Wow. I was completely floored by this book. This is one of the most complex stories I've read in a long time.

Dr. Denilyn Rossi is a psychology professor - but she still deals with debilitating fear and PTSD over events that happened over 8 years ago. This character is so incredibly multi-faceted, it takes the length of the entire book to unravel all her complexities. And there are loads of plot twists along the way. Despite how intricate her character was, I was still able to relate and empathize with her on many levels throughout the book.

The plot. Wow, I don't even know where to start, or what I can say without giving too much away. However you think this story is going to go, you're probably wrong. There will be a multitude of twists and turns before you reach the end, and the suspense keeps you turning pages.

I have not read one of Yttrup's previous books, but I greatly enjoyed her writing style and will definitely be checking out more of her work. The themes of fear and faith she weaves throughout this story were masterfully done, touched my heart in so many ways, and really make the reader think.

Overall, Yttrup pens a complex and unique novel of suspense and faith and knocks it out of the ballpark. I highly recommend this book!

I had a hard time getting into the story line. By chapter five it got better and I was hooked. I loved the mystery of the story line and the ending.

Dr. Denilyn Rossi wrote a book on bullying. Then she picked up a stalker. Years later Deni once again is feeling out of control. She feels eyes watching her all of the time. How can it be her stalker? He hasn't been released from jail yet, or has he? Once again Deni's life is in danger. How can this be happening to her again?

This is author Ginny Yttrup's first suspense book and I have to say I was hooked from the very beginning! It did take me a bit to get used to the flow of the book. There are flashbacks and then present scenes so pay attention to the dates at the beginning of chapters. Denilyn wasn't my favorite character at first, but as the story developed she matured and became more likable. I really liked the spiritual lessons that Deni learned and how her faith matured. CONVERGENCE kept me turning the pages and not wanting to put it down until the end. It was exciting and well developed. If you are a suspense fan then I definitely recommend it to you!

Convergence definitely falls into the suspense category. Plenty of ingenious plot twists will thrill suspense fans. The story line is intriguing – Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi deals with her past and present after a brutal attack left her emotionally scarred. Now her stalker is back, and Denilyn has to confront her fears head on.

While the book had elements of suspense, the writing style tended to slow the pace of the action at times. Lots of wordy description of scenery and other minor plot points seemed to bog me down as I read. The story took place in three timelines, and at some points it worked, but in other places it became confusing as to what was happening in each timeline.

Convergence is an enjoyable read despite with some of my stylistic opinions above. Observing Denilyn’s character change from the first page to the last kept me invested in the novel. Plus, there are quite a few shocking twists which is a must for any suspense novel.

I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

“Convergence” by Ginny Yttrup was a great read! I have to admit, though, I had a hard time getting into this book, but once I got further in, I was hooked! I couldn’t wait to see how the story ended and what really was going on with Denilyn, the main character.

Denilyn Rossi is a psychology professor who is trying to deal with her past. She is trying to put everything behind her and get on with life, as she tells her students. However, that is easier said than done! Adelia Sanchez is ready to confront her past and get on with life. Both of their lives converge, eventually. This book had a couple of great twists that I really didn’t see coming.

This was the first book I read by Ginny Yttrup, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more books by her. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean, suspense novels.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

CONVERGENCE. by..Ginny...Yttrup
Anticipation or fear, a dread, that she is not in control, something as simple as a pen, is not in its place, where is it. Deni teaches a class of adults in the .introduction of Psychology., the file is not on her lap top. A stalker from before, is he back, he is to be in jail, after she suffered a brutal arrack. A book deal dealing with bullying, the appearances, then life changed, and she doesn’t want anyone to notice her. Compelling story, of the past and present, Is given to us. We have an inside look at her, her life, how will she move forward again, if it is another stalker. Compelling one to read, a life before that had so much to offer her. The author did a good job, and will look for more by her. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net.Galley and Barbour.

I always enjoy Ginny's book as they have so much more going on in them and this book was no exception flashing between past and present and following several different stories. I really enjoyed the characters, but caught on pretty quickly with who was behind the modern stuff. Still a good read, solid characters and lots to think about!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and it’s her first suspense book. I think it was definitely a good move on her part and mine. The story was interesting. Deni is a psychology professor who tells others dealing with bullying situations that “The past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us” (location 506). Yet she isn’t able to put her own counsel into practice very well. It’s a little eerie watching her as she wonders if she’s losing her mind.
The story moves from past to present and back frequently and between three women’s lives. It can be a little confusing at first but things become clearer as they converge. I wish there had been a little more on Willow.
The author uses a lot of vivid imagery. “Like a child hiding in the folds of her mother’s skirt, the morning sun shrinks behind dark, billowing clouds, seeming to have forgotten its own power” (location 94). I enjoyed it but it sometimes felt a little too much for me.
This was an enjoyable suspense book. There was plenty of action along with a twist or two. It showed how fear really can keep you a prisoner and that there is hope to break the cycle of fear. Deni had some good friends to support her and help her and it showed how necessary that is for us too….to have some people who know us well who are there for us when times are hard.
Thank you to Shiloh Run Press and Netgalley for providing me with a complimentary e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Ginny L Ytturp is one of my must read authors. I love her imagination, her story telling ability and her writing. I savored CONVERGENCE. I'm sure you will too.

Wow! This book will certainly be making my top reads for 2019 list! Incredible! With just the right blend of predictability mixed with the totally unexpected, Convergence is a page-turner you won't be able to put down!

Deni is a psychologist who deals with crippling fear and panic attacks following a traumatic event in her past. I will allow you to find out the details yourself when you read, but in the story Deni has to deal with analyzing if the fear she is experiencing is her PTSD acting up, or if she has truly found herself in danger again. Unfortunately when she faced her initial trauma, she didn't have the emotional or physical support she should have had. Instead, her fears including actual threats were dismissed which lead to a whole new gamut of emotional turmoil. Now years later, she has an even larger hurtle to determine if should trust her instincts or not.

Several years ago when I was in high school I dealt with a guy who started to stalk me. It started out when I met him in the hallway one day and said hello to him while walking to my class. I had seen him before but didn't know who he was. I was just being polite. Immediately after that he started showing up almost everywhere including my work. He would hug me for too long as if I was his girlfriend. I wouldn't hug him back but I wouldn't fight him because I was afraid to make a scene. He would show up at my lunch table with my friends and have his hands on me. Multiple times he would show up with his hand in a bandage and say it was because he lost his cool and either punched a locker or wall or whatever happened to be in front of him. One day I saw the evidence of him punching a hole through a wall. So needless to say, I was afraid of him. I told my friends I didn't want him near me and he scared me, but he acted really sly and they thought he was just nice. They even laughed about it and said they thought he was cool. I won't share any more details, but I will say that eventually they saw his true colors too and I was able to get him to leave me alone. I share this because this story really brought me back to that (So yes, this story CAN be a strong PTSD trigger). I wanted him to leave me alone but the people I thought would support me thought I was being unreasonable. It made me question myself if I was over-reacting or if he was a real threat. These are the types of thoughts that ran through Deni's mind, as her husband--the person who was supposed to be her biggest supporter and protector-- dismissed her fears and was absent when she needed him most. Sometimes the wounds from those we love are actually the ones that scar us the most.

