Another great sweet little book - Doodled cats by Gemma Correll is. Its in the same format as the Doodled Dogs.
I found this very book cute, fun and charming to read. This book starts with a page of how to use this book, then what supplies you will need to draw the super cute fluffy cats, i.e Pen, Pencil etc. It then asks you questions about your dog, its favourite game, its favourite toy etc. I loved the part when it asks you of your a cat person etc. I loved the drawings of the cats and found them so easy to draw. If you were stuck it had good clear step by step guidelines.
This book would be great for a young child especially if he or she loves cats and would like to have one (hint hint)
Its a Super cute book aimed at all age groups. Plus, would be great for schools children especially if they are doing a project about their pets or wanting a pet.

Big Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster for letting me read and review this book

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster for the ARC!

Gemma Correll is so talented! I love her doodles. I've never had a cat, because my dogs never gave me their permission. But I totally love cats! These pages made me laugh and I think everyone will find something they can relate to. Since I read a digital version, I won't be able to fill the blanks and make my own doodles, which is kind of a bummer. But anyway, I loved it!

Doodled cats would make a perfect gift to your crazy cat person friend.

Like the doggy version, this book tells how to draw a kitty but it's not really a professional art book. More of fun and doodling. Also have information about cats but I am sure if you're into cats you'll know all of it!

Has some templates to doodle your own thing, also tells you step by step how to draw a cat. So will offer a few hours of fun to a cat person. Also DIY mug idea is great.

Very good introduction to Doodle as is the Doodled Dogs by the same author and the same publisher. The tutorials are illustrated and easy to reproduce. An excellent activity to try with friends and family.

This is such a fun book, a great gift to a cat lover!
I like how the author has engaged the reader - you can add finish the drawings, add your own spin to it but also learn how to draw a cute cat :)

This book leapt out at me immediately! The bright pink colour was very eye-catching and straight away I was interested! I love cats, having two of my own. Unfortunately, I’m not an artist, not even someone who can draw really! But, I do like to doodle!

This book begins with the supplies – it’s all pretty simple stuff and nothing more specialised than fine liner pens, marker pens, crayons and coloured pencils! The instructions tell you to follow the lines – red lines mean that’s the next part to be drawn, black lines are the parts you’ve already drawn. That’s about it really!

It’s full of funny little cat facts, figures and lists dotted in between the doodles. The examples given are varied, but I particularly liked the cat expressions! The instructions for each doodle are really simple and so easy to follow that I think even my cat could draw himself! At the back of the book are some cat templates for you to use so you can try out some of the examples in the book.

Fabulous book for all you doodlers, and if cats aren’t your thing I do believe there is the equivalent Doodled Dogs as well! I think you all now know what you will be getting for Christmas!

Doodled Cats is a companion book to Doodled Dogs, released 26th June, 2018 from author Gemma Correll and published by Quarto Publishing - Walter Foster. At 160 pages and 6x7", it's small and compact and good for purse or backpack for those meetings or lectures that call for a little doodling escapism.

For those unfamiliar with author Gemma Correll's style (see the cover), it's quirky and a bit offbeat and oddly endearing. She has a large following on her blog and other social media platforms.

Anyhow, this book gives some tutorial guidance for doodling cats in all sorts of costumes and situations. It's not primarily a tutorial book, half the page content is given over to entertaining cat factoids and showcasing the author's drawings, but there are some step-by-step tutorial pages to give the would-be cat doodler (ca'doodler?) a very gentle nudge in the right direction.

One note; this book and the companion book about dog doodling have several pages which are identical to one another. I wasn't disappointed or annoyed, but having the exact same format in the same order with about 10% (+/-) of exatly the same page content is ever so slightly cheeky in my humble opinion.

Anyhow, for people who love doodling cats in amusing positions, this is a moderately cute book. Ditto the dog book. People who buy both will be supporting the artist author (and publisher) and that's not a bad thing.

Four stars, the world needs more lighthearted fun cartoons to hopefully distract us from the 'real world'.

