Description

What Can I be Today?" was conceived on one of the hottest days of the summer at a book show in Detroit. Riley and I were talking about the dreams that all kids have about what they could be when they grow up and who better than Charlie to help us turn those daydreams into reality!

Andy Gutman is the author of Even, Charlie the Caterpillar and Pop Lullaby. His greatest accomplishment is his daughter Riley, who becomes more amazing with each passing day. Andy is a songwriter, writer, poet but mostly a dreamer. Andy tries to see the beauty in the world and the good in everyone.

Special thanks to Riley Claire Gutman for helping to create the concept for this book. Finally please give thanks Thomas Daniel and Cameron Klein for their contributions that bring Charlie to life!

Bright, colourful illustrations. Very clear and easy to understand for younger readers. My daughter particularly enjoyed it

This book is adorable and hilarious. The illustrations are simple but the colors are bright. I love the little in between pages for doodles. SPOILER! I love that this book included my personal dream to be a landlord and collect rent! #goals A nice twist from the usual slew of potential life careers and I enjoyed reading the positive self affirmations of the main character. Such a fun/funny read with my daughter. I could see this being the perfect gift to give if you're the cool Aunt or Uncle. A nice addition to any fun kids little library.

The book What Can I Be Today is a fun story and the book is filled with vivid and colorful pictures. It creates an atmosphere that is fun and engaging as well as an atmosphere of play and imagination. I love that the main character is a caterpillar, which is a small insect but his imagination of who he can be makes him anything but something small. He turns into a butterfly and wants to share the moral that everyone has potential to be anything that they can dream to be. Its a fun story that I believe children will love to read time and time again.

What Can I Be Today? is a delightful book that encourages children to dream of what they want to be when they grow up. The book is beautifully illustrated with first a caterpillar and other insects. The illustrations are colorful and child friendly. The prose rhymes, which as a pediatric speech language pathologist, meets the needs of many of my clients for literacy goals. The prose on the e-book was simply words, with no illustrations, so perhaps the bound book is different. A few small illustrations on those pages would help tie in the prose to the picture to the opposite page. The book also includes a blank page where a child can draw what they aspire to. Also included are coloring pages for children, to keep them engaged, while working on their fine motor skills. Perfect for a younger child!

Thanks to #NetGalley for an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This would be a great gift for a birthday or holiday! Four stars!

Another great book by Andy Gutman! This story follows Charlie, the caterpillar, though all the things he could be. Anything is possible if you dream it. Gutman encourages young readers to think about what they could be when they grow up and give that job to Charlie. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and cute.

This would make a fine addition to any child's library. The only complaint I have about the story (and why I can't give it 5 stars) is that Gutman uses "fireman" instead of fire fighter.

Thank you NetGalley and Dog Ear Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy.