This story is full of twists and turns and is sure to keep your mind racing. This is my first time reading a book by Ginny Yttrup, but from what I've read this is her first book in the Christian suspense/thriller genre and I never would have guessed. She writes like a truly seasoned suspense pro! This story had me on the edge of my seat and I highly recommend as a must-read!

Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi was attacked in the past, and she fears her stalker has returned. She is good at advising her students that their past can either haunt or propel them, but Deni isn’t so great at following her own advice, especially when suspicious events increase. Is she losing her mind, or is someone out to get her?

Vivid imagery, unexpected plot twists, and an intriguing story line combine in the author’s first attempt at a suspense novel. It certainly shows promise. Overdetailing does slow the pace in some spots. There are three timelines, which was interesting, but it was a bit confusing to follow on occasion. It took a few chapters to pull me in, but things picked up midway through. It was nice to watch Denilyn’s character grow and remind the reader that it is possible to break free from the fear cycle. Spiritual themes are woven throughout, but they are not overwhelming. And, on a side note, I love the cover!

This is a very suspenseful thriller about how stalking changes your life, how fear can limit you and how we don't really know those we believe to know and how we forget about the power that lives within us, the Holy Spirit. It's up to us to trust and follow. He's going to fight for us.

This isn't my first Ginny L Yttrup novel but it's her first suspense novel. She absolutely nailed the genre. I really couldn't ask for anything more from a suspense novel. The main character is likable, the actions are believable and the tension couldn't have been any higher. I especially loved the way the author revealed details by going between prior years and current day events. There were spectacular plot twists that had me going back to re-read passages with the thought of "did that just happen?!!". Excellent suspense novel.

Convergence absolutely rendered me speechless at the perplexing, electrifying conclusion except to say, "What just happened here!?" I even had to go back and re-read several of the chapters devoted to a specific heroine to fully "get" it! I felt as twisted as a pretzel as the author took me on a suspense-filled roller-coaster of a ride unlike any other.

Deni has major issues with fear for good reason. Years after being attacked by a stalker she has begun to have panic attacks, flashbacks, and strange vibes that someone is once again watching her...following her. I SO admired her character—fearless, but terrified at the same time. Oxymorons, I know, but using faith as her shield she fights to empower herself over her fears. With the exception of her empathetic husband, she has a support group of great friends that I became attached to as well.

Very impressed by Yttrup's first attempt at suspense writing, I highly recommend this exhilarating, original page-turner!

This novel was complex, and I found it somewhat difficult to follow at times. A lot of the story features back and forth storylines that confused me. I had to pay especially close attention to the dates at the beginning of each chapter. I kept on reading as I really was interested in seeing how the storylines would “converge.” Yttrup gives enough clues during the story, that you can probably figure out the ending—but there are still some surprises along the way.

Convergence is an extremely intense psychological thriller that keeps the readers’ minds racing throughout the novel. Ginny L. Yttrup tells the story of Dr. Dennilyn Rossi who was the victim of a stalker who tried to take her life. Even though he is still in prison, eight years later, history seems to be repeating itself. The search for answers and an end to the fear and danger Dr. Rossi is experiencing turns out like no one would have expected.

The story takes place in three different storylines, so at times it was a little confusing what was happening, mainly in Adelia’s storyline through the book. This book may be a trigger for people who have experience with a stalker because it is such an authentic story, and the main character deals with a husband who does not take the threats against her seriously. This book kept me in suspense and wanting to find out what would happen next. I look forward to reading more by Ginny L. Yttrup.

The twists, turns and suspense in Ginny L. Yttrup's novel, "Convergence," keep the reader interested and wanting more to the very end. Yttrup weaves a plot that's predictable enough to be believable with enough surprises to keep things interesting. A master storyteller, Yttrup creates rich, real characters with whom readers can easily identify. As a psychology professor and therapist, main character Denilyn's mantra is, "The past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us." Her belief is put to the test as a traumatic comes back to haunt her and she decides if and how she will move forward.
The novel's title, "Convergence" is a great description of the way Yttrup is able to offer a suspenseful story while at the same time showing readers what it looks like to process trauma with a therapist and overcome PTSD by moving forward.
Yttrup's natural, but rich writing style weaves word pictures that keep the reader wanting more. For example, one character nursed "wounds so deep they hemorrage[d} hatred." At another point, Yttrup made this comparison: "LIke a child hiding in the folds of her mother's skirt, the morning sun shrinks behind dark, billowing clouds, seeming to have forgotten its own power."
For those who enjoy suspense novels, this one won't disappoint. While it has all the elements of true suspense that keeps the reader on the edge of the seat, "Convergence" offers wholesome reading and biblical truth without being preachy.

This is the definition of convergence “Convergence is when two or more things come together to form a new whole, like the convergence of plum andapricot genes in the plucot. Convergence comes from the prefix con-, meaning together, and the verb verge, which means to turn toward.”
The events in this book come together to form a whole, you as the reader can try to see how Denilyn’s life events come together so that she can know who attacked her many years ago when she was first married.
Denilyn is an author and an educator, who wrote a book about bullying, whose own life was impacted by being bullied.
Denilyn was stalked by a stranger who attacked her, leaving her with panic attacks and PTSD. She had started recovering and getting her life back when she started feeling uneasy and forgetful, and she feared that her jailed attacker had returned.
Who is really attacking her?

What an exciting read! This story had my complete and full attention from beginning to end. The nail-biting suspense had my heart pounding and anxiety skyrocketing. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. And then came a mind-blowing revelation that left me stunned. I had to set my Kindle down for a little while to digest it all and when I picked it back up I was turning the pages even faster than before. It was a brilliant suspense!

Following Denilyn and Adelia, it goes back and forth between the two POVs and the past and present. I really had to pay attention to the dates at the top of the chapters so I wouldn't get confused where I was or who I was with. In the beginning, I did find myself enjoying one of the POVs more than the other.

This was my first time reading a book by this author and it certainly won't be the last. It was an incredible multi-layered suspense that I'm going to be thinking about for a long time. I highly recommend!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

After someone stalked and attacked Denilyn, it hurt her marriage, emotions, and faith. Now, she has worked through it, or thought she has. Soon, the events begin again, and she has to come to grips with something she has been trying to avoid in Ginny L. Yttrup's Convergence.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the book, as I had never heard of Ginny Yttrup, but I am glad I read it. From the start, I was caught up in the story. It has a gripping plot, and the descriptions let you imagine what is going on as the events unfold. I enjoyed each page. The only problem I had was that just as I planned to stop and take a break, there was something that happened that made me want to read another chapter and find out what came next.