This book is a guidebook and journal about cats. It will help you doodle different cat faces and cat shapes as well as offers you room to journal about your cat.

Step-by-step practice sections and cat doodle templates make it easy to start doodling your own cats.

Doodled Cats by Gemma Correll is an excellent book for the cat lover in your life. I consider it more a fun book to read rather than a book to teach you to draw cats. The instructions for doodling are few and basic. It does include plenty of ideas for those who are artistically inclined. It is a lovely cat focused book and would make a great gift.

Doodled Cats is a new book by Gemma Correll, author and illustrator of Doodled Dogs. Similar to Doodled Dogs, it starts with suggestions for the tools you will need to draw (basically just pens), a place to stick in a picture of your own cat if you have one, and some facts about cats.

Then there are examples of different cat expressions and step by step instructions on how to draw cats in different positions, such as curled up, standing or stretching. There are templates to fill in with patterns and suggestions of different accessories and outfits to draw on your cats.
While this drawing book isn't marketed as for children, my children, aged 6 and 9, wanted to try out some of the drawing prompts and the instructions were simple enough for them to follow.

Doodled Cats is a cute book which could provide hours of fun drawing and coming up with new characters and designs. It would make a great gift for any cat lover.

This is a fun, interactive book which would make a great gift for a kid who enjoys drawing or a cat lover of any age. It's full of Gemma Correll's unique, quirky style.

Doodled Cats is a fun art book by Gemma Correl. The book delivers exactly what it promises; doodled cats. It includes everything from funny comics by the author to fun tutorials, guides, and prompts. I enjoyed the comics by the artist so much that I rather wish there were a few more of those, to be honest.
This is a fun and quick guide, but it includes many unique ways of getting a person to think different about doodles. From half-finished works the reader is supposed to finish, to silly prompts and ideas. They made the whole thing fun, while still being informative. I probably don’t need to point out how difficult that would be to balance out.
I think for me, my favorite chapter would have to be the third chapter, appropriately titled ‘it’s a cat world.’ It has cats in funny clothing, anthropomorphized cats, cats & dogs together, and so much more. It had me giggling at more than one point, which I suspect was the author’s goal.
If you’re looking for an art book that’ll help you relax and let yourself doodle, then this is the perfect book for you. Especially if you love cats, but that was probably obvious, wasn’t it?

Kind of cute book, kids would probably love it, and adults could use it for ideas for cards or just playing around with pen, pencil or marker. If you like cats a lot this is probably something that would appeal. I think it is sweet and my grandchildren would certainly use it.

Are you a cat person? You will fall in love with this book if you love to doodle too. Illustrations are basic so any age can use them for their entertainment. You can then use these doodles to make your cat into a different characters too. I found it to be a great stress-reducer in addition to a time-killer.

A wonderfully fun step=by-step drawing guide, packed with ideas and humour. Well worth a look for a doodling cat person.

The first part of this book are things like random cat facts, how to know you’re a cat person, etc. Honestly I mostly skimmed this section because while the silly lists and facts were cute, they, weren’t what I wanted the book forr - I wanted doodles. In fact this section made me a bit nervous that I would end up not liking the book.

The rest of the book is a mix of cat doodles and instructions for how to doodle them yourself. When I finally got to this section, I became much happier with the book. The doodle tips definitely helped me. I’ve struggled with how to doodle kitty bodies and while I am no pro now, I do feel more confident that I can at least doodle some basic cats in different positions now.

I got and read both this and the dog version at the same time. For those of you who are both cat and dog people or who just want a book about doodling them, you will find some repeated content. There’s a section of doodles about dogs and cats that is identical in the two books. Even a project in the book (doodling on a coffee mug) is esentially identical (cat or dog stretched out around the mug with way too many legs).

I liked the instructional aspect of the book better than the stuff that felt like filler. This would be a very short book without it, so I see why it’s there. I just would have preferred those pages be used for more tips and tricks. Personal preference though.

