Huh. Who would've thought that a book almost exclusively set in a remote cabin in the Canadian woods, starring basically no more than two characters could be so riveting? Certainly not me.
Sure, I'm a total sucker for the trapped trope - whether it be snowed in, stranded, or a broken down car - but mostly, these situations only serve as a catalyst for the ensuing romance. It's rather uncommen for them to serve as the entire plot.

Though there was an interesting little mystery side-plot going on, this story's main focus lies on the relationship between Aubrey and Jack.
Jack is an enigma from start to end. He's one of those protective, brooding, silent heroes with a big, bad secret but his heart in the right place. He's moody and incredibly reluctant to let anyone get close to him, and I loved how he gradually opened up to Aubrey.
As for Aubrey, while she was an all right heroine, I found her rather unspectacular and generic. Still, I liked her well enough.

Unlike many other readers, I also didn't mind the ending. Amanda Lance took a bold path to not give her readers the HEA they obviously craved, and while I wish she had given it a little more time and development instead of just presenting us with a farewell note in the epilogue, for me the ending worked. It felt realistic and fit in nicely with the rest of the story.

What did not work for me at all was the timespan in which all of this was supposed to have taken place. It was like one week, give or take a few days. One week to overcome trauma of a helicopter crash and witnessing your work colleagues die. One week to heal from severe injuries. One week to get rid of three years of loneliness and all the antisocial behavior that stemmed from it. One week to fall truly, madly, deeply in love with someone. Seriously? Nope.
I just wish the author had given them more time to actually develop feelings for one another instead of rushing things this way.

This book is rather slow-paced most of the time, but very well written. If you don't require a HEA ending in order to enjoy a romance, check it out.

Was drawn to the lovely cover on the book. Read the description and the book sounded intriguing. I cannot complain at all. I loved the book. Right from the word go I was enthralled by it. Loved the 2 main characters. Loved watching how there relationship was built from nothing and not knowing one another to having to live side by side in the middle of nowhere. A huge test on the best of relationships. There were plenty twists and turns in the novel to keep your interest. Highly recommend this one

Amanda Lance has written a thriller, “Trapped”. I read this as fast as I could because I just had to know the outcome.

Aubrey is flying with a news crew to check out rumors that a mob hit man is holed up in the Canadian wilderness with the mob and the law after him. The weather turns deadly and the helicopter goes down. All are killed but Aubrey, who wakes up in a remote cabin with an uncaring man. It seems that he has rescued her from the wreckage, patched up her wounds and is stuck with her until the spring thaw. Aubrey tries to talk to him, make conversation, anything to fill in the dark, cold days. Snow storm after storm batters the little cabin and keeps the inhabitants snowbound.

Aubrey wants to go home. She knows that by now everyone thinks she is dead. Being with this stoic, hard man constantly is wearing on her nerves. There is something that he is not telling her. He has secrets; that she is sure of. Just what secrets and how damaging they may be to her she cannot fathom. When she does uncover his past, she finds herself in deeper than she ever imagined.

It is a good story - one that I read quickly to find out the ending. It will tug at your heart strings and horrify you all at the same time. I loved it.

Trapped by Amanda Lance is a unique thriller/romance. Aubrey Kent is an intern for a news station. Aubrey was in a helicopter that crashes in the snow, on the way to do a story with her co workers. Aubrey wakes up in a strangers cabin. Is he there to help or hurt her. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. Not sure what I think of the ending. Very interesting book that I recommend for people who like mystery thrillers.

This is the first time I have read anything by Amanda Lance and while I can't was I will read more by this author I can say this book has stayed with me since I finished.


The characters are stuck between being complex and unimaginable. Crazy I know. Aubrey is likable but at the same time the author created scenes that I felt I had read more than one in the book. While I enjoyed the character development at times it felt like the book was on repeat.

The story moved at a fast pace but than slowed down at the half way point and once again sped right back up at the end. The end left thrown together and rushed vs the first 80% of the book.


The author while other readers are disappointed with the end I the author left it open ended so if she choose to write another story she has the ability to. If she choose not to than readers will have to deal with the ending.


The story is simple love story with a little suspense. There it too much inner dialogue as well non building scenes that drags the story out.

Trapped is well written. This book has a very unique plot with two main characters trapped in the middle of nowhere in a cabin in the dead of winter. Thriller fans would enjoy this book. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and Netgalley for this unbiased review.

Aubrey is the sole survivor when the newscopter she was riding in crashes. She wakes in a cabin in severe pain and no memory of the crash. At first she is afraid of the man who pulled her from the wreckage but the longer she is trapped in the cabin with him the more attached she becomes and then she discovers who he really is. I thought this was an interesting story filled with suspense and romance.

I found that the suspense aspect was good but there was a lot of inner dialogue. Some times it didn’t bug me but I have found that I am a lover of character interaction so I found my self board at times. I did like how the romance was a slow burn. There’s something to be said about them. It kept me hooked and wanting to know what was going to happen with Jack and Aubrey. I would read more books from this author in the future.

I liked this book. I understand not everyone was happy with the ending, but I enjoy reading realistic stories. The character were likable and well developed. I liked that this book wasn't just about the romance, and there were a few moments in the end that made my heart hammer in my chest.