I also like that the book has a thread of encouragement woven throughout the story. Deni has to learn to be bold. To not cower in fear, but trust in God for His guidance and provision. Several other characters help her to rediscover her faith. What she goes through can be helpful to readers, even if what they are facing isn't as terrible as Deni's situation.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I was intrigued to request an advance review copy of this suspense novel after reading the book’s description about a psychology professor who is overwhelmed by fear and anxiety after her experience with a stalker. One of the strengths of the book is definitely the inner journey of the protagonists in confronting their fears. The book skips around between different characters and points in time so it can be a little confusing to the reader but was still engaging enough for me to persist with the plot. I found out later that this was a first time attempt at a suspense novel by a popular author of Christian books. I am a fan of suspense novels but I don’t normally read the Christian genre. The author did a good job of balancing the two genres, especially for a first attempt. Parts of the plot were a little bit clumsy and drawn out, but the characters were well-drawn and the settings at college and white-water rafting rounded out the story well. I would be interested in reading another suspense book by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, Barbour Publishing, and the author Ginny Yttrup for an advanced electronic review copy.

Convergence by Ginny L. Yttrup is a thriller as Denilyn is being stalked by someone who may want to kill her. Denilyn is a Doctor of Psychology but what happens when she is stalked? How will she be able to deal with the trauma? Her stalker is caught and imprisoned but years later the feeling of someone watching her comes back and then other strange things begin to happen. How can it be when the stalker, Brad Mathison, is still in prison, or is he? Deni is determined, with God’s help, to take back her life and not live in fear anymore.
I really enjoyed this book and it was hard to put it down until I finished it. There are many twists and turns as the story unfolds. What may seem a diversion and not important to the story may later be a very important clue. The writer’s style is excellent in the way she goes back and forth from what happened in the past and the past relationships of the characters and then back to the present time and situation. I give this book 5 of 5 stars.

I had read one other book by Ginny Yttrup and found it very well-written and attention-keeping, so decided to try her first foray into the suspense genre. If you like adrenalin-producing, chill-worthy suspense, you will love this book! The suspense is kept up throughout the book, and Yttrup reveal secrets very sparingly. Her descriptions of the weather and locations just add to the suspense (fog, pouring rain, narrow canyons, swirling rivers). I was worn out by the end, but was glad I perservered. However, if you get nightmares after a scary movie, you probably should not read this book :-)

I could not put this down. The story was deep and complex. It was an incredible read. I enjoyed every word of this book. Ginny Yttrup has been one of my favorite authors for a while and I was very excited to review this new novel. The suspense and mystery were extremely well written. At first, I was a bit put out with all the different time frames but very soon, all the pieces (and time periods) began to converge. This really was an exceptional book all around. I do wish that there might have been a bit more romance to the book but on the other hand, it is refreshing to read a fabulous book that is not completely centered on the romance! A MUST READ!!!!

Great suspense novel. This is my first novel by this author but I will definitely be reading more. I liked the way the story altered from past to present. I also like the spirituality of the story. Thanks to Barbour Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Great Christian fiction, suspence.. Ginny does a great job keeping the story flowing even though it jumps from past to present, between two characters. Her message that all things are possible if we let God take hold of our lives is nicely woven throughout the story, but doesn't overwhelm it.

Romantic Suspense is one of my go-to genres. I love reading a good mystery and getting lost in the chase and the high tension. I know that Ginny L. Yttrup has written for Love Inspired Suspense, so I figured this would be a safe bet when it comes to reading a suspense novel. The suspense is definitely there, but it is a lot of psychological warfare in Delia's head. She has been attacked seven years ago, and the readers are lead to believe it is happening again. The stalker in the shadow issue was handled well and hiked up the tension like I expected. But . . . the two points of view from Adelia and Delia were a little confusing to follow, especially when Delia had two different time frames- 2010 and 2017. Both of the sections were written in first person and Yttrup does include the time and person's name before each switch, but sometimes I had a hard time figuring out the difference. As for the identity of the bad guy, I had a huge suspicion early on who the bad guy was because of the way he came across in the novel, and Yttrup kept throwing more clues toward him to prove me right. Overall, the concept was pretty interesting and definitely something had hadn't seen before, and the tension was realistic and had me lurking around the corner behind Delia, knowing something was about to happen. But the point of view shifts really threw me for a loop and had me doubting if I really understood the novel. I think fans of Elizabeth Goddard and Dee Henderson might enjoy the novel.

I received a complimentary copy of Convergence by Ginny L. Yttrup from Barbour Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

This is my first book by this author. It was an enjoyable read. Deni is a professor who can't seem to work through her fears from the past. She was stalked and attacked several years earlier. She is now having fears of being watched and is always looking over her shoulder.
We learn of Deni's story and also Adelia's story. The book jumps to different dates both present and past as they tell their story. You must pay attention to these jumps and dates as it relates to their story.
I was a few chapters in before I really started getting into the book. Most suspense I read is action filled. This book messed with my mind in a good way. At the halfway point things really started picking up. I was sure I knew who the stalker was. I changed my mind several times and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't know until it was revealed.
I do wish the book had been written in past tense instead of present tense. As a reader I think past tense is easier to read and the writing flows much better.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

What an exhilarating ride through the pages of this suspenseful read! Loved all the twists and turns and revelations along the way. Denilynn came alive on the pages of this read and I felt so much empathy for her. Loved her relationships with everyone, especially Jay, but Keith...for some reason that didn’t ring true to me. I have to admit that early on I suspected Ryan, right after the incident of his having moved his office, made stronger with the addition of the information about Willow. Still other suspects vied for attention but my focus remained on Ryan.
Many thanks to Ginny Yttrup, Barbour Publishing, and NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read an. ARC of this one!

What an incredible psychological thriller this book was. The book starts out with a young student and her very close friends hanging out together at the Three River Village at the River Kaweah. However, one of the students, Adelia, is missing. The case is closed and she is never found on the River. Each of students were interested in various subjects, but the primary subject was psychology. As an adult, Denilyn Rossi, becomes a psychologist, and wrote a book on bullying. Due to stalking by a former student, Deni is forced to abandon her psychologist career. And her husband left her, because he couldn’t deal with her anxiety. She eventually starts a new career of teaching psychology at the Pacific Covenant University. Deni is still fighting with anxiety and is seeing a therapist, due to the past trauma of being attacked. The attacker was convicted and sent to prison awaiting parole. So who would be sending her packages then. There were only four people who would know anything about the items that were in the packages. Deni constantly feels like someone is watching her, but she can’t seem to see whoever it is. Who is doing this to her and why? Is it possible that the wrong person is in prison? Will they ever find out what happened to Adelia? What a great psychological thriller this book is. The plot was thought out in great detail and kept the reader in constant pursuit of the truth. The writers style was one that reverted back to the previous years of the protagonist’s youth, and then came full circle to the current day. This kept the reader up on what had transpired in the past and led into present day happenings. The character development was right on point, and the reader felt as if they were right in the middle of what was happening in the story. This plot kept me guessing through the entire book, and the mystery and intrigue was there until the final climax. There is so much within this book that is great, too much to mention, so read it. I enjoyed this book very much and am looking forward to the authors next book.

I had a little bit of trouble getting into this book, but enjoyed it once it got going. There are the usual twists we look for in this type of book, and things that keep you guessing. Sometimes it’s difficult to like Deni, but you want her to be able to face her fears and then recover. The theme of letting go and letting God was welcome because that’s how many people are able to survive and move on from trauma. The way the author goes back and forth in timelines gives us insight we need to be able to understand Deni. I believe that this will be a great book for many readers! I received an ARC of this book from the author, publisher and NetGalley in return for an honest review, which this has been

I’ve read a lot of suspense books, and I have to say that this is one of my favorites so far. The author, Ginny L Yttrup , added a lot of details about the characters that brought them to life on the pages of this story. I enjoyed getting to know the main character, Denilyn, and couldn’t help but feel empathy for her because of all she was going through. I also felt that the author did a very realistic job of describing Denilyn’s emotional state since she never knew where or when she would see the person who was stalking.

