. Maybe I got a little ahead of myself.

The art was consistently cartoon-y throughout the book, which help keep the creepy factor down. The counsel of grim reapers would have been a bit terrifying if they weren't so goofy. It kept the dark tones and dark plots, much easier to swallow. It was a great introduction to the reaper underworld. It wasn't too heavy and it wasn't overly goofy. It was in that middle ground where it could have gone either way and really put a damper on my love.

Other comics like this are Lumberjanes and Giant Days. If you like those, then this is a great addition to your reading list. This is right in the middle of those two. The plot is not as supernatural as Lumberjanes, but not as realistic as Giant Days. The humor is between the two as well. It isn't quite as adult as Giant days, but it isn't geared towards middle school kids like Lumberjanes.

I have to say, having a female grim reaper that is interested in ladies was pretty wonderful. I am all about some cute, ghost-y gay love. It warms my heart. I don't know if I ship the two  main ladies at this point as they are both not completely fleshed out. In a few more books I will know if I like them together or if I start rooting for the grim reapers. You can bet I will be sticking around to find out!

this was such an adorable, quirky comic!
Characters: Becka and Kim are both so fun! I love how happy and loyal Becka is. and i like how badass Kim is.
Plot: what a fun idea! a college student who works as a grim reaper? hilarious!
Diversity: The girls are queer. Becka is black and fat. Several of the background characters you see throughout the comic are POC, and i saw at least one girl in a hijab.
Verdict: I love comics about women, by women. very few things make me happier, and this one did not disappoint!

Forget those boring work study jobs, when college student Kim needs some pocket change she takes on a part-time gig as a grim reaper, escorting souls to great beyond. Just as she's learning the ropes, though, her classmate Becka falls hard for her in more ways than one. In an attempt to ask Kim out on a date, Becka trips through the time portal that Kim uses for work, resulting in Kim being called in for a performance review. Will Kim have to collect Becka's should to avoid getting fired? Will Becka and Kim finally hook up? Will they be able to stop the zombie invasion that is further complicating the situation? Pop culture references, candy colors, and (literally) eye-popping characters make for a truly whimsical read.

Even though there is certainly a grim undertone to everything, Kim Reaper is nothing short of adorable. From Becka's goo-goo eyes for Kim to the hysterical Cat-Dad, everything in this graphic novel was wonderful. The art work fits the storyline perfectly. There was not one moment where I found myself growing bored. I mean, I read though this entire volume in one sitting. And once I was done, I was looking to see when I'd be able to read what happens next.

I would definitely recommend this graphic novel to anyone who admires zombies, ghouls, & the underworld. All with a touch of cute to go with it.

Freaping adorable!

Becka is totally crushing on the goth girl at school, black-clad, purple-haired Kim. What Becka doesn’t know – that is, until she inadvertently follows Kim through a portal and interrupts a cat reaping* – is that Kim wields a scythe and is the only human reaper in employ down in hell. Can their budding romance survive Kim’s super-intense, yet just part-time job? How about a buff cat guy high on energy drinks? One of the girls’ death-dates? A zombie apocalypse? Yes, this all transpires in a mere 114 pages, and it is as weird and wonderful as it sounds.

KIM REAPER is, in a word, freaping adorable. Okay, that’s two, but Kim would excuse me. Becka and Kim make a cute as heck couple, and the bizarre obstacles that inexplicably pop up in their path will just have you rooting for them all the more. I mean, two cute girls? One of them a reaper? Crushing on each other, kicking butt, reaping souls? What’s not to love?!?

Also, some of the over-the-top emotional panels are reminiscent of the SARAH’S SCRIBBLES series, which only ups its cool quotient imho.

The only odd thing is that the writing feels a little young – like tweeny – even though the girls – err, women – are in university. It has the vibe of a middle grade story with a YA/New Adult cast.

* Bonus points for imparting a sort of personhood to nonhuman animals, even though it probably wasn’t meant as a political statement or anything.

