Description

Move into the Present Room and Enjoy Your Life

“The Three Rooms is a heartfelt seminal text which addresses self-understanding in spatial and temporal terms, simple enough for a child to understand, yet deep enough to awaken a true spiritual seeker.”
—Dr. Michael R. Cunningham, Chancellor, National University System

Most of us are sleepwalking, focusing on the physical world when we should be paying attention to our inner selves, and to being in the present. The Three Rooms will help readers awaken and align with their Higher Self. The book uses the metaphor of rooms to represent places our thoughts go: backwards to the Past Room, forward to the Future Room, or now in the Present Room. In the Present Room, there are no regrets of the past or fears of the future; it is the ideal state “where we can find joy, peace, acceptance, and compassion,” among other positive emotions. That is where we are meant to be.

I loved reading this book! Our thoughts have power and they influence our decisions and our feelings and reading this book was like taking time to listen, appreciate and understand just how important my thoughts are. Thank you Netgalley for the eARC.

This book starts off with a rather simple premise. There are three rooms — the Past, the Present and the Future. When we visit the Past Room, we are thinking negative thoughts which lead to negative emotions, such as regret, resentment, anger and guilt. Then we dwell on the thoughts that took us to the past room and we become fixated and stay there. Sometimes you don’t even know that you are stuck in the Past Room. In the Future Room, we worry about what might happen and experience stress. Pessimists live in the Future Room, expecting the worst to happen.

The Present Room is where you want to be with love, compassion and joy. Only there can you align with our Higher Self or the Source. This is where optimists live.

The Three Rooms explains why you want to be in the Present Room and how to do it. It is our feelings which inform us what room we are currently in. Murphy includes personal anecdotes and cultural references which make his points much more relatable and meaningful. I enjoyed reading this book and found a lot of wisdom within its pages.

Thank you to NetGalley and Greenleaf Book Group for an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

It is an interesting book and also a useful one, but sometimes it is kind of repetitive with the same ideas. Worth reading it though.

The Three Rooms is a wonderful book that shows us how to live in the present moment by separating our awareness from those negative thoughts we tend to identify ourselves with.
Using the analogy of three rooms (The Past Room, The Present Room, and the Future Room), the book proposes that we are not our thoughts and shows us how to let go of the negative thoughts in the Past Room and instead be an observer, and how we can align with our HIgher Self which exists in the Present Room.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