Denilyn’s position as a psychologist was a very good choice of a career for her. It added depth above and beyond what I typically find in a novel of this kind since she was in a position of understanding why she felt the way she did and how she should be coping better than the typical lay person could.

The tale is told through two viewpoints: Dennilyn’s and Adelia’s. While I knew Adelia had some reason to be in the book, it wasn’t immediately apparent why , and it did seem as she might be up to no good. (Maybe she was. Maybe she wasn’t. I won’t tell!) It also goes from the present to events in the past, which is a tactic used in many books of this nature, and I find it very effective.

Overall, this is a solid Christian fiction book, and I feel it is worth every bit of the 5 star rating I gave it.

This is a psychological suspense novel. In the end, I really enjoyed the story and plot twists regarding bullying and fear. I did have problems with some of the time shifts and alliteration throughout the book. I believe the author has fallen into the “girl” books that are all the rage now with their plot twists and time shifts that they all seem to feature. While sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and you end up confused. But like I said, in the end I was glad to have read it. Just read it already!

Surviving an Assault by a Stalker

Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi is a survivor. She overcame PTSD after being attacked by a stalker. The man went to prison, but as he is soon to be released, Denilyn feels that she is again being stalked. She tells her students that the past can either haunt you, or give you a reason to move on, but now she has to apply her teaching to herself and find a way to overcome her fears again.

Adelia Sanchez is a less introspective character. She also has a past to overcome, and she takes direct action to do so signing up to take people on raft trips on the Kaweah river where her trauma occurred. The past and present come together on the river with Denilyn and Adelia facing danger and their fears.

This is a psychological thriller that can pull you in and make you feel all the panic experienced by someone being stalked and attacked. Denilyn tells her story in the first person and it is primarily her fears and how she tries to overcome them. Adelia also tells her story in the first person but there is more action. Since both characters tell their stories in the first person, it can be confusing in the early parts of the book. However, as the characters become more distinct, it’s easier to follow.

I enjoyed the book, but was disappointed that it was so easy to figure out what was happening with the stalker. It made me wonder how Denilyn could sometimes be so obtuse. The other thing I disliked about the book was Denilyn’s constant talking about her terror. Some of it was great, but it became too much after awhile.

There is a Christian element in the book that is not preachy, but a real part of the story. I thought that was the best part of the book. If you enjoy thrillers with a Christian underpinning, you’ll enjoy this book.

I received this book from Barbour Publishing for this review.

Denilyn Rossi is an author, a teacher, a psychologist. With all that going for her why is she living in fear. The traumatic event that almost cost her her life is in the past. The culprit in prison. She has family and friends protecting her, surrounding her in love, support and understanding. Yet, she hides and lives in constant hypervigilance. The inner strength she had had is gone. Her belief in a higher power is gone. She either needs to face her fears and find that higher power again or live in hiding.
Meanwhile, only her dearest and longest know friends ate aware of her struggles. Yet, someone that seems to know her has the strength and determination to make her life a living nightmare. She will have to find the strength, determination and faith to face these challenges and come out on top.
Great read. The topic is fantastic, bullying is never ok!

Convergence, a suspense/thriller novel from Ginny L. Yttrup, is a very interesting read that will at some moments keep you on the edge of your seat. This is my first book by this author.  Danilyn is a psychology professor at a small college and once had a stalker who was caught and convicted and is still in prison. Her marriage did not survive all the fear because of the stalker. But it has been years and now she finds herself being stalked again. Of course she is paralyzed by fear once again and can not deal with this. Her best friends since college days are there for her to help her with her fear. There are many turns before this book will converge to its final conclusion. It will keep you guessing as to who the culprit is. I received this book via netgalley and this review is a pleasure to give.

What a terrific novel! My time reading this novel was most enjoyable. The thing that surprises me is that, for such an educated woman, Denilyn Rossi had ignored the signs of the murderer’s psychopathy. Another thing that surprised me is that of Denilyn & Keith’s marriage. I would have thought Keith would have understood his wife’s nature from the beginning, & not have been so surprised that she was so different than he. He married a psychiatrist, yet he was a man who disliked intimacy. He didn’t want to be bothered by Denilyn’s “drama” as he called it. He didn’t want to have conversations about her traumas, both past & present. He just wanted to be happy-go-lucky, like a good-time guy. So why did he marry Denilyn? It took him a year to figure this out. And what about Denilyn, Dr. Rossi? How did she not see what kind of man she married, she of the “big brain”?
I think the title “Convergence” was a perfect name for this novel. The characters of Denilyn & Adelia converged at the conclusion. There’s quite the surprise for the reader at that point, both in terms of Adelia’s life & Denilyn’s.
This novel was a deep psychological profile of Denilyn Rossi, the traumas she sufered the last 9 years of her life, & how she became victorious over them. I consider this novel a Christian novel. God is glorified. Denilyn learns to hold fast to God, believe in His Will for her, & to step out in faith according to His Purpose.
Thank you, NetGalley & Barbour the publisher, for the opportunity to read & review this novel.

I was hooked from the dedication alone. Not many authors can do that. The whole book delivered too, it wasn’t just a hook and let down. It was the real deal that had me compulsively reading until I finished. I did figure it out before the ending, but I needed to know how it would all go down. I think fans of Terri Blackstock will really like this book. While written from first person point of view from a female, I do think guys would like Convergence as well. I found Deni to be like-able and I enjoyed getting to know her better as the book unfolded her layers. It isn’t super creepy but it did raise my heartbeat more than once. Never underestimate a female or a mother. I highly recommend Convergence!

'You drown not by falling into the river, but by staying submerged in it.' Paulo Coelho
Wow! Incredibly well written novel that had me wondering from the beginning if it would ever make sense to me. Denilyn, a psychology professor and published author, has a past that is slowly unraveled throughout this book. Stalking, assault, accidents, psychological abuse and more keep you at the edge of your seat the whole time wondering who really is behind it all. It is only as she learns that trust is a choice not a feeling, faith is believing in what you can't see and to be on the offensive is the best way to finally experience freedom!

Convergence is a powerful book that really takes you inside the victim and the journey to have freedom from fear. Yttrup tells the story backwards and it really keeps you engaged because as a reader you want all the details but they unfold slowly, but beautifully.

Denilyn Rossi was a victim of an attack and of stalking. Both have taken so much from her. She lives in fear and now seven years after the attack, the threat resurfaces. But Deni refuses to live in fear any longer. As the story unfolds you get a full glimpse of who the stalker really is and how it is about control. Deni decides to take that control back. Convergence is about how she masterfully takes that control back. The ending is so satisfying.

It is a unique book but one that is a must read. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest feedback.

Well-executed clean domestic psychological thriller.

With the past existing as a haunting shadow and the present moving along with only the force of a Midwest tornado, the lives of two women converge.