This was the cutest graphic novel EVER. I loved the story and the tone was bang on. Humorous and silly in the best way. Reminded me of the funnier episodes of Buffy. Can’t wait to read the next in the series(please say there will be more!),

Light, silly, and fun.

Becka crushes hardcore on her classmate Kim, and accidentally discovers that Kim is a part time grim reaper when she falls down a portal Kim opened. Becka is kind of a goofball, so hijinks ensue as they get into one weird situation after another.

Even though this is set in college/university it would appeal to younger teens.

A great first bind up of the Kim Reaper series. I loved the characters and loved the way that the LGBT+ story line was weaved throughout. The art style was great and the characters were drawn so cute. I loved Kim and thought she developed really well over the course of the story. It wasn't long enough for me as i wanted more about these characters right away!

Oh my heck, did I love this little book. I just finished it during the #24in48 readathon and I just need to dump my brain before exhaustion takes over my love of this book.

Kim is a part-time grim reaper, full-time cutie. Becka is adorable and enamored. When Becka gets up the courage to ask Kim out for drinks and accidentally follows her through a portal, hijinks ensue. Mix in an octopus, zombies, some of the greatest dialogue I've read recently, and the Board of Grim Reapers, and you've got a fun, adorable series. Graley's art is so amazing and the dialogue was sheer perfection. I already can't wait for the next installment. I will definitely be purchasing this the second I can.

If you need a quick, fun, light-hearted, diverse read, look no further.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me the opportunity to read and review.

This was such an amazingly fun read. It was a light-hearted adventure and it was quite funny. I really enjoyed the sense of humor and the relationship between Becka and Kim.
If you're looking for an adorable and light graphic novel, this is a good choice.

Two girls at uni who fall in love and fight monsters together - what's not to like? This was such a fresh, light and fun read. The characters are total opposites: Becka is a cute girl who works at a bakery and whose main problem is making her crush notice her; Kim is a gothic girl who helps souls cross to the other side for a living. I'd say it's precisely their differences what makes their relationship so sweet - they grow to support and understand each other (even if that means fighting cats and visiting the underworld). I also felt like the art style went really well with the tone of the story and its humour. All in all, I'd recommend it for people who like comics like Lumberjanes, and I'd definitely be interested in continuing with this series!

Ridiculously cute and entertaining, this reminds me of the Lumberjanes mixed with Gravity Falls! I can't wait to see what Kim and Becka get up to next!

"It's full of skeletons and junk, and I have a skeleton inside of me. Which makes me goth Tyler"

The book gods have answered and have granted us the cutest graphic novel of the lands!!

We are first introduced to Becka who has a MAJOR SERIOUS crush on this goth chick named Kim in her class. She follows Kim down a hallway trying to get her attention when all of a sudden, Kim walks into a portal that looks similarly to a vortex of death. Low and behold, Kim is actually a part time reaper. This was intensely hilarious and intriguing and fabulous! I really loved the art! It told an awesome story and it was lively and the expressions were perfect. I giggled quite a few times, it's just really hilarious. Who doesn't like a sassy LGBTQ+ couple??

So yes, THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL IS AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE AND I LOVE IT.

What would you do if you encountered a soul reaper? I would be curious just like Becka and I will hide to watch what that reaper will do. But I would never have the guts to talk to him/her, no matter how tame-looking that reaper looks like. However, Becka is quite different because aside from the fact that she's a very inquisitive character, she likes Kim the Reaper. Because of this, Becka got entangled with Kim's situation and problems as a reaper.

The story of Kim Reaper is narrated in both the equal perspective of Becka and Kim. The illustrations are also adorably drawn just like the story; the author, Sarah Graley, did an awesome job on the pacing of the story and on the plot line. Graley is not only a comic artist, she is also a good storyteller because she was able to come up with not only a good plot, but on how to make readers engross in the story.

I'm obsessed with this. I love Kim and Becka. This is hilarious and adorable at the same time. I don't know how the artist managed to make a book about grim reapers, ghouls, zombies, and dead cats so cute, but she did. This was a delight to read. Becka's crush on Kim was so fun, and I loved their relationship.

