Abby is moving across the world to get away from her past only to find herself uncertain about it. When she gets to an Australian small town she finds her boss dead... murdered most likely. Abby love for mysteries, coffee and books makes her very likable character. Lighthearted, cozy and humorous will be a great way to describe it.

I LOVE this book. The writing flowed, the story drew me in immediately and the characters were incredibly likable. Abby flies halfway around the world to start a new life as a small-town newspaper reporter in Australia. Her first assignment is supposed to be about cake, of all things, but instead she finds herself investigating the murder of her new boss. This is sincerely the perfect cozy mystery. It is fast-paced, lighthearted, fun and engaging. I will be keeping my eye out for more books by Sonia Parin.

“End of the Lane” by Sonia Parin had me by the cover with its atmospheric illustration, a cute doggy and the phrase “cozy mystery.” And the story had me hooked too!

Abby Maguire transfers to a new city for a reporter’s job in small town Eden, which turns out to be less of a paradise than expected, because instead of finding a hot tip for a front page lead, she discovers her new boss’ body. And ... she’s the main suspect, while being effectively unemployed. Not a great way to start a new life, eh? But she endears the reader, as do other quirky story characters, as she sleuths for clues to prove her innocence. Loved it! 5/5

A lovely and entertaining cozy mystery. It’s well written, with a likeable cast of characters and a lovely setting.
I loved the. Plot, the heroine and her canine companion.
I look forward to read other instalment in this series.

This is the first book in A Dear Abby Cozy Mystery series and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it! The story starts with Abby driving from the airport to Eden, and she’s talking to the dog! As the story proceeds, Doyle, the dog, and Abby form a strong bond. Throughout the story, there are one-sided conversations between Abby and Doyle. And… Doyle seems to understand each and every word of what Abby is saying. He nods his head, indicating a No, or grins, like a human – truly a man’s best friend, eh?

The quirks of Eden’s residents is hilarious. When the rumor spreads that Abby might have killed her employer, Mitch, the pub’s owner asks Abby if she killed Dermot. Then there is this incident where Doyle goes missing in the pub. And everybody starts searching for a dog. Markus, Mitch’s brother, finds Doyle, but when Mitch asks “Has anyone seen a dog?”, they all look at Markus, then at Mitch, nod their head and say “No”. Markus has found Doyle but there is no dog in the pub!

Then there is Faith, an employee at the Gazette, who later on, turns out to be Abby’s best buddy. Joshua Ryan, the detective who first arrived on the scene of the murder, warns Abby not to don her detective/crime reporter hat and solve the mystery. But secretly, he wants her to help him solve the case. Sebastian Cavendish, Dermot’s grandson, is on friendly terms with Abby – even invites her home for dinner. Joyce, the cafe owner, helps Abby to narrow down the list of suspects.

Quirky, gossipy yet loving – this is how I would describe the people of Eden. The only thing that I felt missing was romance. How I wish there were tiny sparks flying between Ryan and Abby or Sebastian and Abby. Since this is the first book in the series, you never know – maybe, there is some romance in the next book.

How can I not mention the Lamington’s cake! That is the main attraction of the story! Abby’s first assignment was the weekend’s bake sale – the Lamington’s cake – sponge cake dipped in chocolate sauce and rolled in desiccated coconut. Sounds delicious! There is a recipe of the same at the end of the book.

The writing was informal and neat. I loved the author’s writing style. The plot and the story are marvelous. The ending was unexpected and good. Abby does prove to be a good crime reporter! Each and every character in the book play an important role in the story. It goes without saying that Doyle was a cute little darling – the star of the story. Abby is the second best character in the story – her detective skills are excellent. If Abby is second best, then who is first, you ask? Doyle, of course!

End of the Lane is a cute, charming and wonderful cozy mystery.

End of the Lance is a well written cozy mystery. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the author's writing. Mystery fans should enjoy this one.