Ginny is a beast with the pen. Covering topics such as PTSD, fear, and human relationships, Convergence features the immense warfare, both spiritual and physical, one goes through when trying to survive in this world.

With all of the formulaic elements of suspense and Christian fiction, Ginny has woven an immensely powerful tale.

Highly recommended for Christian readers who want to join in on the fun of reading thrillers, while remaining rooted in their faith.

This is the first book I have read by Ginny Yttrup and her first suspense book. A job well done and I really enjoyed Convergence. There are several different timelines in this book following different characters in the span of about eight years. The main character is Denilyn who is a professor of Psychology, who used to be a psychologist before being stalked and brutally attached. After surviving she faces many difficulties and challenges causing her to change professions. In the present she starts to feel that she is being targeted again and begins remembering the events of the past. A very suspenseful story that keeps you guessing.

I did not see that coming! This story is full of information and the way that it is brought together at the end is masterful. Everyone brings a different section to the story and it is told through different perspectives. There is several shockers that I was not expecting and I appreciate this book and author even more because of it! While full of suspense I also was captivated by the strength and how each woman demonstrated that strength in this story.

One of the best suspense stories I have read in a while. Even though it has been a few days since I finished it I keep returning to different aspects of the story to see if I should have seen something before I did. and I love it when authors have me going back and questioning what I should have seen and when!

I enjoyed this story and I hope that there are more suspense stories to come from Ginny L Yttrup.

Thank you Ginny, NetGalley, Shiloh Run Press and Barbour Publishing for the chance to read this story and share my opinions!

You will be amazed by the number of plot twists in this story. It is a story of faith and friendship. Of love and loss. It is about letting go and trusting that God has everything in his perfect control. The author weaves a magnificent plot that opens a door into the brain of a psychopath. You will be hanging on to every word trying to figure out the clues as you read. It is riveting and you will not want to put it down until it is finished.

“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love, and self-control.

Deni is paralyzed by fear. Years ago a stalker almost ended her life. Now her stalker is back, but isn’t he still in jail? Adelia is also paralyzed by fear, but has come to look it in the face no matter what the outcome. With an opening that leaves you breathless, the reader traverses between timelines of these two women eagerly turning pages to find out just what connects them and what the final outcome will be. With a twist that I didn’t see coming, this is Christian suspense at its finest!

Convergence by Ginny L Yttrup is a thrilling, edge of your seat suspense novel. It dives deep into the plot twists that revolve around the lives of two different women. Before their lives converge, it can be a little confusing trying to keep track of the women and what is going on in their lives. Flipping between the past and present, and between Denilyn and Adelia's perspectives author Ginny L. Yyttup manages to build surprises into the plot that I really like! I felt for Denilyn - the trauma she had experienced in the past and the fear that she was either being stalked again or her PTSD was making her think she was. I could relate to both the main characters, their stories, and their choices.

I like the fact that this a clean mystery/suspense thriller and that there are Christian references. I would certainly recommend this book as it is well written, with vivid imagery, and great first person narrative. I love the way I got caught up in the story and thought I knew what was going to happen...only to be proven wrong!!

Convergence by Ginny L Yttrup is a suspense thriller about one woman’s fight against her stalker and returning her life to normal. Dr. Denilyn Rossi is a psychology professor who once had it all. A loving marriage and a bestselling book until its all shattered by someone who was sending her gifts, hang up phone calls. Her marriage becomes shattered and her own mental health is left in a fragile state. After many years, she is still trying to get her life back and once she feels she has a handle on things, the stalker returns. Another woman enters the story, Adelia is traveling to Three Rivers, California to take a job as a rafting tour guide. The stories of these two women are told from different time points. As the journey of these two women converge, who is the person torturing Denilyn? Can she find him and fight him once and for all? How does Adelia play into the whole story?
I loved this book. It kept me guessing on how it was playing out and where it was going. When I finished the book and looked back on all the clues, the identity of the stalker was there all along and like a really good thriller, the author has skillfully hidden them in plain view. There isn’t much I can discuss about what I liked about the book because it would give away major plot points; however, I can say that, while the book starts off slow and you aren’t quite sure what’s going on as the book jumps back and forth in time, it all becomes clear as the book reaches it the final act. I highly recommend Convergence!

Here is my (first ever!) bullet point review:

This book totally messed with my mind (primarily in a good way).

I was kept guessing throughout - but I will say, when it came down to the final chapters I discovered that was right all along! :)

I appreciated the author's first foray into suspense. It was well done overall.

I was especially thrown off for a long time (likely intentionally) by the "back cover" synopsis - it took me forever to make sense of it all, to connect the dots.

Main character Denilyn Rossi is interesting and compelling. She has truly been traumatized and you are rooting for her the whole way through. She's not unrealistically tough OR wimpy/whiny/does not play the victim...even though she of course is.

I will gladly recommend this book!

This is a great read, once you get into the story. It is written in the first person, with some chapters referring to one character and some to another. You also jump from past to present to future dates. Each chapter is marked clearly so it is easy to know whom is talking and in what time frame, however you must stay focused or you will be lost. I feel it would be easier to keep up in an actual paper copy so you can flip back and forth to each chapter to see the actual dates, however I still enjoyed it in e format.

There is much suspense, mystery, drama, healing and more in this book. Just when you think you have it all figured out, wow you are so wrong.

What a ride! This book is as twisting and emotionally charged as a trip down the Kaweah whitewater rapids! With nail-biting suspense, the unyielding pace of the narrative never relents, and although this is not a horror novel, the creep factor was real enough and the scenario so plausible on a certain level that I would not want to read this while home alone. There was enough tension to keep the pages turning at a rapid pace, and the author set up a chilling degree of apprehension. I thought that the ordeal of PTSD and the psychological aspect of trauma enhanced the story, particularly given that Denilyn Rossi was herself a psychologist. This is as much a psychological thriller as it is a suspense novel. The Christian element is mostly subtle but does become more prevalent toward the end.

My bone of contention with “Convergence” is its execution. Initially I attributed my confusion to the fact that I went into this book blind because I prefer not to read the summary, especially for this genre, but even afterward, when I did explore the synopsis, I realized that it would not have put me any farther ahead. Overall, I thought that this was a great story, but it was bogged down by too many complexities, which only multiplied as the story progressed. The shifting dual first-person narrative viewpoints and two different time settings made it difficult to stay abreast of what was happening to whom and when. Without giving any spoilers, this issue becomes even more complicated toward the novel’s denouement. Speaking of which, I had to step back and rethink the book from the beginning when the puzzle pieces began falling into place. Still, things did not quite fit for me with regard to Denilyn and Adelia. One of the main objects of psychological thrillers is to shock the reader, but in this case everything felt too contrived and bewildering, vacillating from one side to the other until the story became a Gordian knot of sorts. Nevertheless, I truly did enjoy this story and would recommend it to those who don’t mind a wild ride full of intricacies and revelations.