This is the cutest little comic ever!
I already knew Sarah Graley from her adorable comics on facebook about her and her boyfriend. And this comic definitely didn't fail my expectations! It was just as cute and funny as her other comics.

It reminded me a bit of Steven Universe. It has really goofy humor which never failed to make me giggle, it was really weird (but fun) fantasy aspects, the art style is also really goofy with sometimes really fun derpy faces, but at the same time, it deals with very real feelings.
I loved the romance and how they kept the relationships real! I can't wait for the story to continue!

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The teens in my library have a tendency to ask me, "Is it gay?" when I suggest a comic to them. If the answer is yes, they are exceedingly pleased and so even just for that I would be purchasing this title. Thankfully it's also a delightful little tale of a human who becomes a grim reaper and the girl who has a giant crush on her. I appreciate that neither of the girls are perfect and that they are both concerned with being in a healthy relationship, not just being with someone they think is attractive. I can safely suggest this to our teens and know they will love it!

I lack the words to describe the cuteness of this book. It was such a fun entertaining read and the illustrations were totally adorable.

The story is about Kim, who is a part time grim reaper to put herself through college. And it’s about Becka, a fiercely sweet girl with a huge crush on Kim. When Becka accidentally follows Kim to work our story begins.

This book is funny, adorable and heartwearming. I enjoyed every second of it. I really loved the bits of banter between the main characters and adored Becka’s down to earth but stil larger then life oersonality. She’s the best!

I secretly hope this graphic novel somehow get’s picked up by a Dutch publisher so my fellow Dutchies can meet Becka and Kim as well 😊👌🏻👌🏻

Kim Reaper is adorable! Everything I could want from a book about a part-time grim reaper. Such a fun concept - would love to see it turned into a cartoon! The art is fun, the story is entertaining, and there's a great romance thrown in! Would recommend for anyone who like the darker side of humor.

A cute graphic novel in which a human is working as the only non-eternal Grim Reaper. Likes: Kim & Becka. All the cats. Ghouls!

Also as someone who does a lot of outreach with the middle school set, I'm super excited that this is rather clean. I can booktalk this to my fifth and sixth graders!

I have been following Graley's Our Super Adventure comic for over a year now and was super excited to read her new solo work Kim Reaper. It was a fun romantic romp through the underworld, wrecked pirate ships, and tons of cuteness.

It was a light, funny read with a cute couple in Becka and Kim. Feel like it could totally be a YA comic and would go over very well with fans of shows like Steven Universe.

Becka has a crush on her fellow university classmate, Kim, but she finds out that Kim is actually a grimreaper.
Kim's dangerous job and nonchalant attitude is a turn off for Becka, but when the Board of Grimreapers puts a hit on Becka, the two of them team up for both of their freedoms.

Kim Reaper is a quick, fun read with colorful and energetic illustrations. Fans of Jonesy will appreciate Becka's spunkiness and the humorous banter between the characters.

Kim Reaper is a fast-paced romantic comedy adventure that will utterly charm you. The art is cute, bordering on adorable (which is a tall order for a comic about death) and the dialogue snappy.
Recommended for fans of Dead Like Me, I Woke Up Dead at the Mall, and Jonesy.

Kim Reaper is delightful. I enjoyed every minute of reading this graphic novel. It's quite short, a quick read, but well worth it. It's so refreshing to see a queer lady as a main character but their queer identity isn't the focus of their character. Kim is definitely that really cool goth girl in art class that you wanted to be friendz with, but never got a chance to be. Now you do.

I really REALLY loved this graphic novel. Super cute graphic novel about a queer grim reaper?! GiVe me everything you got!

Kim Reaper is both cute and funny throughout, it is exactly what you want for a relaxing evening.

The LGBT relationship through the graphic novel is sweet and the characters perfectly complement each other. The two main characters were funny and had very unique personalities that shined through the story.

The plot of Kim Reaper is fun and fast paced, I would definitely recommend this graphic novel to anyone. who is looking for a quirky read.