A good weekend read. Just enough suspense to keep the sotry interesting. Showing up for her first day on a new job, in a new country puts Jane in the middle of a murder investigation. The town folk rally around and the murderer is a complete surprise

This intriguing historical novel is about the complicated relationship between sisters. 'My Sister, Myself' by Jill Treseder takes place in Britain after the sisters and their family fled from Hungary in 1956. The Hungarian Revolution had begun, Russian tanks were in the streets trying to crush the Communists. The family was forced to flee from Hungary because their father was an underground reporter for the resistance. Their father was a wanted man. Shortly after their arrival in London, the girls found that they just did not fit. While struggling to assimilate into their new life their dad was murdered. The strain of moving to London and the revelation of family secretes fragmented Katalin's and Marika's relationship. Both girls were sent to a private school where the sister's relationship became even worse. Katalin and Marika hated each other. Katalin was an ambitious student with hopes of becoming a dancer and Marika was an unholy terror. Eventually Marika was kicked out of private school. With the help of an aunt, Marika finished school. Katalin struggled, she was not able to bond with her aunt. Both girls lives were a mess. 'My Sister, Myself' followed both sisters into their adulthood. I liked how the author related to the sisters giving the reader an insight into the psychology of each girls behavior. I did not particularly like Katalin or Marika but I understood them. This well written novel gave me an appreciation of the struggles that these sisters faced. NetGalley sent me this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you it was a great read.

This was a very entertaining cozy mystery any fellow lover of cozies will enjoy. The author spends a great tale that sucks you in. And great way to spend a rainy evening, inside a suspenseful but light novel.

A cool sometimes hilarious and captivating cozy mystery with a truly motivated reporter who needed to know all. Abby has one of those nature that is inquisitive from birth, she just can’t help getting up in peoples business, but she is also cool with it. As she quickly became at home in the quaint little village, as she tries to uncover the truth behind the death of her new boss. This book was interesting, entertaining and it vastly captivates your imagination, making it a nice cozy afternoon read.

Humor- und schwungvoll kommt dieses Buch daher, sehr lebendiger Schreibstil. Sehr liebevoll ausgearbeitet, was Handlung, Charaktere und deren Bezieheungen zueinander angeht. Macht definitiv Lust auf weitere Bände.

I loved this debut cozy mystery! The charcters are done to perfection, the humor is just right and the sleuth was full of twist and turns to keep me guessing. . The author has Doyle Abby's dog written as a main character and I love their relationship.

This is the first book in A Dear Abby Cozy Mystery series . Abby has a new assignment to cover of baking for the Gazette she works for as a journalist. Instead Abby becomes involved in a murder and is determined to piece together the clues to determine the rightful suspect. The sleuth was excellent as it unfolded with many clues for the reader. Abby proves to be a good sleuth and her adorable sidekick Doyle the dog is a wonderful companion to the story. The police detective is actually likable and the supporting charcters are rich and all add to the story.

I look forward to further books in this wonderful series. Very well done to the author. Every element of the perfect cozy mystery !

This is a wonderful quick read and beginning to a series. I really enjoyed this mystery, it has several twists and turns along the way. I never suspected the killer or why they did it. I love Abby’s character, how she is changing her life after heartbreak. I also love how she rescued the little dog. Okay, I will admit it I just love the little dog and his personality. He is probably my favorite character although Abby and other characters are very likable. The setting of a small town although not in America still seems very relatable to me being from a small town. I recommend this book to other mystery lovers.

End of the Lane by Sonia Parin

This is the very first book I have read from this author and I am honestly surprised that I had not heard of her at the time I read this. I am giving this review late but really wanted to share my opinion on it. I found this to be very refreshing. While I do not mind reading books that contain graphic language and sex,it is rare to find a mystery novel that has nothing of the sort. Unless you are reading a Christian novel.
Abby Maguire is moving to a new town and a new job. Everything seems to be perfect and she is certainly not afraid to have conversations with her dog Doyle and he has no problem showing in his expressions how he feels. However, when Abby arrives she finds her boss dead.... Abby must put her sleuthing skills to bat. Except, wait, Abby is the suspect? It can’t be..... what will Abby do now? The writer pulls you in with a tenacious writing ability and the story flows with every twist. I read this in one sitting because it kept my interest throughout. This is one that I would want my friends and family to read.