DOODLED CATS is one of my new faves, with scads of exercises for artists — or artist wannabes — who love kitties. I fall into both categories and am enamored of this sweet book which also shows you how to “cat doodle” a mug. What fun lies ahead! The author Gemma Correll is a social media mega star and this darling book demonstrates why. 5/5

I happened to receive this ARC right before a long car trip. I have to thank Ms. Correll for a much smoother ride as Doodled Cats kept my son busy for hours. He loved learning to draw all the different breeds of cats. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

Fun and easy. I’ve used this book to design a little cat motif for each of my cat loving friends. I’ll use these to illustrate cards and email I send with the cats reflecting the topic of conversation. Seek out the dog version of this book too!

Doodled Cats: Dozens of clever doodling exercises and ideas for Cat People by Gemma Correll is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This is such a fun book for any age. Lots of cartoon cats, just being their proud selves, and lots of fun facts about cats and cat owners, LOL. This also shows the reader how to make these cute cats, the accessories, and more yourself. It is a delightful book that will bring out the doodler in everyone. So cute!

Cats, cats, cats. Cordell leads us into the world of the catbeast. For the enthusiast there are few new facts - but they are still interesting and entertaining. However the main draw is - the main draw and Cordell does not disappoint. Leading us through the expressions of cats, the types of cats, the poses of cats Cordell helps to build our skills until we are unleashed into the ultimate creative cat experience anthropomorphism. She makes this daunting step seem logical and fun. A great book for the cat enthusiast and artist alike. More please.

Doodled Cats
Gemma Correll

Thank you to Netgalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and Gemma Correll for providing an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After having so much fun with my copy of Doodled Dogs, I wanted to check out Doodled Cats as well. This book is worth purchasing just for Gemma Correll’s drawings which are so funny and display so much personality. With just a few strokes, Correll can make cats happy, sad, snarky, or content.

The format and structure of Doodled Cats and Doodled Dogs is similar. Doodled Cats has four parts--Part I: All About Cats (the cat-toid spread is very wry but I learned some new information about cats, too), Part II: Doodled Cats Step by Step, Part III: It’s a Cat’s World, and Part IV: Cat Doodle Templates. The Bonus Project describes how to make a doodled cat coffee mug and is the same bonus project in Doodled Dogs.

My favorite section presents the step-by-step drawings. Correll has written instructions paired with drawings, and in each drawing what you are supposed to do is in red and what was done in a previous stage is in black. The instructions are easy to follow and definitely fun. Even though I am an atrocious artist, my doodled cats have a cuteness about them. (But boy, the Sphynx was hard for me!)

Sample doodles show cats in hats, cats in clothing, anthropomorphic cats, cats doing activities, and, of course, cats in boxes! Several pages have “plain” cat doodles so that you can decorate them with the accessories or patterns you choose.

In pages that make me laugh out loud, Correll collects classic cat-dog illustrations paired with perfectly hilarious captions. Perhaps my favorite has one of Correll's famous pugs saying to a cat in earmuffs, “Will you be my girlfriend?” “Can't hear you,” replies the cat.

I have purchased several how-to art books, and Correll's are the only ones I’ve read where I’ve had lots of fun with the text and activities. Doodled Cats is perfect for so many people: Gemma Correll fans, cat lovers, and people who enjoy doodling/zentangle books.

I had previously read Gemma Correll's Doodling for Cat People and thoroughly enjoyed it, hence why I requested Doodled Cats. A second helping of adorable cat drawings? What's not to love! Like the first book it was incredibly charming and made me want to draw cats - and more importantly made me believe I could draw cats, and no matter what they turned out looking like it would be OK. Highly recommended for all the creative cat lovers in your life!

I received a digital ARC from the publisher via Netgalley.

Doodled Cats by Gemma Correll

Who hasn’t found themselves doodling on the side of a piece of paper at one time or another? When I saw this book I knew it would be fun since I am definitely a cat person. The drawings are more cartoon and fun than realistic but give creative ideas for embellishing, anthropomorphizing and even patterning felines. I might even try the idea of how to create a mug of my own with a cat doodled on it.

