Description

When Katherine "Kit" FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she's forced to run for her life, she stumbles upon not only a glamorous ballroom but also Graham, Lord Wharton. What should have been a chance encounter becomes much more as Graham embarks on a search for his friend's missing sister and is convinced Kit knows more about the girl than she's telling.

After meeting Graham, Kit finds herself wishing things could have been different for the first time in her life, but what she wants can't matter. Long ago, she dedicated herself to helping women escape the same scorn that drove her from London and raising the innocent children caught in the crossfire. And as much as she desperately wishes to tell Graham everything, revealing the truth isn't worth putting him and everyone she loves in danger.

When Katherine "Kit" FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she's forced...

A wonderful Victorian romance that will grab you in lock stock and barrel!! Oh and did I mention that it will leave your heart feeling full once you've finished it? It most certainly did me.
Just the right amount of Faith without being too overdone.
The setting was just perfect and she has written to make feel like a part of the family so to speak.
The supporting characters were awesome too. Some not do nice but hey it's all good!
Oh and the cover is absolutely gorgeous!!
My thanks to Netgalley. NO compensations were received. All opinions are my own.

Okay, emotional rating here! This atmospheric story checked so many boxes for me that I really wanted to jump right into the second book without delay. The romance is so sweet and feels so genuine, and I loved how Kit’s inner conflict unfolds bit by bit over the story. Masterful drawing of the emotional issues in that! I was also impressed of how both Kit and Graham act like adults with each of the issues that come up and I loved how they are able to both spark each other to draw closer to God...so sweet. The stories of the children Kit is looking out for really caught my heart early on and Hunter did a great job of portraying each one clearly even with limited page time.

I was grateful for having read the prequel about Margaretta and Nash first because it made it easier to figure out what was going on at Haven Manor and move forward with the story.

Thanks to the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required. However, I listened to the finished copy as an audio from my library and the narrator also receives five stars for her narration.

A Defense of Honor is the first book in Hunter's Havon Manor series and a wonderful historical read. It took me a little bit to get into the story, but it wasn't long before I grew to love the characters.

I found it fascinating how Kit found herself in the situation she was in...and a little sad, too, that things went the way they did. I loved how she helped so many children, even if some of her actions to help them weren't the best.

All in all, A Defense of Honor was very good and I recommend it!

Set in 1816 England. Christian Historical Romance

Characters who are people you would like to know. This held my interest right from the beginning. Graham (Lord Wharton) is at a party for London's society when he spies a girl behind some of the potted shrubbery. Her hand darts out to grab some of the pastry off the tray of a passing servant. Hooked!

I loved this book and am so excited that it is only book one in the series! This is a Regency romance set in London and the surrounding area. If you are part of the elite class the prospect of becoming an unwed mother in this timeframe is sure to cast the woman out of society and doom her and her child to a life of poverty.. A decade ago Kit set out to change this for a hand-full of women and children.

This is a complex story that delves into all of the elements that polite society put upon its members. I thoroughly enjoyed every page. I really appreciated that the author allowed the reader to look at the situation from all angles. It really should be on your to read list if you enjoy the Regency time period.