Wow! This is like a spider web of suspense. Ginny Yttrup really surprises me as a writer of dark suspense. I especially love that she has faith-filled characters that exhibit weakness then as growth takes place, a strength that only God will provide. This isn't just a stalker story, this is pure evil consuming the goodness of touches. There's the complexity of a lot of things going on that reflect the reality of many lives. These are realistic things that can and do happen to people, Christians included. Yttrup combines victim, fear, grief, devastating disappointment and much more in the telling of Denilyn's story. She depicts the framework of a set of years-long friendships and the unity that is built between a group of men and women.
This book is very well done. I didn't want to put it down. Special thanks to Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for my copy of the book.

I ended up really enjoying this book, but it was hard for me to get into it at first. The story has three timelines going on for most of the story. 2009 then January 2017 and May 2017, which was a little weird for awhile. Eventually, it made sense to me and I really got into.

The characters in the book were good. I enjoyed watching Deni grow into herself. I eventually had an idea of who was behind everything, but it did take awhile.

This was the author’s first book in the suspense genre, but I hope it is not her last.

If you enjoy suspense along the lines of Terri Blackstock, Brandilyn Collins, Lynette Eason, or Patricia Bradley, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

First, I'll say it was slow going. It took me quite a few chapters for the characters to connect for me ((Adelia & Denilyn). If this is the case for you, also, stick with it and you will be ever so glad you did! You are in for quite the ride! The author's ability to write such an intricate story is genius!
Denilyn is a psychology professor who teaches at the college. Denilyn has fears of a stalker in her past who is still in prison. Or, is he? Is someone stalking her again, sending gifts with deadly threats, or is she imagining things and making something out of nothing? Did she accidentally delete the program on her computer, leave her office door unlocked, or is it someone else? Is it all a result of her post-traumatic stress?
Then, there is Adelia, a friend of Denilyn's who lost her life in a fatal accident. Or, was it an accident?
Things seem to all be linked to Denilyn and her friends' summers at Three Rivers.
This story is very intricate and will keep you in suspense. I hated for the story to end, as I loved each moment I had to pick it up and read, if even for a few minutes. It was that good!
Eventually, things come together and it becomes apparent that Denilyn's stalker is someone close to her. Very close to her. The author did a super job of keeping that hidden for much of the story. I only figured it out shortly before it was revealed in the story.
There was a BIG surprise about Deni near the end that I don't think any reader would have guessed. While there were a few things that hinted, I would have never guessed.
I had to admire Deni for facing her fears and confronting it head on to stop it once and for all.
To sum it up, if you love Christian fiction suspense, you will be captivated by this one!

Having read several books by Ginny Yttrup, I was really looking forward to reading Convergence and I was not disappointed. With a multi-timeline format, this intense story of three lives in turmoil is unfolded masterfully. Lots of tension, strong, realistic characters, and a mystery that keeps the reader guessing until the end...what more could a lover of suspenseful thrillers ask for. It was captivating to follow the main character as she transforms from a woman living a fearful, hiding in the shadows existence to a strong woman who was not going to let the fears, real or perceived, grip her life any longer--a woman who could trust God even when she didn't have the answers she needed. One statement that resonated with this reader was "the past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us.' The author keeps readers attention high with twists to the story that evoke a 'did that really happen' reaction. Ginny Yttrup remains high on my list of authors to look for new books...can't wait for the next one.

It is rare to see a book receive so many 5 star ratings when the individual readers all seem to have gotten something different from the story. I'm no exception, I guess? The characters are complex. The author took the time to build each a back story that is different but will bring them all to the same place in the end. The very definition of Convergence. A great read that will keep your attention. Several times something would happen and I'd turn back pages to see if there was a clue I missed. That's the kind of book every reader wants to read.

This was my 1st time reading Ms. Yttrup work and it blew me away. She has such skill at weaving a story and keeping you guessing at what is coming next. I love the way she built up her characters in their world and incorporated their bonds and support to one another and most importantly the main characters spirituality. I could feel the emotions of her characters, the fear, the love, the doubt, all of it and I love getting that out of a book that I am reading! I just could not put this book down until I got to the very end, for me that means it is a great book!

When I finished this book, I knew I had a dilemma. I knew I needed to write a review, but honestly, I didn't think I had the words to adequately describe this book and its impact on me. I am still pondering, still trying to grasp the depth of Yttrup's message. Perhaps the best thing I can say is that you need to read this book. You just need to.

I normally gravitate to historical fiction. But for some reason I picked Convergence up. From the beginning I was sucked in – not only for the suspense – but also for the immense depth of emotion, the complexity of characters, and the brilliantly exposed message of truth. This plot is so deep, so twisted, so well developed that Yttrup stunned me. I sincerely hope you all take the plunge into its pages. For within you will find entertainment to be sure, but also a challenge to face your fears and to truly let go.

I was not quite sure what to make of this story for a while. It has plenty of suspense and the psychological mind games that I enjoy with this genre. I liked the main characters, especially Denilyn (Deni) and Jaylan (Jay). However, it involves two storylines that appear to be converging (hence the title), with the second storyline involving Adelia, an old friend of Deni and Jay. Yet, it takes a long time before her storyline starts to make sense, which made me question what I thought of the book. In the end, I found the book quite enjoyable. The author throws some rather significant, surprising, and quite good, twists into the final third of the book.

The basic storyline involves a psychologist (Deni) who had a stalker after publishing her first book, and now, seven years later, the stalker appears to be back, even though he is supposed to still be in prison. The book alternates between current events (2017) and past events (late 2009/early 2010, when she was stalked and then attacked), as well as the secondary storyline involving Adelia, which takes place in the present. I do not want to say too much about the plot because I do not want to accidentally give away any of the plot twists.

Something I do not often see in psychological suspense novels is discussion of faith and God and the main character questioning her faith, and ultimately regaining her faith.

Based on the "Acknowledgements" and "About the Author" sections at the end of the book, Convergence is the first suspense novel by Ms. Yttrup, and it appears to be quite a change from the contemporary women's fiction that she apparently normally writes, but based on the overall quality of this book, I think she has found a new genre that she can pursue.

Honest y’all, this book has everything that makes it nearly impossible to write a review for. So much so that I’m finding myself scrambling for words as I write this! It’s the thing that happens every time I read anything by Ginny Yttrup. She has this special way with storytelling that is both entertaining and impactful. In her latest release – Convergence – Ytturp’s special storytelling displays itself in a way sure to thrill readers.

Intense. Thought provoking. Soul stirring.

Convergence is all of those descriptions and more. From the start of the story to the shocking ending, this novel blew me away! I could not figure out at first what or where this novel was headed, but once the puzzle started to connect I could only read on in wonder. And the characters… Well, for fear of spoilers I’ll just say the characters kept me glued to my reading spot.

But what I loved most about this novel was its realistic approach to fear. It didn’t sugar coat or make it seem that fear is unbeatable – Instead, Yttrup allows readers to walk the path of freedom and victory along with the leading character. And I can not express how moving and thrilling it was to “walk” that journey.

A must read for sure, Convergence is a novel that reminds us that we’re stronger than we may think and that no river is unconquerable when God is on our side. Who doesn’t love those reminders, eh? 😉

A great read! CONVERGENCE by Ginny L. Yttrup, a great author, is a complex psychological thriller that is full of intrigue and suspense. Amazing true to life characters that you will never forget! Plus; a deep unforgettable plot!

