Description

In Marcy Mary’s second book, the two-year-old dachshund has plenty to do to keep members of the Anthony family in line, whether they have two legs or four. Luckily, she’s got the breeding and heart to tackle anything that comes her way––and then she encounters Aunt Bertha. This unforgettable lady, “the last one in her generation,” throws the family into chaos with her demands and brusque manner. She also doesn’t like Marcy Mary or her animal companions.

During Aunt Bertha’s visit, Marcy Mary finds herself on a harrowing car ride and taking the blame for mischievous acts. A life hangs in the balance until the quick-thinking dachshund saves the day, and everything begins to change for the better. Lessons are learned, and former companions are reunited––both canine and human––thanks to prayer and the hand of fate.

Marcy Mary’s Memoirs: A Dachshund Princess Shows the Way stars a witty but wise dachshund who uses her keen powers of observation and sense of humor to make her corner of the world a better place. Her family shares her spirituality and recognition of the Creator’s grace and importance to all creatures.

KATHLEEN CHAMBERLIN is a retired public health nurse. During her career she wrote many professional articles and materials, but she longed to write something creative. In chronicling Marcy Mary’s life story she combines two loves: creative writing and dachshunds. Her first book about this exceptional canine is Marcy Mary: The Memoirs of a Dachshund American Princess: The Early Years.

Chamberlin, who has lived with dachshunds for many years, finds their company both stimulating and exasperating. She lives in Newbury Park, CA, with her husband, John, and Archie, a rescued piebald dachshund who may star in his own story someday.

A portion of the sale of this book will support the work of the Ventura County Humane Society,  that has rescued many of God’s creatures both large and small and those in between.

Marcy Mary’s portrait was painted by Stella M Violano, animal artist extraordinaire.

I loved this book! This is book two and I did purchase and read book one first, not necessary but I think helpful as it introduces many of the characters in-depth. Princess Marcy Mary, the beautiful red, smooth dachshund, is back with more adventures. She is commonly called Marcy Mary or simply Marcy. The story is told from Marcy's point of view and is laugh out loud funny at times and very serious at other times. She tells about her life with her family and animal friends. Some of her animal friends are wild and some are neighborhood family pets. Marcy, her family and all. of her friends pray regularly for help and for healing for humans and other animals in need. I recommend this book and believe it will be a great gift for all dog lovers. Geared toward young adult audience; it will appeal to all ages.
