5 stars!
This is such an interesting book! Im 32 and have to admit that there were things not even I knew about! Such as a mother kissing her baby and what that does. This book is filled with interesting facts for all kids. There was one page I had an issue with. It is fact number 13 called 'Lift It, Baby' as soon as I read the bit about how a baby is capable of moving around underwater with their eyes and mouth open because their windpipe automatically closes and can spend a short time underwater. I can picture smaller children wanting to test this. There wasnt anything telling readers to not try this at home, though they do say that for the fact above it, just not for this fact. Id suggest reading it with your child expecually if you have a newborn to 6 month old. I mean, it is common sense so most kids will realise this, but still. You hear about this sort of thing happening too often. Anyway. The rest of the book is really really good. I enjoyed it and learned new things. Its sure to be a hit!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

This book looked amazingly fun and cute, so I just had to request it! And I am delighted that I did. Each part has two pages, one with a big (and adorable) illustration the next page tells us about the wacky/amazing thing, and then also gives us a bit of extra information (either directly related to it or something similar) or a fun experiment to try out for yourself (I am going to try that 30 seconds door frame one soon).

A lot of wacky things pass by, from boogers (and what purpose they serve) to brain freeze to why babies have such big eyes. It was all very much interesting to read, and I even learned some newer things while reading.

I also liked that, sporadically, metric was added to the imperial. Not always, sadly, but thankfully more than most books.

I would have liked categories though. There were some topics that could have easily fitted together instead of pages and pages away from each other.

As I said the illustrations were adorable, I really loved the style and how colourful they were. The fitted perfectly and often captured the wacky thing perfectly. :P

All in all, this is one book I would recommend! I am sure kids will adore it.

I really liked this book. It was really interesting. As a person who really likes to collect all kinds of knowledge and really enjoys watching infotainment channels on the telly, this was a really fun book. I'm 21 and I didn't know a lot of the facts that were mentioned. The illustrations were really cute and the little side notes were helpful too.
I'd really recommend this if you enjoy non-fiction. It's a really good book that you'd reading in a café, or at a dentist's office.
Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, Jr. for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really appreciate the opportunity.

This is a great little book of bits of science to get kids interested in well, the human body.

I went into this thinking, yeah, tell me something I don't know, and coming out saying, I did not know that.

For example, while I did know that mother's milk helped babies with their immune system, I did not know that the process of mothers kissing their babies helped move the babies germs into the mother so that her immune system can fight the germs, and give the immunity to her baby through mother's milk. Way cool.

And while I know we have all heart of fireflies, did you k now that humans give off a very faint glow as well? Too soft for humans themselves to see, but there, none the less.

And another fun fact, is that human newborns have a grip so strong, that if they hung on to your finger, you could lift them up, and they would still hang on.

Kids get these little tastes of fun facts, and more, and hopefully want to delve in deeper than this book takes them, to learn more about the human body.

Great introduction to science.

Kids are endlessly fascinated by their bodies and the world around them. This book is absolutely perfect for answering some of the most common of those questions and it does it in an interesting way that keeps kids drawn in. You have one of those kids that asks, "why?" to every response? Give them this book. Yes, I'm aware that's every child. There are a plethora of topics to interest kids with bonus facts and it's done in short bursts with lot of colors so it maintains their attention for as long as physically possible. Informational books just don't get much better than this.

Picked up this book to review before buying for a niece to see if it will hold interest for young readers under 10. What i found was, this book is suitable for adults as much as kids. Had no idea about so many things our body does or is capable of doing. Humans could eat upside down? We were able to wiggle our ears several generations ago? Just one word ...WOW.

Now i know what i will buying for the next few birthday parties as gift! Also, plan to read the other two titles from the same series....wackiest things animals do and wackiest inventions.

One thing was this was not a kindle book, it took me a while to figure out how to read it. But later i understand why it is this way. The pictures in the book are attractive and definitely worthy to be read in adobe digital editions only.

This will be one fun book all children should own. I know it will be in my book case and everyone i know.!

Thanks to Netgalley and Publisher for giving me an opportunity to read this.

The collection of incredible facts about the human body in this small book are really fascinating and fun to read. Some readers may knew already some of the info listed in here, but there are still a lot of interesting and unbelievable things that we could learn about our body. In addition, there are also tips or more info included in some trivia that can be very useful. Anyone who will read this will be surprise on how truly amazing our body is, hence this book implies that we should value it by keeping it healthy.