The story opens with Dr. Denilyn Rossi, who, after a holiday break, is back to work. But on her first day back things don't seem right for some reason. First she thought she had lost her pin. Then as she dropped her mail from her mailbox inside her breifcase, she came across a white envelope. As she reached inside the envelope, there was the pin. She was suddenly perplexed and wondered how the pin got from her desk to the white envelope. Then, while she was at a book signing, she thought she saw someone watching her. But when she looked up, no one was there. Was it real, or was it her immagination? Why does she suddenly think she is beginning to forget things? Is her past coming back to haunt her?

Adelia, a student, holds Dr. Rossi's teaching as a way to help her try to push herself forward in life. Will it help her? First she stopped at a gas station and went to the restroom. Then she reached inside her backpack and pulled out her wallet. After thumbing through the small pockets she took out a photo. In doing so a business card come out with it. The name on the card said Denilyn Rossi, PsyD. After looking at the card, she tore it up into small bits and threw it into the toilet bowl and flushed it. Why? Then after staring at the photo she cried, tore it up and threw it into the toilet bowl. Again why? Will Adelia's and Dr. Rossi's worlds converge? An amazing story.

I'm not even sure how I got caught up in today's book - Convergence by Ginny L. Yttrup. I had never heard of the author, and when I read the back cover of the book again this morning, I swear I don't remember requesting it from NetGalley but obviously I did...... musta been a thing that day.

Convergence is the story of Dr. Denilyn ("Deni") Rossi,  a psychologist dealing with crippling fear, flashbacks and panic attacks years after being attacked by a stalker.  She feels strange vibes that someone is once again watching her...following her.  She was either being stalked again or her PTSD was making her think she was.

The story moves from past to present and back frequently and between the lies of three women.  There was lots of action along with a twist or two for readers to enjoy.  The story showed how fear really can keep someone prisoner, but that there can be hope to break the cycle of fear.  I loved that this was a clean mystery/suspense thriller and that there are Christian references throughout the story.

I loved all the references to faith, facing your fear through the help of God and trusting in God to get you through tough situations. Convergence is a solid suspense book with a lot to like about it.

Well, first things first, I loved this book. It continually surprised me. Just when I thought I had it figured out, something would come sailing in out of left field and throw me for a loop.

Probably my favorite thing was how Convergence was interwoven between two separate storylines and the way the author was able to use white water rafting and rivers as metaphors for what the characters were going through. I knew the title would have specific meaning somewhere in the book. When it was revealed, I gave a nod of approval. Well done, exceptional.

The storyline goes back and forth between Denilyn of the present and Denilyn of ten years ago. We also have Adelia’s storyline. The back and forth can get confusing if you forget to read the heading at the top of the chapter so you know which character you’re following. I love split timelines and multiple storylines, so this was no problem for me.

I will admit I had the who-done-it figured out long before the end. But the well-being of the characters kept me reading till the end.

I nominate Keith for the ‘worst-fictional-husband’ award. Sorry, but it’s true. He was an okay guy, just way, way, way too immature. I think Ginny Yttrup did a fine job in making relatable characters – in the love ’em and in the hate ’em categories. I couldn’t believe it when I found out this was her first suspense novel.

From the Christian Fiction aspect, there was a nice balance. My favorite scenes were the action scenes. Both the white water rafting and skydiving scenes were breathtaking.

I’m still reeling a little from this novel. It had me hooked from the onset despite the use of present tense POV, and even though I’m not usually one to be spooked by suspense stories, I actually found myself a little jumpy while reading this! It has the feel of a psychological thriller, particularly in the way the stalker plays with Deni’s mind, and I think it was that aspect that kept me hooked the most.

The story is told from three different points of view: Deni’s POV in the present, Deni’s POV back in 2009 (when the first incident occurred with her stalker), and Adelia’s POV, also in the present but beginning a few months in front of where Deni’s present POV begins, if that makes sense. By the end of the book, Deni and Adelia’s present POVs have . . . well, converged, and they carry the story to its conclusion.

I did sometimes find myself having to check whether I was in Deni’s past or her present POV in the middle of a scene, most often because something was happening to her and I’d lost track of whether the incident was in her present or her past, but overall, I think it was probably still the most effective way to tell the story. In any case, I was eagerly turning the pages, anxious to get to the bottom of both parts of her story.

There were several surprises in the latter stages of the story. One, I worked out a short while before it was revealed, and another really threw me for a loop until I got my head around it. However there was one revelation right near the end of the book that made me feel a little . . . Deceived doesn’t quite feel like the right word, but it felt as thought Deni’s POV was rendered less authentic by having kept that piece of information from the reader until the end. I’m not sure I can explain it any more clearly without giving too much away.

But aside from those few quibbles, this was a wholly engrossing read, and would especially suit those readers who are looking for a good suspense without a romantic thread.

Well. This book held my attention from the prologue. The fear. It is so REAL. Denilyn had something terrible happen to her, and hints are given here and there, but the suspense leading up to it....it's incredible.

The timeline in this book bounces around a bit. Denilyn's present. And then it goes back eight years to when this terrible event happened. And just when I'd started getting that all figured out, then another character and viewpoint is introduced--Adelia.

Adelia has been a student of Denilyn's teaching and wants to use it to empower herself and her future.

Darkness. Shadows. Suspense. Terror. Fear. It's all here, and you can almost taste it...I had to lay this book down at bedtime, I didn't want to find myself in the middle of it during those night-time hours when I wanted to be sleeping! ;)

And yes....it held my attention the entire way through, to the very last page! Well-written suspense.

I have read several books by Ginny in the past, so was excited she had written a new one! This book drew me in. From the start, I was hooked to the story. I am usually not a big fan of psychological thrillers, they tend to creep me out a bit, but I could hardly put this down.
I felt Deni's emotions as she lived in fear. I felt her anger and disappointment as her marriage fell apart and her husband was not able to connect with her. This book will definitely draw out your emotions, as you feel with the characters, especially if any of it is something you can relate to. I think it's also a book about growth, learning to place our faith in God instead of ourselves and our abilities. It's about reaching the end of us, and reaching out to Him.

I enjoyed the twists to the plot, however, from the start, I kind of had this feeling about how the book would end. It wasn't clear .... and she certainly kept me guessing for a while, but I did hit the nail on the head.

The one thing that I struggled with, was the timeline. The chapters jumped back and forth, roughly spanning a decade and also in the same year kind of back and forth between the months. As it all wrapped up in the end, it made sense, but it seemed a little hard for me to follow. However, that being said, I am not sure how the author could have written it any differently and still come to the same conclusion in the same way.

I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy mystery, suspense and psychological thrillers.

Convergence is the gripping story of Denilyn's journey to overcoming the fear in her life. Deni is a young professional woman working with a couple of her grad school friends in an academic setting. The story takes us back and forth in time, and informs us of a traumatic event which essentially changed the course of Deni's life. Her faith in God, and the counsel of her friends gave her the power to confront her fear directly, but to do that her very life was at risk.

The first portion of the book seemed to move a little slowly, and I almost abandoned my reading. But I was glad I persevered, because Convergence did not disappoint! The ending was quite satisfying.