I can see this for children or for adults but it would not be for someone wanting to draw realistic felines. There is also scientific information about facts that I found rather interesting.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Doodled Cats/ Doodled Dogs by Gemma Correll are interactive art books that encourage the reader to draw in them. Each is divided into four parts. Part 1 is all about the animal in question, including humourous factoids, signs you are a cat/dog person, and types of cats/dogs. Part 2 teaches how do doodle specific breeds. Part 3 is about doodling anthropomorphic animals and animals with clothes or costumes. The fourth and final section gives templates and prompts for getting creative.

Overall, I enjoyed these books. My cubs enjoyed them moreso. I wasn't a particularly huge fan of this art style. It isn't bad, just not my cuppa. My cubs adored them though! I wish there had been more step-by-step selections. Nicky and a few of the others have great free-hand and can use the completed picture to go by. I liked the cat one most, being the cat person that I am. I loved the sleeping cat, and the cats in boxes.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you, NetGalley for the preview of this Digital ARC.

This is such an adorable book for cat lovers of all ages. I have always been a fan of Gemma Correll and I am so happy that I requested this book.

What a SILLY fun book. While no one NEEDS to doodle cats, I am firmly behind the idea that everyone should know how to doodle one given the prompt in an impromptu pictionary game. The directions were clear and concise, yet blatantly encourage the mind to explore and be adventurous. When opening my page of test doodle cats, aiming to get to another note, my coworkers "oohed" and "ahhed" asking if I really drew them, pushing this to even more of a success since they took little to no time to do, and managed to impress many.

I'm a sucker for Gemma Correll, so when this title appeared on Netgalley, I couldn't resist checking it out. It's a very cute book combining some of Correll's cartoons and drawings with pages that allow the reader to doodle their own little cats -- my only complaint was that it's pretty darn near-identical to Doodled Dogs. Cartoonists gotta make a living somehow, though, and I can respect that.

The first time I saw Gemma Correll’s work was on a button which had a cat lying on its back instructing you to pour the coffee straight in.  I loved it. Naturally I had to take a look at Doodled Cats. I can’t draw - anyone will tell you this - but I had tons of fun following Gemma Correll’s instructions and prompts.  The results were cute, funny and not nearly as shameful as I feared. It was extremely relaxing to create doodles based on my cats and those of my friends. It was a wonderful way to destress.  Will you become a professional artist with Doodled Cats? No, but you are guaranteed to have fun, smile and laugh. In this day and age that is enough of a reward.

I simply can't say enough fun things about it! GO out and buy it now please..... and get the Doodled Dogs while you're at it!

I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

What a fun book for all cat lovers! I'm not an artist but who doesn't like to doodle? Thanks to this book, I have advanced from my lifetime of typical flower doodles to my beloved cats. LOL

The author makes it so simple and the various expressions you can draw on the cats made me smile. And there are different breeds of cats to draw, all so easy to do. Plain cats to fancy cats, you decide how to fix them too.

I already have plans to give a copy of this book to a special person who loves to draw and is a cat person. I know she will love it. It makes a purrfect gift!

Doodled Cats by Gemma Correll is an adorable book for kids or cat lovers of any age. From the title you may think it is a book solely on drawing cats, but not so! This book has guided illustration, of course, but it also has cat facts, cat comics, and cat activities to do in the book itself. Even an adult will chuckle at the cat cartoons. As someone who is not an illustrator, the directions on how to draw cats and the suggestions of what to add to the cat drawing are hugely helpful, so I can add to my Ed Emberly drawings I can presently do. Those I actually did learn as a kid. If you love cats or drawing.... pick the books up, give it to a beloved child and then borrow it back, so you can practice!

This was a great fun and educational read. Me and my children (aged 8 and 9) loved drawing the fun cat doodles together.

Funny gift for the catlady in your life, especially if she likes drawing. Though it can hardly be called a book on how to draw, the exercises are fun. I did find it rather short and think there could be a couple more drawings and exercises.
