The Chaos of Change

A powerful and chilling tale that in today's political climate one can too easily see coming to pass. Full of thrills with a well-set pace, Riggen weaves an excellent tale of what could happen...an absolute must read for thriller lovers, even if political thrillers aren't usually your thing (they certainly aren't mine). I was definitely impressed and glad I decided to read this!

New-age American heroes will rise and fall. The struggle in the new world begins. Welcome to the imminent future as the American political gap is maximized. Individual states are calling for the disbandment of the federal government because of its lack of stability. Multiple power hungry groups are waiting in anticipation of snatching up the reigns of the United States of America. Then, a nation defining incident occurs, Article V of the Constitution is enacted, and three sovereign territories come into existence. Thaddeus Jackson hardly notices any of it. The son of a former President, Thaddeus once had money, fame, and a promising career in politics. But, then he ran away to the Alaskan wilderness to live in peace away from his family and the growing civil unrest. What most people don't know is that an elite group, led by the director of the CIA, Shane Wallce, has taken action. The recruit a very hesitant Thaddeus to be part of the diplomatic team tasked to negotiate a seemingly impossible peace between the liberal leaders of the North and his dysfunctional, republican family that now runs the South. The team is comprised of Lozen Kyway, a highly trained female agent turned bodyguard; Dr. Andreas Albrecht, a brilliant engineer and scientist who believes that he has discovered a truly sustainable, and dangerous, energy source; and Tomas Martinez, the former Vice President. This group and their support team will come together to try to divert the territories away from war before it's too late.

This was such a terrific book! The adventure was fast paced and suspenseful. The characters were diverse and well written. Each one had their own distinct, strong personality. I truly enjoyed getting to know each one of them. I think Lozen is my favorite though. Honestly, as much as I would love to think that this storyline would be impossible, it's really not difficult to see this sort of thing actually happening after watching the political climate of the past few years. I truly hope that this is the first of a series because it was incredibly well written and the ending definitely left me wanting more with these characters.

It has been a while since I read a political thriller. I did enjoy The Chaos of Change and could see how some of the plot could easily happen in our country. Personally, I would want to hide out in Alaska, too.

The story has a good pace and decent character development so that your interest is kept.

Well worth the read if you enjoy the genre.