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy suspenseful stories, and for those who find joy in reading about characters who trust God even when doing that doesn't seem to make much sense.

Ginny Yttrup is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! The first book that I read by her was Words, and I was hooked. Convergence is quite different from Words, but both are psychological dramas. Convergence focus on the victim of a stalker attack and her healing process. The alternating view points adds a unique twist, and frightening series of events the main character experiences leads to a satisfying internal journey toward faith and subsequent strength.

Denilyn Rossi is a psychology professor who became the victim of a stalker. And it may be happening again . . . or is it? I spent a good part of the book trying to figure out what I knew and what I didn’t know. I found some of the shifts in time confusing, but no doubt that was the goal. Yttrup has written a very intense, very twisty, very suspenseful story. Don’t read any spoilers because you don’t need to know what happens until you read it, and you need to read it! You will be holding your breath right along with Deni, and probably saying “Don’t do that!” like I did. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down until I finished it!

Ok, Wow!

I'm still in awe. I spent most of this book on the edge of my seat. Through Denilyn's reactions, I felt everything. It seemed unreal, and totally believable at the same time.

The shifting from past to present brings just the right level of confusion and helpfulness. That takes some definite skill.

Dealing with fear is a big part of the story, and God is with us, so we need not face it alone. I loved the lessons in awareness and coping. Trusting your instincts. Trusting God's got your back!

📌 I received an advance copy of the book from @NetGalley and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

Yes. This was a psychological thriller! My first read from Ginny Yttrup but won't be my last.

The story involves a psychologist, a stalker & a mother. What could go wrong?

I highly recommend this book. Its an intriguing read full of plot twists, fast paced, complex, page-turner you won't want to put down. Thank you Net Galley for this complimentary book to review. My review is my own opinion.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a Ginny Yttrup book and her previous books were all straight women’s fiction, so it was a surprise to pick up Convergence and find it’s suspense. A good surprise, mind you!

Convergence opens with an unnamed woman taking her first tandem skydive. Except someone is watching …
The story then flips to January 2017, as Denilyn Rossi is heading to work—she’s the department chair of psychology at Pacific Covenant University in California. Deni is also a published author, although the success of her first book destroyed her marriage. She’s now been asked to write a second book

It’s not clear whether Chapter One is before or after the Prologue, which is kind of the point—the timeline skips forward and back, back and forward, until it all converges in the present (hence the title). We then skip eight years back in time, to 2009. We don’t know why, but we already know this is significant. The we’re back in 2017, but in the head of another character—Adelia Sanchez. And on it goes.

Convergence is a story that unwinds and reveals layers and secrets as you read. It breaks several of the rules of writing (don’t start with a prologue is just the first). But the whole plot—and the secrets—are unravelled in such a way they pulled me right in. What is the significance of January 9th? What happened eight years ago? How did Deni get that scar on her head? Why is her friend and colleague, Ryan, so worried about her?

I don’t want to say too much more because *spoilers*. Just believe me when I say this is an excellent novel, one with unexpected twists and turns and surprises (and it’s hard to surprise me). The plot is complex without being convoluted, the characters are believable, and the writing is top notch. All in all, it’s a great suspense read.

You know how sometimes when you finish a novel it’s so good that you want to muse on it for a few days rather than starting another book? This is one of those novels. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. The writing style and plot really made this story worthwhile. I honestly had a hard time connecting with the characters but I still really liked reading about them.
Towards the end though, I got really confused. I think I know what was happening but I still need to ask someone to clarify it for me, lol!

This book had so many plot twists and heart throbbing moments that I had a hard time putting it down, well that and a deadline of only a few hours hanging over my head. xD This was my first book by Ginny Yttrup and I hope it will not be my last!

I do not know how I feel about the end though. The plot twists was amazing and I did not expect it but I am still confused about that one thing. Maybe because I was speed reading towards the end I missed it, or I am just an oblivious reader. xD

I loved all the faith content and seeing the characters develop in their faith. It was heartwarming to see and read that. God really does change people and their lives, this book painted a picture of that so perfectly.

I honestly loved the whole take of a Psychology. You can tell that Ms. Yttrup put time and effort into the research behind everything, which was amazing!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to suspense readers. This book is definitely up y'alls alley!!

This is book takes a ton is twists and turns. I was kind of hard to keep up at first because the timelines are so close but not the same time.

The two women we read about are connected but I wasn’t sure how it would all pull together. This was definitely a page turner and an intense ride. Even though it can seem confusing I would urge you to hang in there, it is totally worth it.

I really enjoy books like this that keep me guessing and I’m not sure how it will end.

"The past is either a shadow that haunts us or a fore that propels us."

I fell in love with this quote which just happens to sum up the story of Convergence nicely. First, there is Denalyn, a psychology professor that continues to be haunted by a horrible ordeal with a stalker eight years ago, and fears that a repeat is imminent. Then there is Adelia, a determined woman on an unknown mission to take care of some unfinished business.

Denalyn's story is told through flashbacks from the current 2017 to 2009, each situation parallel. The switch between times can get confusing, and at times annoying, until you reach the end and all the pieces fall into place. It also doesn't help that Adelia's story is also sprinkled in, thus adding more to the confusion. The stalker is a mystery that keeps you guessing until the reveal, though I pegged it early on, connecting certain dots in this sinister plot, but I would not say this book is predictable by any means.

With deep character development, and the entire book shrouded in mystery, Convergence had me turning each page with eagerness, dying to put all the pieces together and know the truth. What Denalyn endured was utterly unthinkable, but sadly could happen in real life, and actually would make an incredible action/suspense movie.

I love the touch of faith and empowerment interwoven in the story and Convergence proves that you can have an epic suspense novel without sex, violence, and bad language. A remarkable and enjoyable read!

5 Stars!! I don't say that lightly! I first picked this book up back in April 2019 and just didn't connect so I put it down. I never know if it's me, too many distractions or the book that is an issue. Well, I'm happy to say it wasn't the book! I picked the book up yesterday again and could not put the book down and kept thinking about it when I was unable to read.

I look forward to reading more books by Ginny Yttrup in the future!

Wow and wow. The ending of the first chapter of this book is wild and almost frightening. This story becomes quite intense as the tension keeps slowly building all the way until the very end. I felt at times as if I were walking along with Denilyn, sensing that the person who was stalking her was right behind me, too. The first-person viewpoint really takes you into Denilyn’s thoughts and the terror that she’s trying to handle, as well as seeing her faith and courage grow as things seem to be spinning out of control.

I loved the way that the author constructed this storyline and the way that clues were revealed at just the right time to change my perspective of the story. There’s an element of faith all the way through that gives a glimmer of hope in the middle of the darkness. If you like true mystery and suspense, you’ll love this book. The suspense and tension in this one is ramped up a little bit for Christian suspense fiction in an appropriate way.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Convergence by Ginny Yttrup is an exciting read. I’ve read other works by this author and there are definitely similarities between this novel and others in the amazing characters with great emotional depth. This novel is distinct from others because it is a thriller, a psychological mystery. The beginning can be very confusing because it bounces between two points of view and different time periods for each. But the novel is well worth reading in its entirety and it comes together beautifully. I loved this book. I received a digital copy of book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