A look at 50 weird, wacky, and wonderful facts about humans. Each page contains a cartoon illustration, a paragraph describing the wacky thing, and another paragraph with further information.

Most of this is solid biology stuff aimed at the middle grade crowd. The biology teacher in me occasionally wanted a couple footnotes on some pages to clarify things a little better or note exceptions. Only one was outright wrong (whoever wrote this never played an instrument that requires tongue action, tongues can definitely get tired…just ask any flute player after an hour of tonguing T,K,T,K exercises). This should interest kids who like fun facts and are insatiably curious. The illustration style walks a fine line between cute and just plain weird for me, but kids will probably like it.

In the same spirit as his 50 Wacky Inventions Throughout History, Joe Rhatigan has written 50 Wacky Things Humans Do. This title is chock full of all kinds of surprising and entertaining facts about the human body. Did you know your body actually emits light? That your fingers don't have any muscles? That your farts could fill a party balloon in a day?

Rhatigan's text, which includes legitimate, helpful information as well as silly trivia, is accompanied by Lisa Perrett's colorful, silly illustrations. Kids will love flipping through this book and learning lots of interesting things about their bodies.

This is a good fun book full of (as the title would suggest!) 50 interesting facts about the human body, and the more unusual things that it can do. An educational but very fun read. I like how this book has been set out, with not a patch of white space in sight! Each left-hand page has a big bold image, and the right hand side has the text - nicely spaced out and easy to read. A great gift for young, curious minds.

A very good book for the school library, or possibly for home use. Bright, vivid illustrations and only two paragraphs at most per fact give us a lot of information about how our body is the way it is - farting, hiccoughing, sneezing, glowing; and what it can do - echo-locate, balance on fingers, eat upside down and so on. Seemingly trivial, this carries a lot of information in simple form and as a result is very likeable. Four and a half stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher of this book for allowing me to view this book in exchange for an honest review. Everything listed in this book is something we all need to know at some point and time. I especially appreciated know about the need to keep those boogers in our noses! I plan to find all the books in this series for my library. You should, too!

I’m all about the weird and the wacky, so between this book’s title and the cover illustration I was in! 50 Wacky Things Humans Do: Weird & amazing facts about the human body! is such a fun book! Suitable for children and adults alike, this quick read is entertaining and informative (and yes, you will learn about farts and snot). Joe Rhatigan’s book gives plenty of answers to questions you won’t admit you didn’t know the answer to ... until now!

* Why do your fingers and toes get wrinkly when you’ve been in the pool for a long time?

* What causes brain freeze?

* Why can’t you tickle yourself?

* Why do bruises change colour?

* Why does your nose get stuffed up when you cry?

Each wacky thing is explored over two pages, one with just enough information to make it seem as though you’re smarter than you really are and the other with quirky illustrations by Lisa Perrett. The facts are suitable for impressing your friends with, and some that will gross them out. You’ll gain a whole new appreciation for how extraordinary your body is.

Lisa Perrett’s illustrations are wonderful. With bold colours and humour, Lisa brings the facts to life. Her people and animals are very expressive, as are the sun and moon, and plenty of the images are giggly worthy. There are such delights as fart clouds, irritable knees and a completely adorable teddy bear.

Fact of the day: “your brain can perform 38 quadrillion operations per second” (page 35). For those unfamiliar with quadrillions, that looks like 38,000,000,000,000,000. That’s a lot of zeroes!!!

I’d love to receive this as a gift book and it needs to be in public and school libraries. It’s the kind of book I’d have fun sharing with a child, using it to teach them about how remarkable their body is and to trick them into learning some cool anatomy facts. The only downside of this book was that I was enjoying myself so much that I wanted to learn more than 50 wacky things.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley (thank you so much to NetGalley and Walter Foster, Jr., an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group for the opportunity) in exchange for honest feedback.

I've always loved random trivia and it impresses my middle school students which is useful. This book is perfect for kids who enjoy biology and/or random facts.

Foster's 50 Wacky Things Humans Do is a kid’s guide to unusual facts concerning human bodies. Each of the fifty facts is accompanied by cute illustrations, and a little sidebar box. I have to say, there were some facts that were new to me! Like that humans actually give off a faint glow. We just do not have the visual acuity to see it. Or that mama's kisses can give babies antibodies.

I do wish the sidebar regarding optical illusions had included that those without depth perception- such as the case of only having one eye- are far less likely to be fooled by them. First-hand experience here! All of my cubs enjoyed this book, and it's the perfect pick for any child who likes science.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
